The day was too beautiful, the sky to clear, for Newadi'Woyi to remain on the ground for more than a moment longer than she had to. It was not that she despised the ground, could not wait to take her feet off of it, just because she was a Wind and therefore had the wings that allowed her to access a different place than Groundeds like 'Dihi could. It wasn't that she despised walking just because she had appendages that meant she didn't have to walk, for she knew just how fast her mother was at running, and wings could get in the way when you were trying to dash all-out through the forest. And it wasn't that she despised Groundeds because they couldn't fly, for how could she despise her sister Vidia, the sister who she had never met because of the other's sorrow over her lack of wings and their peculiar little family? It was just that since she had the ability, the option, to throw herself joyfully into the blue sky, to take advantage of the expanse that was totally hers, that she felt it would be wasteful for her to not claim it.
'Woyi's bright green eyes sparkled merrily as she darted high above the treetops, luxuriating in the feeling of the pull of wing muscles. It is so beautiful, she thought, to look down upon the treetops, to see the whole world spread out below you. Who wouldn't love it? The Winged mare let out a neigh of pure joy as she circled in the air like a brick-red bird, the wind blowing her white mane all about her face and whistling through her red and purplish feathers. She couldn't ask for a better way to fly.

Symphony swooped toward the ground, relishing the feel of the wind in her mane. Her eyes stung from the fierceness of the wind, but that made it all the better. It was too beautiful a day to be stuck in the forest, or back at the teepee. At first light, Symphony had taken off from the ground, and now, in the early afternoon, she still had not landed. She wasn't tired at all in fact, she felt alive, rejuvinated. She whooped with delight as she zoomed through a cloud, and laughed as she saw a very faint outline of her body, before the wind pushed the cloud back together.
Looking down, Symphony thought she saw another shape in the sky, but it was so far below Symphony couldn't tell if it was another soquii, or just a large bird. Curious, she tucked in her wings and dived down.

'Woyi laughed as she circled through the bright blue air once more, then dove down as fast as she could to skim the treetops, letting her hooves just barely rock the tip of the highest leaves before, with a great sweep of her wings, she shot back into the high sky once more, leaving all connection to the ground behind her. Dive down to the trees, then up into the sky once more, down and up, down and up, over and over, like some strange parody of a rabbit. Her sisters thought it was a silly game, but 'Woyi loved it.
But her concentration was broken, and she nearly plowed into a tree because of it, when she heard a great whoop of excitement, followed by laughter, from high above her. The mare quickly shot into the air again, away from the dangerous treetops, and hovered in place, craning her head up to try and discern the figure also flying on this fine day. At this angle, she couldn't quite tell if it was a large bird, like a condor, or if it was another Soquili, but as she debated, the figure detached itself from the clouds and came shooting down towards her. Definitely a Soquili, she realized as the other came closer, closing the very large gap between them. But her wings seemed...longer than 'Woyi's, though the mare couldn't tell yet if it was just due to the distance of her observation or an actual fact.
The other Soquili didn't seem to be in any sort of attacking dive, just curious, so as she came closer 'Woyi called out, "It's a beautiful day for flying, is it not?" She might even make a new friend, which would really make her day.

Symphony smiled in delight as she saw that it was indeed another soquili, and a mare at that. She snapped out her wings when she came even with the other wind, wincing a little as the sudden rush of air pulled at them harshly. Blinking several times to clear her dry eyes, she answered, "Its a lovely day for flying, simply gorgoues." She asked, "But why are you so far down here? Higher up is where the real wind currents are." A gleam shone in her eyes.

Once the other mare was close enough for 'Woyi to look at her properly, the Wind had to conclude that this stranger was stunning. Absolutely amazing. She had never seen anyone with that kind of coloring, those beautiful irregular spots on her neck and face and back. Her wings looked much longer than 'Woyi's, with very long feathers at the end that looked as if they could slice with the sky with a single stroke. And her tail was interesting, reminding 'Woyi more of a bird than a Soquili, but everything about this dainty, ethereal mare reminded 'Woyi of a bird. The mare was exotic and totally different from anything the red Wind had ever seen before, and yet she totally fit into her environment.
'Woyi smiled back at the other mare, then giggled slightly as she made a reference to flying so low. She hesitated for one long second, thinking. Should she tell the other mare? Would she think 'Woyi was silly? Even her sisters thought she acted like a nonsensical foal when she amused herself with it, but she saw nothing wrong with luxuriating in the thrill of flying up and then zooming down, touching the leaves precisely where she wanted. The moment of hesitation passed and 'Woyi, as usual, said exactly what was on her mind.
"Well, when I'm alone, I always like to play a little game with myself. I dive down toward the treetops, trying to just barely skim the leaves at the very top of the trees, then launch myself up again. My sisters think I look like an airborne rabbit, but I think it's rather fun. Let me show you!" With that exclamation and a sparkle in her eyes, 'Woyi abruptly folded her wings and pointed herself toward the nearest trees, lightly tapping the uppermost leaves with her red hooves, and then, with a great snap, unfurled her wings and lauched herself upward once more. She was a bit winded when she reached the strange mare, and totally full of delight. "See, it's lots of fun!" She wouldn't go so far as to say, You try it too!, like a young foal just meeting others, but the unspoken invitation was right there in her eyes.
