After the parents received a call and the children were brought in there was an immediate blood work done for each one. Some children were sent home, told that nothing was wrong and that they would be perfectly fine. However, for a group of other children this was not the case.

After the blood work was done the parents of the seemingly healthy children were told that while not yet sick the children were still very much susceptible to the epidemic that was plaguing the younger D-Corp generation. They were told that for the childrens safety they would have to remain here at D-corp and be quarantined until a vaccine was discovered.

The children and parents would be able to say their good byes and ask a few questions however Acklin made sure to make that session short. The longer the children were out in the open the more chance they had to catching whatever was causing this plight.

-----

The room that the group was brought to had an air lock door, every sterile procedure had been met and it must have been rather frightening for some of the young bunch.

The room was very large and had five beds on either side of the room. There were a couple of televisions and Acklin even had some techs track down some toys to be brought into the room for the children after they had been sterilized. There were two bathrooms at one end of the room, one for the boys and one for the girls. The children would be able to move about the room, talk and play but had strict instructions they were not allowed to leave the room.

The doctor was not in the room too often, usually a tech or two were left in charge, but every so often Acklin did come in to check up on them.

Tryst was frightened. That was certain. Rysha had been called out of the blue to bring Tryst in for a checkup, so they had come in, to be told the snake girl was infected with something. Not serious, not yet at least. The result was that Tryst was to be quarantined with several other children. Rysha was none too happy about it.

Shivering, she wrapped her arms around her torso, looking around the cold, sterile room. It was so cold in here, no warmth at all... There were toys scattered around, and five beds as well as two doors on opposite sides.

Slithering over to the bed farthest from the door, she slid up and under the blankets, pulling them around herself. Not that they provided much warmth. She sat on the bed, leaning against the wall in the cocoon of blankets, her tail falling over the edge of the bed. The tech standing near the door, who had let her in after "sterilizing" her, wasn't the most comforting either.

Kliken wasn't sure exactly what was going on around him, sure he had heard what was being said but it was a bit hard for the boy to process. He wasn't sick at the moment, in fact he felt completely fine but they were saying that might get sick. He was to be kept here so he could be looked, to see if he got sick. He couldn't be with his mother and from what he heard from Than's half of a conversation the woman was very displeased. The fact was when their family had gotten the call for him had to come here for his check up he'd come to D-Corp with Than due to the time of day.

Than had discussed with the man how long Kliken was supposed to stay, what exactly was going on, and relayed the information to the boy's mother while Kliken had been lead away to a room that he was supposed to wait in. It reminded him a bit to much of the rooms he stayed in while he lived here off and on between homes only it was far cleaner and less hospitable.

He wandered over to one of the many beds, crawling up onto it and sat there starring at the door he'd come in through. He wanted his mother to come here and bring him home... he didn't want to be back here again so soon... not again. He had just found himself settling into the home he'd moved into, now he found himself fretting. What if he did get sick? Would his Momma still want a sick child?

He lifted his hands up to scrub at his damp eyes trying to keep tears from falling.

Kale blinked as he looked around the room after he was lead in. There was two kids there already both sitting on the bed. They said he would have to be away from his Mom for awhile until they could make them better. Emer had been really mad, he had never seen her get that mad before. Guys in uniforms had to come and make sure Emer didn't punch the doctor that was taking him away.

He sighed, they wouldn't even let him have his computer or even a cell phone so he could talk to his Mom or his friends. He slowly went over to one of the beds and sat on the side, giving the other two kids a tight smile and a small wave. He didn't know how long he would have to be here cut off from everything else. Might as well make the best of it. "Hi..."

Reese sat in his wheelchair, feeling pretty...upset. Wilbur was gone, Poppa was gone. He was stuck in this stupid place with the stupid D-Corp people telling him he couldn't go home, couldn't get his stuff. He couldn't even go see his dragon egg while he was here!

