White paws padded softly against the grasses as Malika'eusi made her way towards the outskirts of the pridelands, the borders. The white female adored the pridelands and definitely considered them to be her home but she needed some space from them. She needed a break that was it. She needed a break.

Inhaling deeply she picked up her pace and broke from her steady trot into a full-blown run. She wasn't nearly as fast as a cheetah but she liked the feel of the wind against her fur pushing her back as she pushed forward. A smile broke across her face as she came out of the trees and into the open eventually slowing down, panting slightly. Her short run was nothing like those when she fled the oasis and for once it was for her enjoyment and not for any other reason.

"I ought to do this more often." Malika mumbled to herself regaining her breath and starting to trot forward, she was going to travel a bit and come back to the pridelands soon.

All she needed right now was a good thought-clearing moment.

Mkaa's family lived nearer the borders of the Pridelands than to the central lands and, say, Pride Rock. And the dark lion was glad of it, and he knew he was not entirely alone in that opinion after his chat with his mother. Now that he was most definitely all grown up, he felt obligated to seriously consider the conversation they had had. No official decisions or requests had been made, but he was almost certain he'd prefer the relative solitude that came with scouting. And his mother was not a bad lioness to idolize professionally.

He was perched on a rock that barely had him above the tall grass, looking out over the lands when the white blur of a lioness running caught his eye in the distance. He didn't really blend in with his surroundings, but he didn't do anything to make himself really stand out, either. He wasn't sure, though, if there was something she was running from so he stood up and looked off in the direction she'd come from, though at first glance there didn't appear to be anything following after her.

Her pace slowed as she decided to stop and catch a breath. It was such a wonderful feeling to have the heart pumping and the wind running through her fun. It was absolute bliss. Letting her violet eyes scan the area before her they settled upon a dark form. Her head tilted the slightest bit as she stared at the figure for a moment before it registered in her mind that it was a lion. A male lion.

At first she planned on simply looking away and continuing on her way but she realized that he had been watching her for a little as she had just been watching him. After staring at him for what she found to be too long she inhaled before trotting towards him. A smile curled upon her lips as she made her way closer. "Hello!" She called cheerfully.

Mkaa's gaze shifted back to the running lioness as she slowed down, deciding that she didn't look too distressed. It was possible to just run for the fun of it, if you had the energy to burn and no one to talk or play with. He would have sat back down and let her be if he had not realized she was staring back at him when he looked back.

Smiling sheepishly, he remained on his perch as she came closer and called out to him.

"Hey," he replied awkwardly, "O-out for a run?"

Malika continued towards the black male not at all bothered by the fact he had been staring at her. After all she had stared right back. However to her it seemed that he was either nervous, or embarrassed by the way he had stuttered just the slightest bit when he responded. His reply reminded her of the times when she had been younger, and not too long ago, that she had stuttered quite often when spoke mostly as a result of nerves. Pushing thoughts of the past she turned her full attention back towards the male.

"I am, it's a nice way to get away from things." She told him pleasantly with a nod. "Helps clear my mind. What brings you out here?" She asked before wondering if she was being a bit too straight forward. She had tended to be more quiet but the silence lately had been bothering her. It didn't hurt to break out of one's shell every now and then.

"Oh! I apologize. My name is Malika'eusi."

Realizing how rude it was for him to stay on the rock, though a bit late, he decided to hop off to level the ground between them a bit. It was more polite than making her look upward- more comfortable too. He managed not to stumble, which was good. She wasn't scary or anything, and one stranger was better than several at once.

"Oh, of course," he agreed with another sheepish grin, and he opened his mouth to reply when she suddenly apologized and introduced herself. Then he realized his mistake at not having introduced himself either, and he laughed quietly.

"Malika'eusi, it's a pleasure to meet you," he responded politely, not stuttering now- the conversation had a direction now, "I'm Mkaa. My family lives not too far from here, actually, but I'm just.. out." He hesitated as he about mentioned his thinking about a profession for himself.. but decided not to say anything. Unless she had some insight.. maybe..
