Diesel had barely arrived at their private hangar before the foreman - a grumpy off-world alien - met them, demanding his rental fee. "Ee dunak know why oo fel oo can rentas meena han-gar wi'out peemant, boot Ee wanna eet now."
Diesel turned slowly to regard the foreman with narrowed eyes. "We said we'll pay you after the race. We've only been renting here for a week - not enough to inconvenience you."
The foreman grunted and held out his stubby-fingered hand "peemant now, wurd latter."
Diesel sighed, not wanting a confrontation before the race began. "Fine. Here's your fee. Leave us alone." He watched as the beedy-eyed alien sauntered away with his lanky limbs swinging. Nash had remained silent during the exchange, knowing full well that Diesel was barely managing to control himself. "We'll need to let your speeder idle before the race. The engine is probably filled with dust from being so close to the docks." Nash got right to work on the speeder. The races would be starting soon.

Dio parked the classy black speeder in a free space of the busy parking lot. The place was packed, which was to be expected. The circuit got incredibly busy during races.
Cosette and Dio made their way in the stands until they were at two free spaces in the front line, which was the best view. Cosette dangled her legs off the seat and looked excited, crimson eyes taking in everything, while Dio dug into the concession stand purchases. The race would start soon.
To an outsider paying close attention, Dio and Cosette would be eye catching. They stood out from normal humans in a way indescribable and when they stopped moving, they were too still. Dio looked too at ease and relaxed for it to really be real, and Cosette was far too lovely for it to be natural.
They had some human appearances and emotions to catch up on.

When the call came for all racers to enter the track, Diesel and Nash were ready. They had been working in relative silence and savoring the last few moments of peace before the race began.
Diesel always took this time to focus himself. He envisioned the track and played multiple scenarios of the race in his head. He went through every situation, every possible choice that other racers could make. All this preparation paid off on the track. That was where Diesel separated himself from the rest of the circuit. "Alright, Deez, we've got to go. Have your gear ready?" Nash finished the last few tweaks to the accelerator before turning to his friend. "Yeah. Everything is here. I'm suited up properly and the Helmet checks out. No inspections today?" For the last few races, there have been pilot inspections by the DAR representative. For some reason, the military was looking into the physical conditioning of the racers. Fortunately, Diesel wasn’t at the academy when the inspector was so he could remain under the DAR’s notice. “No inspections today. The DAR officer is looking elsewhere.”The final call came, and Diesel and Nash began carefully transporting Diesel’s speeder to the track. As they passed into the main arena, Diesel could see that the stands were filled to near-full capacity. When he and Nash entered, the volume rose audibly. He was the crowd favorite at this track.
At the starting line, when he was introduced as “Number 33, Diesel of Veratia!” he greeted the thunderous applause, shouts, and whistles with a friendly wave and smile.

Getting there just as the racers were introduced, Liam parked his car. It was a sleek black car of the latest model. Kaida preferred her lightning blue classic, but her driving always worried him. The two separated as Liam went to get snacks and Kaida went to find Sette.
Stunningly beautiful and petite, the super was far from normal. Her walk far to graceful, and her eyes flitted about taking in the scene far to fast. When they had first met, Liam had tried to help her seem more human, but it hadn't peaked her interest enough or seemed important enough to do much about it. He gave up and the two resigned themselves to the glances she recieved. Ice-blue eyes easily finding her friend, the super maneuvered her way far to easily through the crowd and sat by Sette, smiling. "Hello there dear, where's Dio?"
Liam made his way through the crowd easily enough on his own, and was fairly supprised when he found Dio in the crowd. "Hey there." It wasn't like the male super was hard to spot, just like the two girls, he stuck out in a crowd.

