As he sat nursing a cup of tea, the blue haired man couldn't help but contemplate if he was going about this whole dating experience the right way- he'd tried to do some research about it on google, but google only supplied so much. And some of the things he'd read- well they just didn't seem appropriate.
So far as it went, this was Frex's first date; ever, and so he'd tried to dress nice. As nice as his current meager wardrobe allowed anyway. He'd had to go out and buy a plain white t-shirt, since he didn't think a white or green wife beater would be the best choice; and had gotten his black slacks dry cleaned and pressed so they were smooth and crisp. His jacket was clean; a black pea coat that wasn't particularly water resistant, and he'd shined and un-scuffed his boots. He hadn't know what to do with his hair- so he'd brushed it, but it still stuck up at some odd angles and looked a little bit messy, even despite his best efforts. And, from what he'd read, the general consensus was that arriving early was greatly preferred to arriving late for a date- so indeed, Frex had arrived early.
By a couple of hours, at least. He'd drank a couple of cups of tea by now, and outside it had start to pour. Frex had seen that there were a lot of people who didn't like the rain- and so maybe it would detain his date- or maybe she wouldn't come at all.
Frex fidgeted in uncomfortably in his seat. This had been an entirely bad idea on his part; there were any number of things that could go wrong. Not to mention the fact that he was deathly afraid of getting knee-deep into a relationship that he really couldn't bring himself to commit to. It would be too hard for all parties involved--
But none the less, Brandy had extended the invitation, and Frex couldn't bring himself to be so rude as to decline when he had in fact sent the letter he'd received back to the dating service. At the very least, perhaps he could make Brandy's day a little brighter.
But again he focused on the downpour outside, wondering if she would come. Lightning flashed across the sky, and he smiled a little. He liked to watch storms like this; a fascinating display of mother nature's power; a chaotic ballet of dangerous electrical charges... He watched as another bolt flashed across the sky, while the wind picked up outside...
It happened abruptly- the thunder rolled, and the wind howled outside; then the lights went out. Frex blinked a bit as the cafe went dark- well, darker. It wasn't all that late in the day, and the occasional flash of lightning helped to illuminate the room.
"Sir, you're going to have to leave, if you don't mind," one of the barrista's said behind him, and Frexspar turned, looking at her curiously for a moment, before nodding a bit.
"Can I just get another refill of tea- and maybe a cup an extra cup of coffee before it all goes cold?" he asked, fishing a twenty out of his wallet and holding it out to her, "I don't need the change, just the drinks,"
So there he was, standing outside underneath one of the awnings, but still managing to get pretty soaked with the wind whipping the rain around. It made him trying to make his hair look acceptable and choosing clean clothes a little bit obsolete. But, even if she didn't come, he'd probably stay there for a few hours at least- just to make sure she wasn't coming, and didn't think he was trying to stand her up. And hey, he had tea in one hand, and a cup of coffee for her in the other-
Though, he wasn't even sure she liked coffee. But he'd even thought to grab a few little creamers, and a couple baggies of sugar and splenda (in case she was diabetic- or just didn't like real sugar) tucked away in the pocket of his jacket.

Brandy felt a tad bit like a drowned rat. The cold wind whipped through her hair and the rain had washed all her carefully applied makeup off a while ago. Her shoes squished every time she stepped and her skirt and top were both waterlogged and most likely ruined. She struggled up the sidewalk in the direction of the café, trying to manage a now wind bent and batted pink umbrella that she’d stopped to buy when the weather had began to turn bad.
Why didn’t she take a cab, she wondered as she sifted her purse from one arm to the other in an attempt to gain better control over the umbrella. The movement caused her to stumble in the heels and almost loose her balance into a particularly large puddle. Thankfully, she managed to catch herself against the side of the building. She’d reached her destination; wet, tired, and feeling a little lost, but on whole intact.
Standing straight, she squared her shoulders into something she hoped resembled a ladylike confidence, and marched toward the front of the shop. She wasn’t going to let a little something like not looking her 100% best ruin this first impression. But on closer inspection, the place appeared closed. Brandy frowned and looked at her watch. She was less than five minutes late, a record by her standards.
Then she noticed the man, rain drenched and a worried looking, standing to the far side of the door, his hands occupied with styrofoam carry-out cups. Could this really be him? What kind of guys would wait in the rain like this for a blind first date? Brandy walked toward him cautiously; taking in the messy blue hair, rain-soaked, but otherwise clean, clothes and unusually pale skin. He was. . . different.
“Hello.” She said once in hearing distance. “Nice weather we’re having.”

Frex couldn't even brush the longer parts of his bangs out of his eyes- because both of his hands were currently occupied.
Well, at least his hands were warm. And every sip of tea he took from his cup served to chase at least a little bit of the chill that the wind whipped at him away. It wasn't much- but it was enough relief that he could stand there as long as it took.
He'd been there for about twenty minutes when she finally came up the sidewalk, and as he watched, he wondered whether or not it was really her- she looked much prettier than the picture he'd been sent, even despite the fact she was soaked to the bone.
Oh! Damn, she was soaked too. Somehow he'd hoped that maybe she'd have some kind of invisible force-field to keep her dry so that they didn't both have to be soaked and a little bit cold. While this wouldn't make him miserable, he was pretty sure it wouldn't do anything to make her feel particularly comfy.
"Hi," he greeted, smiling, though it was a little bit shy, "Yeah, the weather is-" he glanced up, and chuckled, "Just wonderful,"
He looked back at her, and just stared for a moment- before he realized that he'd almost forgot the coffee he'd gotten for her, and held it out.
"I got you a coffee- I don't know if you like coffee... At least it'll be warm for your hands, I mean, it was warm for mine- I've got cream and sugar in my pocket..." he was rambling a little, bit, and once she'd taken the coffee he stuck his hand in his pocket- but grimaced a little, pulling out the creamers, and the now soaked sugar packets.
"Sorry, apparently sugar doesn't hold up to flood waters very well," he murmured apologetically as he held his hand out.
But he'd completely forgotten his manners, and his eyes widened.
"I'm sorry- I'm Frexspar, Or, ah, just Frex is fine, and you're Brandy? It's a pleasure to meet you, even despite the rain,"

