Tiny hooves moved hesitantly foreward, seemingly unsure of themselves. The face of the filly they belonged to, however, appeared no less than excited. Wings flared and heart racing, Phaedra raced foreward, eager about her first attempt at flight. She had no idea what she was doing, nor had she seen another Soquili take off for flight, but she'd studied birds flying, and thought she had it.
The filly jumped flapped her wings as hard as she could mid-run, and when she was air-born, stopped moving her wings and soared a few feet above the ground. Every time she'd slowed down or thought she was going to crash, Phae would flap her wings a few times and soar more. Shrieks of glee emerged from the foal's lips, but quickly stopped. How... How was she supposed to get down? Pulling her wings in while she was in the air would surely cause her to fall and hurt herself. But, what else was she supposed to do?

A strange current of air swished Dani's bangs, and she stopped grazing and looked up, confused. It was really only a whisper, the barest disturbance in the air, but to Dani, who had inherited a sensitivity to the air from her winged mother, it was deadly noticeable on that windless day.
A quick glance behind her soon identified the cause. A little blue filly was flapping her tiny, multi-colored wings a few feet off the ground. Thinking back, Dani realized that she had heard shrieks of what she presumed to be joy, but hadn't fully registered them in her contemplation.
Dani cantered to the filly curiously. Wasn't she a little young to be flying unsupervised? "Hello there," she said, placing herself strategically under the filly. If she was going to fall, Dani imagined that her lean back would prove a kinder landing than the grassy earth. Besides, she could handle a few bruises without complaint, but she strongly doubted that a little filly would be as indifferent about a broken leg.
