Pounce, roll, miss bug. Pounce, roll, miss bug. Ekun huffed, rather annoyed that she couldn't catch a stupid beetle. She sat down, glaring at the beetle that skittered away to hide under a large rock. It was just her luck, huh? Ekun stopped glaring and sighed. And then...she spotted HIM. The rabbit that always seemed to be wherever she was. Eyes narrowed and she grinned.
She'd get him this time.
So there he was, trotting along, minding his own business when all of a sudden the grass exploded and a rabbit came flying out. The critter hit his flank before scrambling over him and continuing on. And despite the scratches, Safi was far too stunned to notice any pain from them if there was any.
"What the-AHCK!" He suddenly found himself falling after a rather furry weight ran into him. "Owie..."
Ekun had been chasing the stupid rabbit (why did he have to run/hop so fast?!), and suddenly found herself running into something much bigger that made a surprised noise. She and the other rolled a bit before flopping in a tangle of fuzzy limbs and confuzzledness. "Owie's right..."
Safi finally got the world to stop spinning and took a look at what had run into him. A little...feline-something. He wasn't sure what she was really. But she looked small. And furry. And about as surprised as him. And, being him, Safi said the first thing to come to mind.
"What're you?"
Now that did not go over well with the girl-cub. "What am I? What are you?! No WAY you're a lion or new-lion!" Ekun attempted to glare at the weird critter...but he looked so cute she just couldn't pull it off right. "I'm a lioness! A little one...but one day I'll be big like Mama!"
Safi thought for a moment. A lioness? Hadn't he heard something like that before. Eh. Anyways. "So you're still little like me? Hey! You wanna play?" He wagged his tail excitedly, a feat with her flopped on half of it. "I'm Safi!"

Ekun looked at the little...thing...with curiosity. "I'm Ekun, Safi. Nice ta meetcha! And sure I'll play!" She wiggled about to untangle herself from the golden furred thing. "So...What're you?" She had told him what she was, now it was only fair for him to do that same!
Safi bounced up once they were untangled, grin on his muzzle. "Imma wild dog! And one day...I'm gonna be bigger than my Papa, and maybe even my brothers!" His tail wagged even faster now, almost taking his butt with it. "So whatcha wanna play? There's tag and hide 'n' seek and racing..."
"Brothers? I've only got one brother...but I got two sisters! Poor 'Rai is outnumbered!" She sniggered as she shook herself off. "Racing is fun! Just gotta figure out from where to where!" Ekun looked around, excited to have a new playmate. "OH! We could go from that rock...to that watering hole! First one to splash in wins!"
That was a small family...Safi just shrugged that thought aside. He nodded at the terms. "YEAH! I never thought of a race ending in water 'fore! That's awesome!" He ran over to the rock she'd indicated, bouncing half the time.
Ekun laughed and followed, feeling rather proud of herself. No way would she loose! And she couldn't help but imagine the look on Shai or Ayo or 'Rai's face when she ran by, faster than a speeding gazelle! Once at the rock, she made ready to run.
"Ready...Set..."
"GO!" The two took off like speeding...well...a speeding pup and cub. Safi ran with his mouth slightly open, tongue lolling out, trying so hard not to wag his tail. He tripped once, but recovered quickly and splashed into the water first, grinning as he splashed around. "Yay! That was fun Ekun! Let's do it again!"
Ekun, however, had tripped quite a few times by the time she splashed into the water. She worked to catch her breathe, and gave Safi a tired stare. "Not right now, let's not." Her ears perked up suddenly and she groaned. "Sorry...I gotta go. Mama's calling me, with must mean bathtime and naptime." She playfully batted at Safi. "See ya later, dogbreath!"
As Ekun ran off, Safi bounced out of the water. "Okie-dokie, lionbutt! See ya again!" He sat, tail wagging almost to the point of taking his butt with it again. Today had been a very good day to get run into.
