Stepping carefully, Mut scanned the horizon. She'd come the way the hare had told her, now what? She didn't know what to look for, really, just a blind knight. What was a knight, anyway? She'd never heard of one before. She'd never even SEEN one. What did they actually LOOK like? What--

Had just happened to the ground? As she sat up, she realized... She'd just tumbled down a slope. Looking around, she found herself in a dried-out river bed. As she slowly picked herself up, a rustling caught her attention. Eyes wide, she turned towards it, only to have a bird fly by, startled from its perch. Shaken, the lioness began to walk along the riverbed.

Where the heck was everyone? His paws felt as if they were simply going to pop off the ends of his feet and that would be the end of that. Paki wasn't known for being belligerant in any manner but when it came to things like finding his way around an unknown land... he could get a little snippy when he was lost.

He'd been walking for hours, lost... hopelessly lost.

Without warning the ground dissapeared and his foot seemed to take forever to hit land. Instantly Paki was hurled down what felt like a solid rock wall to the bottom.

Landing right on his nose to boot.

"OUCH!" The young adult male sat up with his large chocolate colored paws covering his nose and his blind eyes crossed as if he could even see what it was he was looking at on his own nose. Paki was a hopeless sort of case, but at least it could be said that he was trying to find his way around.

Chocolate-colored ears perked up, listening. Had she just heard someone cry out in pain...? Frowning, Mut turned and followed the sound. If someone was hurt, they'd need help. The bracelets around her right forepaw and the necklace she wore danced, letting out happy little jingles as she moved.

The sight that greeted her had her rushing over. "Are you alright?!" She circled the other lion, looking for any form of injury. After a moment, she came around in front of him, noticing him holding his nose. "Is your nose hurt?"

Instinct had Paki nearly leaping out of his furry hide the moment she popped up suddenly like that. But the tinkling and jingles that had met his ears right before her voice's abrupt coming had warned him that something unnatural to the area was around.

But a female? And from the smell of her a lioness... Maybe she knew his sister?

Though by now he was starting to give up on that. Maybe that was just the way it was meant to be.

"Well... yes and no. It hurts but it'll be fine." His light eyes stared foreward without seeing her and he smiled for her, putting his chocolate colored paws down on the dirt. "Where am I? If you don't mind my asking. I didn't even realize there was a mountain here."

"Are you sure...?" She circled again, then looked at his nose. It didn't look TOO bad... But it also looked like it had greeted the ground a few times. "That wasn't a mountain... It was a slope... You're in a dried-out riverbed..."

She noticed very fast his lack of visual focus. She'd seen that before in her brother. She knew that look VERY well. "You're blind..." It wasn't a question in the least. And from the looks of it, his was natural. He'd never seen a thing in his life.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 01, 2008 11:09 pm

"Oh.... well then ignore my idiocy... I thought that was a mountain, I've never fallen down anything that high before and I thought it accurately described it." Paki stumbled a bit on his words before this lioness, not sure what he was supposed to do.

Gods though if she wasn't blunt. Most stumbled around the fact that he was blind and decided not to address the fact at all out of pity. Rather they treated him overly sensitively.

"Yeah, but I can see with my nose and paws most of the time... except apparently for when I'm falling down in ravines." The large lion stood and his shaggy mane fell back down before his eyes like a curtain once more. The stripes on his sides moved and stretched a bit as the dozens of things hanging off his neck and tail and ankles and ears jangled together and made enough noise to wake the dead. Once they'd all settled he sniffed around himself and flicked his ears and turned his blind eyes to the lioness.

"My name's Paki, what's yours?" the male smiled at her kindly, that part of his face visible despite how much was covered by a massive curtain of mane. Even the fur on his belly and tail and legs was hanging off of him in an equally strange way. He looked like an odd fuzzy herdbeast sometimes.

"Aw, it wasn't idiocy. You just weren't expecting it." She sat down, necklace jingling merrily. She tilted her head, smiling. "I have a brother who does that... He has to see with his nose and ears and paws, too." She paused, frowning. "But he's also got others to help him."

Watching the various baubles move on the lion, Mut found herself interested. That was... A lot of stuff. For somebody blind, he managed to find a lot. Leaning over, she sniffed at the trinkets on his neck. He also had a lot of hair... It made the lioness wonder how soft it was.

Looking up at his question, she blinked. "Oh... I'm Mut'salama... But most everybody calls me Mut for short." She reached a paw up, moving the mane from in front of his eyes. "You know, you have a LOT of hair... Doesn't it get caught in bushes?"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 08, 2008 10:11 pm

A laugh worked its way from Paki's muzzle and he nodded his head a bit, his long mane swaying slightly in the wind as he did so. She was right, he didn't expect to fall down at all.

"I can see like that, but I can tell when someone's close to me just by feeling them at a distance. Don't know why, probably does have something to do with the excess amount of fur." Paki pondered for a moment, he wasn't sure why but whenever someone got close to him it was like his whole body twinged and he could tell where they were. It was odd.

Wriggling his nose when she touched it to move his mane from where it had apparently fallen once more before his blind eyes, the larger male sniffed her. She tinkled like metal and odd objects, yet she smelled just like a normal lioness. Maybe she collected things like he did?

