The whitish colored male had followed the sounds of the other male through the grassy lands. He could feel the vegetation hit just above his elbows, meaning that the lands was not as barren as others. When the male had stopped, the blind one listened closely, trying to adjust the injured klipspringer in his maw.

He sniffed the air, trying to block out the scent of drying blood. It...kind of smelled different? Kipofu could not put his paw on it. Maybe it meant they were there! Oh thank heavens.

He placed the dark colored deer on the ground, and called to whoever was inside. "Hello?"

Kenai shifted in his den, it was a bit smaller than his and Ayo's family den, but he had dubbed it his own and a place to work and study different plants and herbs found in the lands. His father had told him certain stories of his mother's old pride, the Kusini as it was many, many moons ago. Ari had also told him many things of his beloved land while she was still alive, and now he wanted to do something to make her proud as she lived in the great sky above and watched over them all.

He was staring down at several kinds of grass found in the land, still not very sure of what many plants did, when the faint smell of blood hit his muzzle. Kenai's face bunched slightly up because he did not like the smell so much, but he knew it must have meant someone was in trouble. The thought was confirmed almost instantly when he heard another call from outside the den he shifted away from the back of the cave and headed for the entrance. "Yes?" He said tentively, eyes widening slightly as he spotted the young male and the animal. "What... what has happened?" Wasn't that food in his mouth?

An answer! Kip's heart began to pound as the footsteps came closer to where he was. He looked down to the klip springer, staring straight into the darkness. He knew his guide was there though, afterall, how could she move? He stepped backwards, revealing the deer to the lion entirely so he could inspect her if he needed to. Kip knew he had no other choice but to let another near.

"A...lion attacked her. He was smaller than I am," Kip tried to remember, but the past hour was all a blur. "She's hurt real badly. Please tell me you can help her." The male cried out, staring passed the yellowish lion.

"...Please..."

Kenai was a little surprised that the other male wanted him to fix the prey beast, and he was slightly alarmed because it was not as if he'd fixed anything before, he was still only studying healing methods. Still, it was that or let it die.. "W-why... do you want me to heal... something lion's eat?" He tried to sound gentle and he put it as tentatively as he could, but he wasn't about to turn the boy away. He wasn't even aware he was blind. "Here, bring her in here." He added softly as he moved back into the den and made room for the lion and his companion.

His mind was working fast, but his heart was pounding. What if something went wrong? He just had to stop the bleeding, that was all. And then watch over the beast... well, this was what had always been in store for him when he'd decided to become a Poza.

As Kenai spoke, Kip's ears almost flattened against his skull. He wanted to snarl at the lion. "She is not a lion's meal!" He scoffed slightly, almost glaring at the male. All he wanted was Kenai to help the deer, and then he could be on his way, that was it! He sighed, bringing her into the den, placing more towards the left side. After all, he couldn't see where the male wanted her to be, so where the blind male placed her was where she was going to stay.

"If she dies, I would be useless in this world." And that was the truth. Hopefully Kenai would understand what he meant by that.

Kenai winced, realizing he'd clearly offended the other. "I am sorry, I did not mean.." But he had trailed off. It was just all a little odd for the adult male, that was all. "What shall I call her then?" As Kip put the deer down he moved toward it, examining the wounds. He was still panicking, and when Kip admitted that he'd be helpless without the beast living it only made Kenai's nerves feel more shot, it put a certain pressure on him to do well.

He glanced to the other as he moved back to the different grasses and herbs he'd lain out to look at and swallowed. "What do you mean, useless?" Certainly every lion had a use... what was Kip's to this animal? He nosed around some of the herbs, racking his brain for which might help. He had to be careful, he thought perhaps some might even do more damage than they would good. Finally he picked some sage grass and started to chew, making a face at the bitter face.

(Lol i know nothing about herbs and healing ;-; -fails-)

(lol Improvise?)

"Her name is Lonny" he stated simply. Perhaps he should give the other male a little more respect, after all, he was trying to save the deer. At least, Kipofu hoped he was trying to heal the deer. "Have you been doing this long?" Please say yes. Nos' just made the blind even more anxious then he already was.