Brandy withheld the urge to laugh at the man’s babble. He was, cute. She carefully folded the nearly useless umbrella, and accepted the coffee graciously, taking a long sip of the still very warm liquid. He was right, it did help ward off the chill of the rain, she thought, blissfully happy for the warmth.
“It’s fine, thank you.” She told him politely. “I do like coffee, though I usually drink it black.” Actually, she usually drank much strong coffee than this black, but this was heaven on earth considering the circumstances. She smiled into the cup, this was actually very nice.
“Yes, I’m Brandy.” She said, after a moment of letting the warmth of the coffee settle into her stomach. “And it’s very nice to meet you too.” She shifted her feet awkwardly, she had been late, even if only by a little bit, maybe she should apologize? “I’m sorry if I kept you waiting.” She finally said, after an internal deliberation. “The rain caught me off guard.” She took another deep sip of coffee and drinking it in slowly and thoroughly enjoying it.
“I hope you weren’t kept waiting too long.” She smiled apologetically.

He might have been cute- but he was also a little bit nervous. Okay, so perhaps he wasn't just a little bit nervous, but a lot nervous. He didn't really know how one was supposed to act on a date- a lot of what he'd read had said to just be himself. But that wasn't easy for Frex either. This dating thing sure wasn't easy! Not that he'd expected it to be, or anything...
"Oh, well-" he smiled, tucking the creamers back into his pocket; he was glad he'd just left it black. And, he was glad he'd bought the coffee for her. This weather was miserable! Well, for her maybe, Frex still kind of liked it...
"I'm glad you drink coffee... I was- worried," generally most of the adult Gaian populace enjoyed caffeine in some form, and statistically speaking he'd had a pretty good chance of her liking the cup of java- yet still, he'd second guessed himself. But, it had all turned out alright so far.
"It's fine," he replied in regards to her timing, giving her a more confidant smile than before; from his calculations she'd been about six minutes and eighteen seconds late- give or take a moment, but hey, who was counting? Or, calculating, in Frexspar's case, "And no, I wasn't waiting very long,"
He'd only been two and a half hours early; no big deal.... He'd had plenty to think about, and, he'd enjoyed sitting back and sipping his tea, for awhile; at least until the power had gone out anyway.
"We should get somewhere that's dry," he suggested, "And, with power, that would be good too,"
He looked around, wondering how far the outage extended. Ideally, it would only extend a couple of blocks- but then, he couldn't be sure. Perhaps they'd just have to walk until they found somewhere dry... But oh, wouldn't she want to go home? She was soaked- and in her skirt, looked as though she might be a bit- well, cold. He frowned as he tried to come up with a solution to this particular problem, and sighed softly. Just his luck for it to pour with rain on his very first date...

Despite the warmth from the coffee Brandy shivered a little in the unrelenting wind. Her short denim skirt offered little protection from the elements and her semi-sheer top, which had looked so nice and innocent in the mirror a short while ago, was rendered see-through giving the world a peek at her stylish lacey bra. She sighed and ran her hand nervously over the skirt, wishing she had worn better clothing for rain, not to mention modesty.
“Well. . .” She said, shifting uncomfortably from one foot to another and wishing her shoes weren’t so cold. “We could go back to my place for some dry clothes.” She didn’t want to sound like she was inviting him up like a whore, but she desperately wanted a clean, warm outfit. This was supposed to be different, so she was pretending she wasn’t used to having guys over all the time.

Frex was quite possibly the only (questionably) straight man on the planet who could resist staring at her see through shirt with ease. He knew it was very, very impolite to stare- and the last thing he needed was a smack upside the head for such impropriety. So, he kept his eyes keenly focused on her face.
He didn't miss that her shirt was all but revealing her to the world, and without a word, he turned a bit to shrug off his sopping wet jacket, and offer it to her.
"Some of the lining is still a little bit dry," he explained as he dropped it politely on her shoulders. For his modesty's sake, as much as her own! Frex didn't know what else one was supposed to do with a woman who was sporting a see through shirt...
And indeed, there was a few spots on the jacket that WERE dry. Small patches underneath the arms, and in the sleeves- but, no where particularly useful... Still, Frex had been warm, and so too, his jacket was still a little bit warm. And, it offered her cover, and a bit of relief from the bite of chill winds.
Oh, and now she was inviting him back to her place? He blinked, at a loss for what to reply to that. That was supposed to be a good thing, wasn't it?
But then, Frex wasn't actually supposed to make these date things work out... In the end it would be- so-... Painful, for her.
"Of course, I'm sure you'd like to change," he murmured, when he finally managed to feel not quite so flustered about the offer.
Oh dear, he was really wading himself into the mud now, wasn't he?
...Not that it was supposed to a bad thing- but...
