The wide Dungeon was ideal for Potions-making. There were no carpets, tapestries, or woodworks to be spoiled by exploding draughts, and the stone kept the environment cool, perfect for storing ingredients.
There were six tables set up facing the Professor's desk at the front of the room, and each table could fit four students. The tables were standing-height, and there were stools set up that could be sat upon and then pushed under the tables when it became time to brew the potions.
Along the walls were counters with cupboards underneath them, some containing spare copies of textbooks, others containing potions ingredients. On the counters were several cauldrons simmering with all different sorts of potions.
At the front of the room was the Professor's desk, with a small and unassuming name-card on it, reading: "Professor Jackson Krouso."
There was a tall blackboard behind the desk, and instructions were written on it:
Elixir to Induce Euphoria This potion is a sunshine yellow color when finished, drinking can induce feelings of extreme happiness. There are several side effects, but a sprig of peppermint can counter these.
Instructions: Add 1 small cup of boiling water to your cauldron Drop in one small Bouncer Plant leaf. Your potion should boil up, turning the mixture green. Crush some moonstone; only about a spoonful's worth. Add the moonstone SLOWLY, stirring counter-clockwise. Note: I do not want any exploding cauldrons--add it SLOWLY. Add some Essence of Euphoria (When added, it should make the potion turn a sunshine yellow color. NOTE: Euphoria Essence cannot be taken alone, so don't try it; it is lethal.) Stir clockwise exactly 17 times, again SLOWLY, lest we explode. Bottle your potion up in a sea-glass container (sea-glass ONLY... again, no exploding will be tolerated) and bring it to me.

After making a quick run to the bathroom to wash her hands after Herbology, Amelia took the long journey down to the dungeons for her next and her hardest class, Potions. Entering the dungeons, Amelia noticed Professor Krouso sitting at his desk. "Good Morning Professor." Amelia said before taking her usually seat at one of the middle tables. Pulling out her cauldron potions ingredients, and textbook out of her bag, Amelia began setting up for that days lesson which she noticed was already on the board. 'Ah the Euphoria Elixir. One of my favorite potions to mess around with.' After her cauldron was set up, Amelia went over to the sink and filled a small cup with hot water. Walking back over to her table she poured the water into her cauldron, adjusted the burner underneath it, and then began to prepare her other ingredients as she waited for the water to boil. .......

Xurdion entered the classroom after his hearty breakfast with his friends and took a seat next to Amelia. "So, how's the potion coming along so far? Waiting for the water to boil? You know it would be a lot faster if you just used a spell." He smiled as he took out his textbook and alchemy book and set them ontop of each other. He slid them to the corner of the desk. He looked up at the board and read the assignment, then went over to his own cauldron and started to gather the ingredients. He flipped open his textbook and scanned the ingredients and instructions, his arms filled with different ingredients. "Do you want to work as partners?" He asked Amelia with a kind smile, this potion was pretty easy but he didn't like to compete against his friends and the instructions on the board didn't say anything against it. He set the ingredients down on the table and waited for a response, his cauldron had already started to boil. He read the next instruction and referred to his own book. "Interesting...I've only done it like this once or twice before." He thought, he closed his alchemy book since it would be useless for how they were doing it. He took a small Bouncer Plant Leaf, the freshest he could find, and put it into his cauldron where it began to boil up and turn a green color. "Perfect." He said with a joyful smile as he moved onto the next step.

Amelia smiled as Xurdion entered the room and sat down next to her. "Sure I'd like that very much." she said in response to his questions about the two of them being partners. By the time Xurdion entered the room the water had come to a boil. "HAHAHA looks like the water beat you to it but thanks I'll remember to use my wand next time." Amelia than began to dig through her potions kit and finally she found what she was looking for, the Bouncer leaves. Shifting through the various sizes of the leaves, Amelia finally found a small one and dropped it into her cauldron. Like Xurdion's cauldron the potion inside boiled up and turned a mixture of green. After that was over, Amelia turned backed to the moonstone she was crushing and began to carefully measure a small spoonful of the ingredient. ......