"Can't you tell?" The pale eyed male looked at him. Maybe it wasn't that obvious, but he was sure the words would bring a thought to the yellow male. Maybe not.

"I...I can't see." He admitted.

"And Lonny has been with me since I left the Pridelands." That was when he was an adolescent. "She is my eyes, I am her protector." At this, he scoffed.

"Some protector...eh?" He sighed, plopping on the ground and resting his large head on a paw.

Kenai hesitated when the young male asked about how long he'd been doing this, and he assumed the boy meant actually treating others and not just studying and whatever. Oh everyone had to start somewhere, but this was nerve wracking! He wondered if he should perhaps just concentrate and act as if he had not heard the question?

Kenai glanced to Kipofu as he asked if Kenai could not tell. He was still chewing on the sage and he squinted to take a closer look at the male. As he stated he could not see he realized it was rather easy to tell, his eyes were filmed over. Like his precious sister's.... oh! How long it had been since his twin sisters had been in the lands... how young they'd left this place... how couragious they had been, one blind and the other deaf.

He moved toward Lonny and started to gently spit the chewed up grass on some of the wound, still trying to think of something else that would help the blood stop flowing from the wound. He moved toward some of the longer grasses, they were drier and would wrap around the beast's leg. He tried not to get too much of the length of the grass in his mouth, he did not want it too wet.

"I had a sister who was blind... She relied on her twin much like you rely upon this Lonny of yours... but her sister was deaf. So both pulled upon each other's strengths to minimize their weaknesses... I have not seen them in a long time, they left the pridelands so long ago... I think they are great adventurers now." He could not be sure, but he still liked to think that. He was trying to calm the boy down for what he was about to say.

He started to wrap the grass around the wound as best he could with teeth and paw, as tightly as he could. "I think you have the right to know... this is my first time." He said, his voice soft and serious. He had never healed anything before, he only prayed that he could help this boy and Lonny.

"Your sister was lucky then. If I had another with a disability like my own, or alongside it, I wouldn't have to rely on a prey mammal to be my eyes. All my siblings were given the luxury to see at birth. My father says I was too, but my mom's sister...my aunt I guess you would say, did this to me. She got me, then she killed my mother." Kipofu sighed. "After that, I was just treated like an invalid. Useless, always having to be tended on every seecond of the day. That's why I left. I found another like me, who actually needed help without helping myself." He explained, speaking his childhood story to the healer.

When the male put the sage on the wounds, Lonny tried inching away, but held no strength to actually do so. She laid there, her eyes squinting open to face Kipofu, shifting her tired eyes to Kenai.

His breathing hitched as the adult spoke of this being the first time he was to healing something. He opened his maw, closing it every now and then, wanting to speak but no words coming out. But when they did, he gave a sigh in defeat. "If you believe you can help her, then I trust you..." He murmured, not really having a choice in the matter.

Kenai frowned slightly and shook his head, wishing the boy would not be so pessimistic about his current situation. His mind was only half on the conversation though, because he was more focused on finishing what he has started with the boy's guide. He was almost finished administrating herbs, and the rest would be up to the animal getting rest.

He turned away from Lonny, wishing the animal was not so scared but knowing he could do nothing about it, and seemed a little shocked at what Kip was saying. "Your aunt?" He breathed out, in a whisper. Pain flickered over his face, it was pain Kip would never see. There were flashes of the whole ordeal of Nahi, his own mother and what later became Tamu, the killer. He shuddered slightly and moved away from the animal, brushing past Kip lightly as he headed for the door. "Relatives shouldn't do such things." He finally stated, just as quiet if not much sadder in tone.

He turned to glance back at Kip at the exit, frowning. "And even if that was the way you were treated... then it is smart that you left. It is good to find others that need you as much as you need them... and wrong for your family to have treated you so." But he didn't really know what else to say, just hoping the boy would take his words for encouragement rather than rude.

"I think... it will be okay if you sleep here tonight. Your friend needs a lot of sleep, actually." His tail flicked a little. "I will be back to check in the morning, is that okay?"

