About an hour ago, Domnu turned 21. He is now enjoying his first legal drink (some pear wine), which will be one of the few times he drinks during the year.
It's not bad, it's just not good either.

Dis Dommu,
Now is the time I shall begin your education on BEER, WINE, and HAAD LICKA!
I'm a profound booze snob, who can taste the differences in vodka and can pair food with all forms of beer and wine.
So you might want to drop me an email if you happen across a liquor store with a wall of scotch and need to know what the difference between an blended Islay and a single malt Highland is.

It's such a shame that a pear wine should be a disappointment. One of the best tastes of any type of alcohol I have ever encountered was a hard pear cider. I had it at the Steelhead Brewery in Eugene, Oregon (USA), waaaaay back before I decided to become observant. Oh, my goodness, was it delicious! My mother and I were walking around the town, admiring the town's atmosphere and the people, enjoying the hot summer day. We saw the Steelhead and said, "I've heard good things about that place. Let's try it." That cold pear splash of flavor is something I've been trying to duplicate ever since, to no avail -- microbreweries are always best.
Anyway, though, happy birthday, DD! Many happy returns!

Thanks. Hehe. I'm not actually fond of alcohol. I'm hypersensitive to it, and the smell makes my head hurt.

Divash One of the best tastes of any type of alcohol I have ever encountered was a hard pear cider. Perry (Definition) : A hard cider made of pears instead of apples Perry (according to Neuf) : Liquid crack that is sold in six packs that tends to disappear when he brings them to parties. Yes Perry is da best.

Dis Domnu Thanks. Hehe. I'm not actually fond of alcohol. I'm hypersensitive to it, and the smell makes my head hurt. When I went to Italy and it was legal, I tried some and I agree; most everything I tried tasted awful. sweatdrop

Happy birthday! I still have a couple of more years to go before I can drink...then again, I know exactly where it is in the house and it is unlocked. Plus my parents don't notice if a little is gone...sadly, I don't feel the need to go down there and drink anything.

My family offers me drinks periodically, and I turn down always. I'm very picky about what I'll drink, and my family has terrible taste.

HeBrew isn't just photoshopped, it's a real beer. I like it, myself. I'm very picky about my alcohols as well, and while I'm no connoisseur, I can tell a good beer from a bad beer. Easy, in fact: If I'm enjoying it, it's a good beer, no matter how common or inexpensive. If I'm not enjoying it, it's not a good beer, no matter how rare or expensive. I'm the same way with pretty much anything, though. Quality is based entirely on my enjoyment.
