Today the weather was decent and the time was about mid-afternoon. It seemed to be alright to wait outside for the other person to arrive and besides it was nice fresh summer day. Riulve felt only the occasional flutters within her gut that she was not expecting to feel while waiting for her 'date' to arrive. Nerves would wash over her and then disappear as if they had never existed. On the outside she looked deceptively calm and pulled together, with her elbow resting upon the table and her chin rested in the palm of her hand as her icy gaze gazed above the tops of her small slick looking romani sunglasses.

She had come early and she had done so on purpose. Riulve wanted to see what the café was like and she wanted to also see what kind of people came here. She didn't watch people directly or continually. The white haired woman would give a cursory glance or a polite nod when needed and observed as she tried to be unobserved.

Riulve dressed casually, a slinky maroon dress that might otherwise have been formal was dressed down by the boots, gloves, and other things she wore. It was how she liked it and it felt almost like a tribute, in a way, to her grandfather who always bugged her to dress better.

Harriet Fenmoore felt awkward leaving his daughter at home to go on another date. It wasn't that he didn't trust Bella and her skills as babysitter, but he hadn't been out by himself since before he'd received the child. Also, he knew nothing of this woman. His last date had been a little awkward and he had no idea what to expect of the new one.

Glancing down at himself, he hoped he wasn't dressed too formally or too casually for the situation this time. The blonde tended to be told he was a bit over-dressy with his attire. However, on his last date, he'd tried to wear something more normal and ended up with a date who wore a bridesmaid's gown.

Today he wore a tight pair of blue jeans-selected for him by Bellaluna and Alice, who insisted they showed off his butt nicely-and a maroon silk shirt with somewhat puffy sleeves. His boots and miniature top hat were simple and black-the hat velvety with a silk band and the boots of a shiny leather. Hopefully letting his girls chose his outfit was a good move.

When he arrived, he spotted his date outside of the cafe and his mind quietly noted the fact that they at least matched a bit. Maybe that was a good sign? Oh well, best to get this started. At least he wasn't late...or too early like he was last time.

"H-hello." he said softly, approaching from the front. He had met a lot of people in his time who utterly hated it if you walked up behind them and 'tried not to startle them'. So behind direct should be somewhat helpful. "You're Riulve, right?"

Riulve wandered from people watching to daydreaming and thinking about her own children left behind with her elderly neighbor, this time together. She hoped that the two hadn’t suddenly decided to misbehave. Though it was that or take them along on the date and the idea had seemed uncouth somehow for reasons she couldn’t quite fathom.

Her eyes had a distant dreamy quality to them until the man came up and addressed her. She blinked and sat up a bit and tilted her head, "Mmm? Yeah, that's me." she stood up and she offered her hand to him. A handshake seemed a proper way to start off. "What do you prefer to be called?" She found it safer to ask than to assume or call him a name at random.

Harriet smiled and lightly shook her hand. "Harriet or Hatty. Whichever. I'm not particularly picky when it comes to what people call me, provided it's not derogatory." he laughed a little at this. Some guy had call him a pansy once and it had been only after Bella had punched the guy that he found it wasn't meant as a term for a flower.

After the greetings were exchanged, Harriet figured it was probably okay to take the seat across from his date. After checking that there weren't any fuzzy creatures or books hiding on the seat - you never knew what you might offend by sitting on - he took up the position at the table.

Now that that was out of the way, he was at a loss. His last date had run the conversation a bit and he had no idea what would be acceptable with his new companion. Would she even WANT to talk to him?

"Hatty, then." She said as she sat down while Hatty settled himself into his seat. There was a silence that reached out between them for a moment. She had the option to date and so she had no clue what to expect or to say. She knew nothing of the man other than the fact that he seemed just as tall -- if not taller -- as she was. A fact that was well appreciated.

Riulve took in a breath and then parted her lips to speak once more, "So, what are your interests?" it seemed a good place to start. She wanted to know more about him more than she wanted to talk about herself, naturally if asked she would divulge information but for now talking about him seemed a fine place to start.

The blonde breathed a sigh of relief internally. Well at least she wasn't completely opposed to talking to him. He was worried that if he said a thing she might bite his head off for breaking her concentration-not that she seemed the type, but you never knew.

"I'm not entirely sure yet. I've only recently come to Gaia so I could figure such things out. So far gardening, dancing and fashion design seem interesting but I don't know what all there is out there. How about you?" the man asked.

It wasn't that Harriet didn't want to talk about himself, but a one-sided conversation tended to feel too stuffy and egotistical for him. Plus he'd much rather find out as much about his date as she found out about him.