Kipo nodded a silent agreement. No one should do that, regardless of relationship to those or if they have never even met. But unfortantly, this was Africa, and in the feline world of Africa you took whatever came to you.

The blind male listened carefully, was he done already? It just seemed like they just got here...but then again, when you worry about someone the hours could seem like minutes, especially with the conversation they were having (well, mostly with Kenai speaking, Kip just worried).

"H...have a good night," he said quietly, listening to the rustling as the male walked past him towards the entrance. Kip took this time to move by Lonny, sniffing at her before plopping on the ground, wrapping his paws around her protectivley as she began to doze off. He nuzzled the female klip carefully, murmuring a 'goodnight' as well as a 'you'll get better, I promise' into her ear, before resting his head on his paw, listening to the sound of the klip's breathing before he fell asleep.

---A few Days Later---

Lonny had been getting better. She was now getting up on her own, wandering around the cave to look for good ruffage. Kipo would accompany her to the outside for her to graze a little bit, before both headed back into the den for her rest time.

This particular morning, the blind male awoke with no warmth against his pelt. He shot up with a start, "Lonny?" he called out, sightless eyes gazing wildly around. When he heard the small clip-clop, he sighed in relief. Good, she was still here.

Kenai had been spending a few days with his mate, and the children he managed to see around. All of them were getting very big and were starting to explore at a greater length the lands around them, wishing to start their own lives. It was a bittersweet moment, really, but Kenai was sad he hadn't spent more time with them all.

He figured it was about time to check on his first patient, hoping he hadn't killed off Kip's guide by accident. He moved slowly toward his medical den, tail flicking as he worried over the outcome of his 'experiments'. He was sure he would not be forgiven if his herb treatment had not been successful...

He took a deep breath as he got closer and felt relief when he could smell both prey and beast, and he also felt a sense of pride at knowing he did well. "kip, how is your friend doing?" he asked carefully as he moved into the cave entrance. He took in the scene in a matter of minutes and did not go too much closer to the prey beast, which was probably skittish now, but he was able to tell a few things. "I think she needs a few more days of rest and then you two are good to go..."

Kipo looked up when he heard the healer enter the den. He nuzzled the female deer, before rising to his feet. Although it seemed Lonny was doing better, without vision, his thoughts could be decieving. The white adult nodded, "She is looking better though, right?" He questioned, curious about her appearance, remembering the heavy scent of blood that masked her body a few days prior. He was sure enough that her little body was marred with the nasty pink scars, after a battle with a lion, how oculd there not be?

But they would be able to leave soon, that was good. "Just give us the word when we can leave," he stated politely.

Kenai watched Kip for a moment before he let his eyes wander over the female companion, taking in her wounds with a slight sickness in his stomach. He was actually surprised Kip had even been able to get her here with all of the scars he saw on her body... perhaps she had a very strong will to live.

"She looks healed." He said carefully, wondering if he should avoid telling the boy or not? "In any case as long as nothing else attacks her and her wound does not open up again I am sure she will be fine... I'd guess there is a good chance she will have a limp when her leg is fully fixed, but it is a small price to pay to keep alive." Well, he thought that might cover it all. He hoped it did, in any case.

He tried to think of how long they would have to stay here, Lonny's condition had been quite bad when she was brought in... though she seemed to be doing much better already, which was a surprise. "I think after five sunrises from today it will be safe to journey again.." He wondered if Kip even knew how to tell such a thing, and then felt foolish. After sleep it usually meant a new day or a new night... but.. time must have been confusing in that sort of state. "If you need it I will come back on the planned date to bid you farewell?" He asked cautiously, unsure if it would offend the other or not.

Kip nodded at Kenai's explanation, frowning a bit when he said that she owuld have a limp most likely. He needed to get her somewhere safe, obviously hanging around a lion wasn't going to keep her alive for long. He gave a defeated sigh, knowing the next few weeks were going to be particularly hard on the white pridelander, but it was for the best interest for Lonny.

"...That would be great, thank you sir." Kip said, lying back on the ground. Five days....five days to decide where she could go to be safe. Five days before he was truely alone...Five Days...