Cosette smiled and hugged her sister-like friend, scanning the crowd as she did. " Talking to Liam I believe. They should be over in a minute or two." The girls took their seats at the front line. " So, said anything to Liam about the whole Dio situation? It might freak him out a little if you end up kissing Di infront of him."
Dio looked up, trying to act humanly suprised, though he had picked out Liams footsteps from all in the crowd. Kaida was here to, which made him blush just a little. " Oh, hey dude." They exchanged a very manly greeting and chatted while heading back to their seats.

A light blush crept into the super's cheeks. "Not exactly...I'll get around to it." She said no more about the topic as the two boys were back. How would Liam react to her and Dio? She really didn't want to think about that at the moment, banishing the blush.
Jumping up Kaida hugged Dio, truely jumping so that she could hug him around the neck before letting go and smiling. "Morning!"
Liam tried to stifle a laugh at the site of her jumping for a hug, but stopped when she shot him a death look. "No need to be starring at people like that this early in the morning short stuff." He recieve a 'light' punch on the arm for that comment, but suffered no more damage than that at the moment. Despite what Kaida thought, he was able to see the connection between his 'little sister' and his friend. Not that he wouldn't give them a hard time once they came out about it, just because he could as the little super's 'big brother'. So he sat on the other side of Cosette, allowing for Kaida to sit by her crush. "Hey Sette, how've you been?"

Cosette smiled at Liam while Dio wrapped his arm around Kaidas shoulders in the most casual way possible. " Im good, just finished up moving yesterday. It's nice to have a place away from Di." Dio rolled his eyes at Cosette, to which she smiled. " How have you been?" She asked. All of her was paying attention, except her eyes, which were sweeping the crowd. ' No anomalies, no threatening figures that I can see. And it seemed DAR doesn't have any representatives here today. Odd.' She turned her attention back to the three of them.

The announcer was taking his sweet time, Diesel thought, as he donned his racing gloves and began to strap on his helmet. His Speeder was designed for agility as opposed to defense on the track. Veratian racers were notorious for playing dirty. Finally, after all the racers had been announced, the call came for Racers to mount their speeders. Diesel winced as he threw his leg over the side. He knew it was too early to race after that crash he had during the preliminary rounds, but broken ribs wouldn't keep other racers from stealing his top ranking. Among the roar of thirty engines starting, Diesel felt his heart quicken. Any moment the race would start.

The fighter shrugged. "The usual, fighting to keep the top spot and earn money, Kaida not letting me spend my days off reading and doing research." Not caring if it was childish, the super stuck her tongue out at Liam for that last comment. She wasn't about to let him turn lazy on his days off, it was good for him to get out and come to these events. Though she also noticed the absence of DAR. How strange. The thought crossed her mind just as the racer's engines all kicked on. A smile appeared on her face, thinking how funny it was that the three supers could keep up with these speeders if they really tried. Not that the racers would take kindly to them on the track. Shooting a look to Dio, she grinned and winked, knowing he'd catch the track of her thoughts. She enjoyed his arm wrapped around her, but tried not to show just how much with Liam right there.

Dio looked down at her and chuckled, catching up on her thoughts. " I doubt they would like us being there, and it would sort of blow our cover." He mumbled, knowing she could hear him. He rested his cheek on the top of her head while watching the racers turn on their engines. To a normal human, it was loud. To a Super, if they didn't manage their hearing, it was defeaning.
Cosette bobbed her head as Liam talked, smirking as Kaida stuck her tounge out at him. She agreed with Kaida, no sense just wasting away and doing nothing. Though, sometimes it was good to have a balance. She turned her head and body away from Liam to face the track. She could pick up every sweat drop, every tiny detail, every flaw in the skin of each racer, something she doubted even Dio or Kaida could do without receiving the same 'programming' she had.