"Yes well...what can you do?" He smirked as he pulled out a moonstone from his pocket. He took out a small vial that he had in his pocket as well. "Here, I'll work on the next step then." He placed the moonstone and the vial onto the table adn looked up at the instructions. He watched as she added the moonstone into the mix, he bit his bottom lip as the cauldron boiled up some more but then faded back down. He let go of his held breath silently as he went over and grabbed a stirring spoon. He began to stir the potion counter-clockwise so that the ground moonstone would blend with the potion. He slowly continued to stir as he looked up at the board. "This is pretty simple, we only have one thing left." He let go of the stirring spoon and set it against the side of the cauldron. He went over to his bag and grabbed the Essence of Euphoria. It was a golden yellow in color. He shook the vial so that the Essence would have a greater effect. "Do you want to add it? Or should I?" He smiled as he went over to the cauldron, the vial in his hand.

Amelia slowly added her moonstone into the mix, taking extreme care when pouring it in. She wasn't even pouring it she was sprinkling it in almost as if she was powdering a cake with sugar. As she was doing that, Amelia was taking her stirrer and began to stir counter clockwise. When it came time to add the essence of euphoria Xurdion asked if she would like to add it. This was a crucial step in the potion and Amelia knew is she didn't add it the right way Xurdion and herself would be splattered with potion. "Yea why not. I'll add it and then you can stir the potion while I get the sea glass containers." .....

"Sounds good to me." Xurdion said with a smile as he took the stirring stick and continued to stir the potion, it was turning out to be down near perfect. "I wonder where everyone else is though, we're almost done and they haven't even arrived yet." He couldn't help but laugh a bit as he thought of watching everyone walk in and seeing they were already finished. "This can't be the lesson for today, it only took us ten minutes to finish." He said aloud, he hoped it wouldn't have been since he was expecting something a little more challenging. "Are you doing quidditch this year?" He asked changing the subject from just potions. He stared at the potion and waited for her to add the Essence so they could complete the potion. "Oh and be very careful adding that Essence of Euphoria, we don't need a new potion make-over." He gave another small laugh at the thought of having their potion explode over them.

"Hey, watch it. If I laugh right now we are going to have to start all over again if I make this cauldron explode and then you're going to have to get me a new one." Amelia was laughing so hard at this point that she had to put down the essence of euphoria and put her head down on the desk just so she could regain her composure. When she finally stopped laughing, Amelia poured about a quarter of the essence of euphoria into the cauldron as steadily and slowly as she could before she answered Xurdion's question. "I don't know. I put my name in but I never got a response back and I've been trying to get a hold of the person who is in charge but still nothing." Amelia sighed it would be really horrible that she was practicing all summer to be an excellent chaser and then have the house team turn her down in her final year at Hogwarts. "Right now I don't want to think about it. I'll be back, I'm going to get the sea glass containers." Amelia said and then made her way over to the cabinets that held said containers. ......

"Okay, I wish you the best of luck." He took the essence of Euphoria from the desk and slowly added it into the cauldron, it turned a sunshine yellow color as it was being poured. "Sorry, didn't mean to make you laugh so hard." He stirred the potion slowly, once he was at five he felt the need to laugh again so he slowed down, trying to force himself to hold back the temptation. "Hurry...I'm not so sure if I can contain myself." He was at ten stirs, they were almost done and he could let himself laugh. "Eleven...Twelve...Thirteen..." He thought as he continued to stir, watching the cauldron and trying to stop himself from laughing. "I was rather hoping to become team Captain but there are much more worthy canidates out there for the position." He couldn't see any reason why they would choose him over the others anyway, especially if Amelia got onto the team. "But anyway, you're the best contendent for the position, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't let you onto the team. They're probably just taking their time in answering, I wouldn't worry about it if I were you." He smiled as he finished stirring the potion. "Okay, I'm done stirring so all we need to do is get the potion from here to the proffessor."