"Thupid D-Corp," he muttered darkly under his breath. Just what were they talking about, anyway? He felt completely fine! He'd just got his shot; wasn't that supposed to keep him from getting sick? His skin burned from the "sanitizing" process, making him want to scratch his body all over.

He looked at the other kids in the room...and blinked when he recognized one of them. Hadn't that blue-eyed kid been around at the egg visit? Looked like he was pretty upset...well, they could be upset together. Settling his hands onto the wheels of the chair, Reese went over. It was nice and smooth, the even ground making it easy for him to roll himself to the side of the bed.

"Hi," he said, his voice not really cautious or timid. This was Reese. Few things really intimidated Reese. "I remember you. Thith thuckth, huh?" He settled himself into the wheelchair, looking around...meeting Kale's gaze as the other boy began to speak.

"Hi. I' Reethe. What'th your name?"

Kale's smile brightened a little when he was responded to. "I'm Kale." He replied brightly. He looked older then the rest of them, but he was use to that. He always looked older then everyone his own age. He rose from his bed and walked slowly over to Reese, folding his hands behind his back. "I don't feel sick..... not really. Do you?"

Kliken lifted his gaze, lowering his hands from his face, "H-Hi there." He said in greeting to the rather tall, spotted boy who was being friendly and quite strong despite the current situation. He gave a little sniffle and then forced a smile.

He turned his attention as Reese came over to talk with them as well, "H-Hi Reese." Recalling him and his name from when they went to visit their dragons eggs. He gave a little nod in agreement, "Y-Yeah... I-It sucks I... I want m-my mom to come visit." Even though he knew that she couldn't come here.

"Y-Yeah... don't f-feel sick at all." He murmured, drawing his knees against his chest and laid his head on them.

Reese shook his head quickly in response to Kale's question, looking back at Kliken as he also answered. This was getting ridiculous!

"I know, right? I've never, ever felt thick ever!" He seemed more angry than scared or worried. After all, how dare they take him away from his father when nothing was even wrong with him! It was just...just...well, it was just plain stupid!

He noticed a shifting of sheets, and glanced across the way to the other occupied bed. He saw a flicker of a tale from under the edge of the covers, following the trail up to the eyes that peered out from under a hood of blankets.

"Hey...what about you?" The seahorse boy turned himself around slightly in his chair, curling his tail around a footrest. "You feel thick?" This one sorta reminded him of Ter...but a smaller version.

Tryst watched the others silently as they came in, undecided as to whether she should talk to them or not. Plus, they were all boys... Was she the only girl that was sick?

When one of them started addressing her, she pulled the blankets off her face, her hair falling down her back in a tumble of white and palest rainbow. Her blue eyes looked scared as she looked at Reese. "I-I don't think so..." He looked odd, kinda like a seahorse. The other boy was definitely a giraffe, but she didn't have a clue what the third boy was. From what she could see, though, he had nice eyes.

The call had come while he was at work and stood blinking on the answering machine for hours. Now Dr. Coleman raced Kate over to D-corp, not even locking the door on the way out. For once he thanked his old landlord, it would have been a twenty minute drive over to D-corp. Now it was a short minute or two.

