I know an observant Sephardi family who are almost all into anime. The mother takes the two daughters to cons once in a while, and she'll probably take her son when he's old enough as well. The father isn't much into it, but he's got his own lovely hobbies and fandoms -- Tom Lehrer, Flanders & Swann, microbrews and other fine beers, playing trombone. They're my best and closest friends, in fact.
Dude, like I don't know if I am the only person that has realized this, but many Sephardic Jews love manga, anime, comics, sci-fi, and so forth. My family is so one of those. My mom is a huge Marvel fan, and my father is DC (he is also a Shazam freak). I know total opposites. Go figure. My mom does like DC but not as much as Marvel. And everybody in my family plays video games. My safta even when she had cancer before she died, still liked to play tetris and pac man. lol. It was the funnest sh!t on earth to watch. Every time she lost she would be cursing in rapid spanish, and arabic at the machine. She also watched the twilight zone, and once when my family visited her, we caught her watching DBZ, and Fist of the North Star on Telemundo. LMAO! She said it was the only thing on. Even though there was a marathon of her favorite novellas on, and she was missing that to watch a marathon of Fist of the North Star. Anime geek in denile. lol.
But ya there are tons of Jews that like anime, comics, cartoons and so forth. Shoo, who do you think brought Power Rangers to the US? We did. Saban is a jew from Egypt and he grew up in israel. He also brought us a lot of other stuff. And Marvel was started by Jews also. No joke. Avi Arad is the curret owner. The list goes on.
Also the Japanese are obssessed with Jews and Judaism. Example Xenosaga. OMG! All of the references to Judaism and anti-christianity is insane! The Zohars, the letters of the Aleph-bet, the names of the characters. Dude it crazy.
