Chen steps into the ring in a new sleeveless silk shirt, tight to his body, and having the style of a Chinese stop, the base color blue and the secondary lining color being gold. His pants were thicker in material, black and stopping just halfway down the calves. On his feet, kung fu shoes. In his right hand, his three-section staff, bundled up as his left hand held loose to his side. Across his right cheek, a horizontal scar of a cut he took three matches ago. Down his left, a more vertical scar from the same match.
Blood had been spilled for him to get this far. Now, he was here. The last match. The last opponent. His Asian eyes stared fiercely across the ring, relaxed in posture but stern in the mind.
"Blood was spilled at the beginning of this tournament. Blood will end it. Looks like this place is worthy of its name."

Crawley descended the stairs into the pit wearing some black pants, shoes, black shirt, belt. The usual stuff people wear. Save for the blood coming out the back of his right trap, forearm, and leg. But it was still sunshine and rainbows.
He eyed Chen as he entered. This was who he had to beat to be two time champion of the violent tournament known as Bloodbath.
After entering the arena he continued walking in a relaxed pace towards his large opponent. As he did he brushed his right arm back reveal a handle sitting in the waist of his pants. A handle that once he retrieved with his right hand, extended out, a baton...

Five inches weren't that large, were they? Anyhow, Chen has his right hand loosen the grip of his three sticks, two of them, an end and the middle part attached to it by a chain, falling to the ground, as the remaining end kept in the grip of his hand. With the staff resting on the floor, Chen would walk toward Crawley, dragging the weapon along, yet holding the end up at abdomen level. He saw the blood that was dripping from Crawley onto the floor from his right. Likely a recent wound from the previous fight.
When they had about five feet left between them, Chen takes no waste of time to swing his right arm forward, having the weapon bash at Crawley's left thigh with relentless speed.

Crawley stepped in with his right and began to rapidly draw a clockwise circle with his baton as he swept it across the ground to knock away the one swinging stick.
Continuing the movement, he came up, and around to 12:00 where the baton was set to smack Chen across the right side of his face. 5:00 where he was attacking the outside of the left knee and back around to 12:00 again to smack Chen across the face, steadily advancing and swirling both arms around though appearing random as he did to create an illusion of the strikes coming seemingly out of nowhere.

The end is deflected, but Chen moves it back into the grip of his left hand with momentum. With both ends in his hand, he slides his grip down to the chains of each one, having the middle settle horizontally between the two. It would now appear as if Chen had two sticks to Crawley's one.
Crawley came in, and Chen was ready. The baton strikes at his face, but Chen, holding the left stick upwards, with the right stick lower, blocks the attack, keeping enough distance of at least two feet between them. He takes a step back, using the right stick to meet the strike that came for his leg, right arm moving to the left. And when the baton came for his face again, the left stick was up in guard.
Chen simultaneously has the right end strike at the inside of Crawley's right thigh with a flick of his wrist.

Crawley took a shot across the inside of the thigh.
Along the same line, Crawley's second attack on Chen's head was stopped. His response as to immediately charge himself in enough to bend his right elbow and smash it in to his face, penetrating the limited one stick guard easily in this manner.
This elimination of distance also prompted him to also secure a grip on Chen's shirt at the abdomen level to keep him close and upright so he couldn't try and funny-bunny business.

The rush in told Chen to back out. He moves diagonally back and to the right, bending his waist back while taking a small hop on his toes in the same direction, avoiding an elbow and a grasp for his clothing. In response, he attacks each limb.
The left stick strikes at the bone of Crawley's elbow, as his right stick strikes at Crawley's wrist. This should at least give him a little warning of what it was like getting into range of his weapon, eyes focused and demeanor calm. After this, his right hand will take hold of the middle part, letting the end it was previously holding fall limp.

Neither strike would bother Crawley because both limbs were too close so they came off as more of stiff deflections. Which was fine.
Crawley chased down Chen relentlessly, this time, swinging the length of his baton down at the top of his head.

Chen steps his left foot in this time to space his feet, raising up his left end to take the strike of the baton for the head, while his right hand lowers, keeping hold of the middle end.

Crawley drew his baton back and swung it down in the same manner as he just did before to strike Chen on the top of his head...

Chen repositions the stick more horizontal to take the second strike. This time, he acts, his right hand simultaneously having the right hanging end swing in an under-arc toward Crawley's groin. The advantage of a hanging end is that it had more power due to using the motion of a swing to attack instead of the grip of a hand. The drawback was lost of control, which was a minor concern in how it was swung.

Crawley pushed his left hand into Chen's right to make the arc of the swing cut sharp and swing back in prematurely, preventing it from hitting his groin. As he pushed his hand in, he gripped Chen's hand over the stick and held tight as if he was crushing his fingers into his own weapon.
Then he drew his baton back and in the same motion, kicked his left leg up to crash into Chen's groin since he decided it was a good idea to space out his feet earlier.
Then, he turned his body to the far left to pull Chen in and hammer the end of the baton into the back of his head and step back, away, twisting the baton with his wrist as he did.

Hitting into Chen's right hand wasn't going to stop the momentum of the swing. It only required a flick of his wrist and a little head start of moving his right hand forward, letting the end swing the rest of the way. So while he thought he was stopping it, the chain lead the end the rest of the way, the weight of the stick bashing into the open groin.
At the same time, his right hand would be moving back just enough to keep it from being grabbed, depending on the groin shot to stun Crawley for further attacks.
If it did, Chen will follow up with the left end thrusting at Crawley's face, aimed for the bridge of the nose.
If it did not and he still raises that boot for a kick, Chen will step back and to the right again, swinging the hanging end at Crawley's left knee.

Crawley Crawley pushed his left hand into Chen's right to make the arc of the swing cut sharp and swing back in prematurelyMomentum was never stopped. The arc became sharper. But okay, obviously if it stayed like this nothing was going to get accomplished. Crawley began to charge in on Chen with all other attacks on both sides missing. The followup left stick being on a case-by-case basis apparently.. this was "safe". Running forward is faster than running backwards so... colliding would be inevitable.