Although Kate protested she was fine and wanted to walk, the man carried his charge through the building to epidemic center.

~~~~
The chihuahua cried on her daddy's shoulder, holding the arm that they drew blood from. It. Hurt. She never wanted to see another needle again! Ever! The toddler pressed closer into her daddy's shoulder, sniffling.
Gently he placed her down on the floor. "Kate," her daddy began. "There's a very bad sickness going around," he continued speaking softly and slowly. "It's making you kids very very sick. Daddy can't catch it," he reassured catching the look of terror in the girl's eyes, "But they want to keep you here while they figure out how to fix the sickness."
T'rin pointed at a door, dreading the scene that was going to follow. "You need to go with the nice men and I'll see you in a little while, kay!" Kate, nodded slowly, not really catching everything and started to head towards the quarantine area.
About halfway there, she began to realize that her daddy wasn't following. At once the chihuahua began to run back towards her father. As soon as the techs picked her up, Kate began to scream, "DADDY! NO! NOOO! CASSI!"
Kicking and screaming. Squirming and wriggling. It was only sheer luck she was so small that the techs helping were able to manhandle the girl through all the procedures and dump her off in the room.
Immediately Kate launched at the air lock, pounding and screaming wordlessly. She wanted her Daddy, and she wanted her Cassi and it was all the mean techs who were locking her up. Why wouldn't Daddy come with her. He said he wouldn't get sick so why did he have to stay away!
Kliken listened to those around him as they started to talk, to claim not to be feeling ill and he found himself wondering more and more why they had to be there. It got him to worrying that much more as well, not liking that they were being locked up all alone without their parents. He might not like the techs but he had never been scared of them until now.
His mind started to wander, thinking trying to think on good things instead of the bad situation at hand. He let his sky blue eyes sink closed and he focused his thoughts upon Tural's egg. It was relaxing thinking about his dragon, about the pretty colored egg that seemed to be the king of kide and seek already as it was almost impossible to spot in the tank. He even thought about the first time he got to see the egg and touch it when he went on the egg meet tour with Mister Peri.
The leech's attempts to drift to a happier place in his mind were interupted when someone new was put in the room with them, someone loud and angry who was beating on the door that led out. He opened his eyes and starred a moment before he called out, "Cassi? Is that you?" It had been a while since he'd see the puppy boy and he couldn't quite be sure but... it looked like him from the back.
Tryst froze as the new addition was brought in, a little girl with large ears, screaming for her father and someone named Cassi. She curled into a ball, winding around herself while covering her ears.
"It's loud, hurts..." She mumbled, unsure if they would hear her, not caring if they did. She wanted Emmet, and Rysha. And Raichu. Why couldn't she bring to toy with her? Rysha said she wasn't allowed to, so she took the toy with her. Seemed like they all had to leave something when they got the checkups. And she didn't like it, at all.
Kate hiccuped, screams briefly subsiding into shuddering sobs at the sound of Cassi's name. The chihuahua turned around hopefully, glancing at the room with large tear-filled eyes. When her brief inspection of the room turned up no hint of her Cassi, Kate flopped down on the floor. She settled for sobbing her heart out interspaced with intermittent kicking
As the elderly woman approached the quarantine area, she could hear screaming from inside that subsided as she began the sanitation process. Ugh. She hated sanitation procedures, no matter how important they were. And they were very important indeed. These kids weren't sick yet and hopefully they would remain that way. Finally, the airlock door hissed open and allowed Vivian into the room.
The elderly woman took a glance around the room and could tell that things were not going easily here. There was one child on the floor sobbing, one hiding on its bed with only a lump under the covers to give it away, and the others seemed to be getting along okay. "Hello, everyone. My name is Vivian. I'm helping the doctor with all of your sick friends."
She moved on into the room so that all of the kids could see her, glancing for a moment at the child on the floor. "I know you don't feel sick, but it's possible for you to get sick too. So you have to stay here. If you do start to feel sick, let an adult know so they can make sure that you're taken care of. I know this is hard, but we are working as fast as we can to make sure that you won't get sick and that all of your friends will be getting better very soon."
Kliken rose to his feet, walking toward the little chihuahua girl that looked like his friend but upon getting closer to her he started to realize that it wasn't Cassi. She looked a bit like him, same coloring, same ears but different upon closer inspection. He froze mid-step when he found himself half way between her and the bed he'd slid off of.
He shifted in place and then turned as the door opened once again. He half expected another child to appear in the room to be quarantined here with them. Instead it was an older woman, one who had a kind voice but wasn't here to let them go home. Instead she was explaining to them what was going one, why they were staying, and that they were trying to figure things out.
He wanted to believe her but at the same time his fear of being left at D-Corp again made it hard to do. He lifted a hand to run his hand against his eyes to keep the dampness there from falling.