She reached up and removed her glasses as an afterthought and an act of showing the other person respect, in a way. Besides the light of the day was dimming and the air around them was starting to cool a bit, thankfully. While Riulve had gotten used to summer and warm weather in general it didn’t mean she liked it.

"Hmmm, I do not have many interests or hobbies to be honest," she admitted with a shrug. "I guess I like to read, I sing a little -- badly," there was a brief pause before she continued, "and I like to snowboard and ski." She had tried both of those sports during the first winter in Gaia and quite enjoyed them. For now Hatty didn't need to know she enjoyed hunting, while in wolf form, because that was the best way to hunt, she felt. The details of how and where she hunts would be enough to frighten many people, possibly even the man before her.

Harriet felt rather relieved at that. Oh good, so he didn't seem like a weirdo for not knowing exactly what he liked. The man always felt so awkward when out with people since they always seemed to find him weird for being a bit of a shut-in workaholic.

"This year will be my first winter on Gaia...or in general. I previously lived somewhere that really only shifted between summer and autumn." he told her with a shrug. "My daughter seems quite excited for winter to come though. She saw snow and a christmas scene in a movie and has been excited ever since."

It worried him a bit to say that he had a daughter, but best to get that out in the open. She wasn't his biologically so it wasn't really something he should have to hide.

"Hmm, where I came from it was far to the north and it was almost always snowy," she said thoughtfully, her mind trying to wrap around a world that only sported cloaks of summer and autumn. "Of course there were occasional thaws but other than that..." Riulve shrugged and fell silent to listen to him again, her head canting to the side.

"Ahh, you have a child? I have two." She seemed okay with him having a child, how could she not be? It seemed odd and hypocritical not to be.

"I am sure she will like winter for at least the first few weeks." Riulve grinned a bit and let out a small chuckle, "Not many enjoy the winter at least not for very long."

Well this was an interesting turn of events. She came from a place with limited seasons, like he did, and had kids, same as him. Having things in common was a plus, wasn't it?

"Oh? Biological or Otherwise?" the man laughed a little, "Mine seems to be a reborn angel that I ended up finding in a meadow."

"I don't know. Alice seems to enjoy quite a lot that most people wouldn't."

Riulve shook her head, "Both are otherwise. One appeared at my doorstep and the other was thrust upon me at some strange place that seem to be doing some sort of strange study on hybrids of some sort." She seemed indifferent but there seemed to be a measure of warmth as she talked about her children despite the uncongenial ways they had come into her life.

Again she fell silent and then nodded, "So I see. I am sure you take good care of her despite the way you came upon her." She figured it was sometimes hard to feel anything for a child you simply 'find' or have forced upon you. Though in her case she became at once protective and in a way possessive in the way only a mother could.

"Do you know anything about the one on your doorstep? I've heard rumors that a few of my friends have been leaving reborn god babies for people to care for. Something of that nature anyway." Harriet commented, eyebrows wrinkling a bit at the thought. He honestly didn't understand what all was going on with his associates.

"Oh, I hope I take good care of her. Alice is a sweetheart." He'd become quite attached to the little girl and quite protective from the moment he found her dying in the meadow. The child was loving and affectionate, and he delighted in being able to make her smile.

She shook her head, "I haven't any clue about that one, really. He seems to be friendly enough towards others, though so I guess that is alright." Riulve shrugged as if content to leave it at that. "Though, if you wish to meet him some day -- er well. I don't know that is a little presumptuous..." For all she knew he'd likely not want anything to do with her when the night was over.

Riulve nodded, "As long as you love her I am sure you are doing fine."

Small pause, "Thirsty or anything? I am sure we could flag someone down and order something." At least Riulve hoped they could.

He grinned pleasantly at her. "We might be able to arrange something." he replied with a nod.

Glancing around, he remembered right then that they were at a cafe and actually expected to probably buy something. "Oh! Yeah, I guess we should order. Forgive me, I completely forgot we were at a cafe." he told her sheepishly. "I don't get out much."

Riulve nodded a bit, "That could be lovely, perhaps you could even bring your pup--er child." She had amended herself at the end as some people either looked at her oddly or just didn't seem to mind. Still, in the interest of this date she tried to behave.

The white haired woman simply chuckled and waved a hand dismissively, "I ordered something a while ago to stave them off for a bit." She explained, hence why no one really bothered them though she hadn't yet received her bill. Leaning back while at the same time lifting a arm to flag down a harried waiter near by. "Attend, please."

The waiter came up with their little notebook with an expression that seemed mildly interested.