Diesel waited...Red...Red...Yellow....Green! He sent a silent prayer that Nash had managed to fully repair the damaged Accelerator. But he didn't have long to wait in order to find out. 33 accelerated perfectly, leaving a majority of the track behind.
It was unfortunate, Diesel thought, that only a few of the field were even worthy of considering racing with. There was Tahn Veena, an alien with an extraordinarily high-tech racer, Allam Nah a human with killer reflexes, and Kareena Altimori, a cule female of notable talent. The rest of the field were young up-starts with little chance of challenging the four front runners.
The first lab was typical. Easily raced. Diesel stayed just off the leader. He was a late advancer, preferring the rush of excitement at the end knowing that the other racers had already given their all at the beginning and he still had the resources to out-race them.
((d'yall want me to get it over with in one swoop or separate it from the posts.))

Cosette beamed as the race started. Her eyes followed the racers easily, though they found their crimson selves resting mostly on Diesel. Yeah, he was attractive in her eyes. Of course, nearly every female on the planet thought the same, though most just wanted the glamour that came with dating a famous person. He was a shoe-in for DAR recruitment, and it was always good to keep an eye on those types.
Of course, it helped when you kept an eye on someone attractive. She wondered if anyone noticed she was watching him closely. If Kaida did, Cosette would be mercilessly teased for it.
(( Maybe just one more post for the race?))

Liam just settled back to enjoy the race. The sound hurt his sensitive Cule ears somewhat, but for the most part he was free to enjoy the sport.
Kaida was happily settled against Dio, but she was hardly watching the race. Her sharp eyes kept flicking to Cosette, laughter in them already. It had taken her a few moments to realize, but her sharp, pin-point eyesight could see exactly where her friend was looking. The famous racer Disel, Sette? Now that could be interesting. And well worth the taunting. Very very soon, this blue-haired super was going to get back at the other female for the taunting last night. Having what she needed, Kaida allowed herself to watch the race, though her eyes still flicked about searching for any threat at all times.

Time was pressing, there really was no telling exactly when the race would end. Diesel made it a point never to look at the time-clock, leader board or the large display screen. He had even ordered Nash to keep silent on the comm lines unless there was an emergency. A pro pilot, he'd always thought, kept his mind on the vehicle - the sound, the feel - always adjusting to find the perfect balance for the machine.
He'd kept a watch on his track position, though, and soon realized that they'd made the second circuit. As the leader's pack rounded the corner Tahn Veena was in the lead followed closely by Allam Nah, Diesel, and Kareena Altimori respectively. At the beginning of the third lap, Allam Nah's right rear gusset kicked out a rain of sparks that showered Diesel dangerously. Nah was loosing power quickly, Diesel was stuck behind his failing speeder.
He flipped the comm switch, "Nash! Tell that b*****d to get out of the way! He'll kill Altimori and I!"
"Understood." Was the crackled reply. Diesel could only hunker down in the seat and wait for Nah to give up the race.
To Diesel's fury, Nah simply looked over his shoulder, and revved the already floundering engine more. The further acceleration caused the gusset to break loose completely, sending a large sized piece of metal hurling for Diesel. He knew that he could get out of the way, but Kareena would never see it coming.
Cursing what morality Nash had been able to beat into him, Diesel swung his speeder wide - wrenching his ribs painfully - and allowed the gusset to scrape the side of his speeder, impeding it's trajectory enough to keep it from plowing head first int Kareena Altimori's face. Instead, the metal plastered the front of her speeder and caused her to spin out of control. Diesel held his breath, watching for Kareena to recover. She managed to survive - he saw - and was clutching her right arm.
Diesel turned his attention back to the race. By now Nah had been ordered off the track by the officials, and Nash was racing to catch Tahn Veena. Veena's superior machine held little surprises for Diesel - he knew it's weakness. As Veena swung upward to the top of the track's last curve, Diesel swung downward, effectively cutting off Veena's path to the inside - and faster - track. Veena tried desperately to make up for his mistake, but Diesel had the edge with his more maneuverable machine.
The winner's circle that day had cost him an expensive paint job, and some minor repairs to the left stabilizers. His side was aching and it was all he could do to endure the quickie photo shoot that accompanied the winning celebration. He couldn't reach the racer's locker rooms soon enough...
