I truly love the Lolita fashion and lifestyle^^
But, how am I to convince my parents?

I've been wanting a Loli dress for a few years now. I mention it to my mother, and I have shown her pictures. But all she can say is, "You are not getting a dress like this. It's too seductive" I don't know how much I've stressed to her that it has nothing to do with what western culture has made it out to be.
I really need help on how to convince her^^"
Can someone please give me any ideas?

Seductive? Are you sure that you've been showing her examples of lolita as a fashion and not lolita as portrayed by anime and manga? They tend to shorten skirts, lower bodices, and make things look slutty rather than elegant and modest. Anyway, could you provide examples of the things you've shown her? It would help me in giving you some advice to negate whatever damage you may have done.
Also, try showing her items by companies like Mary Magdalene, Innocent World or Victorian Maiden, perhaps? They're very elegant, classical styles that she probably would relate well to.
If those don't work so well, you'll just have to wait until you can afford it yourself, I guess? .:shrug:.

While cute, showing your mom Cosmates isn't the best idea. XD
A lot of their pieces actually are meant to be fetishwear.
They sell mostly Bodyline [both of the examples you showed are from their site]. A lot of their photos also look more "sexy" than lolita does in general. The skirt in the yukata set is fairly short as is [I think it's not quite 17 inches? It's a miniskirt, either way], but those photos definitely make it look much more risque. Lolita's all for being modest, and showing her photos from a company that is known for its maid costumes and fetish outfits is probably not the best way to introduce her to it. They're not the best examples. haha
I'd stick to showing her sites like BtSSB, Angelic Pretty, Metamorphose, and the others I listed above. They use more tasteful, professional photos instead of the almost pin-up shots that Bodyline likes to use. They also have better construction and design than Bodyline. (:
Use those sites to ease her into the idea, then ask her if you can order a piece from Bodyline, Anna House or In the Starlight. It's cheaper than buying from Cosmates by a good amount, and you'll probably have a better time convincing her. (:

Thank you so much!! I understand what you mean, and now that I look at it, it does seem a little "sexy". And thank you for showing me that Bodyline site! I see the Yukata I wanted, and it's way cheaper, by far. Thank you!!^^ And I see some other peices that are wonderful! Thank you once again.