"Mut? That's an odd name but okay." He grinned at her, "Yeah there's a lot of it. No one knows why it's all there, but it does get caught on bushes and sometimes long grass. I got tangled up on a tree once... Wasn't a pleasant experience."

She blinked, moving around to examine more of the excessive hair. "Maybe it's like whiskers... They sense things..." It was a thought, at least. A theory... She paused, grooming a bramble out of it. "But it sure does get tangled!"

As she sat back, she couldn't help but smile. "Paki isn't all that normal to my ears, either... But Mut means Mother." She paused, ears folding back. Mother... Her mother... The mother she'd never known. She shook her head, trying to forget for the moment. "What's yours mean?"
PostPosted: Fri Aug 15, 2008 8:00 pm

Screwing up his face at how she touched him and ruffled around through his thick mane, Paki ignored it, letting her continue because he didn't often have others touch him. It almost reminded him of how his mother used to fluff up his little mane in order to get dirt and sticks out of it when he was little.

"Mother? Your mother must have known you would make a good one as well in the future if she named you that." Paki said with a bright smile, ignoring that she was still touching him until she let go, presumably to step back a bit away from him to give herself some space. "Actually Paki means 'witness' so I've been told. I think it was my father's way of being ironic about my blindness."

The large cream colored lion chuckled at the idea of his own name, it was fairly ironic. He could see Kifijo absolutely thinking his son would love his name and that his mate would get a good kick out of it. Tana would probably hit him and that would be the end of it, Paki had a feeling he took too much after his father sometimes.

Sadness suddenly crept into his large chest and he looked down at his feet, or rather 'looked', Paki simply inclined his head, eyes never really moving at all. A sad smile spread over his muzzle and split the white around his mouth for a breif moment. His family.... he missed his family. After all, it was his family that sent him on this journey, to find Moyo.

She couldn't help but shrug, frowning sadly. She'd barely known her mother... She had to shake her head to clear the sadness again. Paki appeared to have his own sadness. She went over, gently butting his shoulder. "Hey, what's wrong? You look sad..." She looked up at him, through the hair in his face. She didn't really want to see him so sad...
PostPosted: Mon Aug 18, 2008 10:33 pm

The headbutt seemed to clear up his mind enough for Paki to lift his head and focus once more. He was in a strange place with a lioness he only knew the name of and he had fallen down a ravine into a dried out river.

"Oh... n-nothing... Just remembering my family. It's been a long time since I've been with them. Makes you wonder what they're doing at the moment." He smiled, the sadness still eating a hole in his chest for a moment before he dashed it down to a small sliver of pain.

There was always pain to be had, always had to be carried with one. He'd lost a lot in his childhood, not as much as some lions but enough for him to recognize pain when he felt it. Paki was usually better at hiding it than expressing it, but this lioness had found the one chord within his huge loving heart that could be plucked to cause more pain than he knew.

"So um... do you know where exactly whe are? I was told I was near the pridelands... but I'm in a river. Is this near the pridelands?" He turned his head to face where he thought she was with curiosity written across his pale features. "I came here looking for my older sister Moyo... seems I can't find her for all that I look everywhere I can think of."

Paki's deep voice laughed a bit for a moment before he went silent again and sniffed around him. Nothing was around here was it?

She smiled, though it was sad, listening to Paki. It seemed to her that something she'd said had triggered a sad memory of some sort. She just didn't know what sort it was, beyond what it seemed.

Standing up, the lioness looked around. It wasn't too grandly hard to figure it out. In fact... She could still see Pride Rock in the distance, even down in the river bed. "We're actually not far from the Pridelands..." She looked over, watching the hairy lion.

Her ears flicked, hearing the name. "Moyo... Yes, I think I've seen her! I'd describe her looks, but... That wouldn't help much, would it...?" She shook her head, then smiled. "I can take you there! There's a lot of lions, but she should be there!"
PostPosted: Mon Aug 18, 2008 10:49 pm

Both of his sightless eyes widened all at once. She knew his sister, this lioness before him knew where Moyo was! After all these years someone knew where Moyo was!

Without even thinking about it, Paki reached out with his two large front legs and pulled her to him in a hug. It was a move he'd pulled with his siblings, he even used to do it to the legs of his parents. It was nothing out of the ordinary to him for a hug to be shared when someone had given him something or done something for him that he hadn't believed possible.

This... this Paki didn't believe was possible.

"You know her! Someone finally knows my sister! Thank you!" Paki crowed brightly, a giant smile spreading over his muzzle, showing off every one of his many sharp white teeth. "Thank you thank you! I can't believe it! Bodaway and Khepri where right, this WAS the right place!"

After a long moment of happiness he released the lioness and leapt to his large feet in a flurry of jangles and noise, nearly wiggling with the happiness of finding someone that knew his big sister. How lucky was he?! And this lioness seemed kind enough to show him where she was even!

Mut let out a surprised sound, not having expected the hug. But that was all it was - Surprise. She wasn't all that bothered by it. She was, in fact, one for affection. After all, she HAD been touching him moments before, even bumped his shoulder with her forehead.

When he mentioned Bodaway, she had to stop in surprise. "Bodaway? You know the Firekin Bodaway? How?" She looked at him, leaning back to regard him. This was surprising news. She'd heard about Bodaway from Danzi and Kabichi, and had even the chance once to meet him when he was visiting Ishara. How did this blind creature know the Firekin with a big heart?