Returning with the containers Amelia mimicked what Xurdion did with his potion and her potion also turned sunshine yellow. Ladling some potion into her container and sealing it Amelia laughed at Xurdion's comment. "We shall what we shall see. I wonder who is going to be captain of the team?" 'Probably another seventh year or maybe even Vlaityn.' Amelia thought to herself. It would be great if Vlaityn became captain she seemed to have those leaderships qualities that would make her great for the job. "I heard another girl was going out for my position and from what I hear she is really good. Oh well if I don't make it I'll be cheering you guys on from the sidelines. Let's get these up to Professor Krouso." .......

Xurdion smiled a fake smile, he wanted Amelia to get onto the team because in previous years they had worked well together, although he did work well with others. "I doubt they would cut you out of the team, I mean you are the one that helped us get to the finals last year." He recalled the semi-finals game of the previous year, they were dead tied with Hufflepuff. He had the quaffel and everyone was telling him to shoot but he knew he couldn't make it so he passed to Amelia who had made the goal with seconds to spare. "It was quite a game." Everyone was cheering so loud it was as if they had won the quidditch world cup. "Yeah..." He muttered as he filled the vial with the potion and went up to the proffessor's desk and placed the vial on it. "But still...I hope they don't choose the captain just because they play well, I think that Vlaityn would be good though..." He sighed as he sat back down at his desk and began to put his things away. "I wonder what everyone else is thinking about this, I'm ready for the season to start."

Amelia smiled at the memory. She had just noticed both the Hufflepuff seeker and the Ravenclaw seeker dive after the snitch before she heard someone shout, "AMELIA CATCH!" Amelia turned just in time to see Xurdion throw the quaffle towards her. Reaching out for the ball she barely saved it from being intercepted by one of the Hufflepull chasers and without even thinking she chucked the quaffle with all her might at the lowest hoop along the left side. The keeper being too preoccupied with the seekers and Xurdion's fake throw that he completely missed the ball as it soared right out of reach of his outstretched fingers. "That was teamwork, Xurdion. For one you made a spectacular pass and two if our seeker didn't catch the snitch we would've been done for despite the goal." "Maybe the whole team could put a request in for me as well, then they have to see that I'd be a great asset to the team." ........

"Thank you, but in the end you are the one that won the game for us. I know that I would put a vote in for you." He smiled as he finished putting his things away and slung the bag over his back. "But that was an amazing match, I couldn't have made that shot in a million years. Hufflepuff thought they had won. Ah, those were some good times..." He recalled the celebration after the match in the common room, they were treated like heroes after a long war. "Hufflepuff did play well and they tried their best though...it must have been a heartbreak for them to have lost." He also remembered the gloom that seemed to come over everyone whenever they got near a Hufflepuff. "The seeker took it especially harder than the rest of them..." The seeker for the Hufflepuffs had become fowl and spread rumors on how Ravenclaw cheated them. "But still in the end, you were the one that the whole match came down to..." He smiled again. "I would send a request for you, unfortunately I don't know how...I'll try and find the person who is recruiting for us, don't worry, with a little help you'll be in for sure."

Amelia sighed "Thanks Xurdion. Your a good friend you know that?" Amelia started to put away her things as well. She still couldn't believe that brewing that potion was it and there was no notes on the board nor homework. 'Well at least Professor Krouso is being nice this year and taking it easy on his seventh years before the real work begins for our N.E.W.T's.' Bringing her sea glass container of potion up to the Professor and then coming back to her table to sit down until the bell rang, Amelia began to wonder what was going to happen to her this year. 'After this it's over. No more education and I'm out trying to find a job and my own place to live.' :Sigh: 'I need to end this year off with a bang and as of now I'm well on my way to doing so.' .......
