okay, for those that have lived in a secret lair underground in Antarctica and have no access to the outside world, FFXI came out a year or so ago, and is an MMORPG with no offline modes. i just bought it today and am currently registering everything (you HAVE to designate a payment method even if you only plan on using the month you get free, although i think $15 a month may very well be worth it if you can afford it, which almost anyone with a job can).
anyone else play? if so, do tell experiences, character info, and your opinions on the game. i'll list my stuff as soon as i finish (hopefully later tonight or tomorrow morning)

i did buy the game then before registering it i realised you have to that much and i dont have that dort of money a month crying

you get a month free then you can cancel afterwards if you want. i am going to try to keep playing, i shouldn't have a problem, it's only $15 a MONTH. as for balmung, what you mean you can access the game even though you've got everything?
oh, and update on me, i still haven't started it, i've got to go open a checking accound and get a debit/credit card tomorrow so i'll probably be starting tomorrow afternoon.
my current goal: lvl 10 in two days or less.

I believe you can make it to 10 in less then 2 days, it took me 3 to get lvl 18 and my subjob(which is a pain in the a** along with the chocobo licence) what server are you on because i am currently resided in the Cerberus server and my stats are as follows: Thief: 21 Warrior: 19 Monk (the best of them all in my opinion): 18 Black Mage: 14 White Mage: 12 Red Mage (i refuse to lvl this job it just sucks) 1 Total hours of gameplay: 12 days 11 hours 2 minutes Race: Elvaan Linkshells: TheKnightsoftheZilart, PsychoWard (i have pearlsacks to both of these) Current gil: 17k Starting Residence: San d'Oria Current residence: Sand'Oria Current Home Point: Valkrum Dunes Current Title: Royal Archer Favorite Weapon: Claymore (the ******** sword is almost as big as i am, ill get pics when i get on next time) Edit: here they are...theres only 2 though and they may be a little dark   Current Status: I have no life outside Gaia and FFXI

If anyone needs world passes to Cerberus please ask me we need moer people on the server, we are currently the 3rd least populated server and are hurting for people to come. Upon entering the server you will get a power lvl from me to lvl 10 and weill also recieve a linkpearl to both linkshells and possibabily morepower leveling from our higher lvl friends in the linkshells, i will teach all those that need help the complete basics and a lot of the advanced stuff (skillchaining, Magic Bursting, ect.) plus more help again from the Linkshells. PM me for more details and ask for world passes if you want them.

i am currently on Pandemonium server cuz i didn't know which one to join at the time, but i'm willing to commute to Cerberus. i'm not sure how the world passes work exactly though...

It says I don't have the correct Hardwar TnL but I do, i bought knew stuff.

that hardware tnl is a texture and lighting protocol on specific graphics cards. if it isn't working, i'm not sure what to tell you, just google it and try to find something. sorry.
ffxi requirements (min)
windows 98 or higher
800mhz processor or faster
128mb ram
nvidia geforce series card with 32mb+ or ati radeon 9000 series card
direct x 8.1 compatible sound card
at least 6GB free hard drive space

I played a year ago on the Bahamut server. Did mithra up to 32 war/22 mon/18 ran/12 nin, plus a few random levels of other classes. I've actually been thinking about giving it another attempt, the game just has so many big problems. Do the japanese still run bots constantly to farm all the rare drops and run up market prices?

as far as i know, it is all fairly secure now. i haven't run into a whole lot of japanese people in the game at all on pandemonium server. perhaps tomorrow i'm going to make another account on cerberus server, if i can get my registration fixed...
current: lvl 12 war (i've got 9 lvls in blm too, for when i hit lvl 1 cool

I'm still iffy. Whenever I think back on my time playing it, the majority of the memories are bad. The overly limited character creation, the inability to personalize your character through armor/clothing, the idiotic leveling system, the HOURS sitting around doing nothing while waiting to form a party to participate in the bad leveling system... I'm a bit jaded.

those problems are present in all MMOs...you lvl up 90% of the time, very little story, but you interact with others, that is the fun of them!
