Dragons

Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Hatchlings spend a relatively long period of time as hatchlings, from 100 to 200 years, before they mature. Adolescence is usually marked by a hatchling's wings growing in, but not all breeds of dragons grow wings. Baby dragons all look very similar, but once they hit adolescence, they change very fast, they mature to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. Their scales don't grow in until right before they mature, and they have almost no strength. Once a hatchling's wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are usually left alone by their mother and begin to hunt and survive on their own.

Unborn dragons are actually ready to hatch early on in their development cycle. However, they choose to remain in the safety of their own egg rather than leave it. If a developed dragon is forced out of its egg prematurely, it will usually run away or hide immediately.

Black Dragons:
Black dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, and are one of the main ways to distinguish a black dragon from an evil dragon, which is a dragon turned evil by magic.
A Black hatchling's eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.
A Black's egg has has a faint green glow around it.

Christmas Dragons:
Christmas dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the 'Spirits of Christmas.'

Dark Green Dragons:
Dark green dragons, once they mature, appear to become an entirely different species. However, this isn't true. Rather, they burrow underground and get nutrients from their vines. These vines are sometimes referred to as Dragon Grass. They are very violent, and will use these vines to capture, kill, and eat anything it sees that moves, as well as nearby plants. Luckily, its range is limited, and it can't use magic. Also, they're easy to spot since they kill all plants around them and thus will be surrounded by a large clearing.
Their hatchlins are often surrounded by tangles of dangerous-looking vines.

Gray Dragons:
Gray dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers, and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.
When a gray hatches, the skies become full of very dark clouds and they learn to use thier new wings very fast. Gray owners have a hard time keeping thier young hatchlings on the ground.

Green Dragons:
Green dragons are also sometimes called "earth" dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down into the ground.
Green hatchlings enjoy gathering pebbles and other small rocks and putting them in a pile.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Gold Dragons:
Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.
Gold hatchlings are very shiny, just like their eggs.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Guardian Dragons:
Guardian dragons have a large shield on the end of their tails. Although it appears to be heavy, it is light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Magi/Orange Dragons:
Magi dragons are, as their names suggest, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is generally everything. They won't kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Mint Dragons:
Mint colored dragons are the most peaceful of all dragons; They eat only plants unless they scavenge meat from an already dead animal. They also have no ways to attack others or defend themselves. They are much smaller than other forms of dragons, since they only double in size when they mature. They cannot use any forms of magic, and cannot fly since they don't have any wings. Their looks have given rise to the common insult of calling dragons "large lizards."
Mint hatchlings and eggs seem to be very shy.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Pink Dragons:
Like purple dragons, Pinks are one of the only breeds of only female dragons. They eat only plants, and meat during mating season when it is brought to them by their mate. Their bright colors make them easy to spot during dragon mating season, which occurs once every 10 to 20 years and can last up to 2 years.

Red Dragons:
Red dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren't evil creatures as depicted in myths, and won't go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.
Red hatchlings occasionally shoot small puffs of smoke from their nose, like they're trying to breathe fire.

User Image User Image
Sick/Neglected Dragons:
This breed of dragons results from an egg or hatchling that has been neglected. They are usually rebellious, not obeying their masters, sometimes even attacking them. However, their neglect as a hatchling leaves them crippled, and they are weak compared to other breeds, causing them to stay with their masters for protection.
Neglected hatchlings look very sick, as though they weren't very well looked after...

Silver Dragons:
Silver dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains, and like all female dragons, eat meat only when a male dragon brings it to them. They possess an almost magical aura that lights up any place they are in, and are looked upon with awe by humans and animals alike. Male silver dragons hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.
Young silvers give off a glow that lights up the cave and they grow frills.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Skywing Dragons:
Skywing dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are one of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.
Unlike other dragons, Skywings hatch with their wings already grown. When they get close to maturing, their back legs become a second set of wings.
Skywing eggs are covered in strange markings.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Stone Dragons:
Stone dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.
A stone hatchling stays inanimate most of the time except the occasional flicker of movement, and when it eats. Their eggs are rough and heavy like the stone they are named after.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Summer Dragons (Seasonal):
Seasonal dragons take on the characteristics of the season they are born in. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of Spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in Autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during Winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Two-Headed Dragons:
Two-headed dragons are a special breed of dragons. They have two necks, two brains, two mouths, but one stomach and one main body. The two heads work usually together, but there are times when they will fight each other, attacking back and forth. They use their sharp teeth and wings to hunt large animals, and rarely eat plants. It is unknown what would happen if a two headed dragon were to mate with a one headed dragon, since it has never occurred. They only mate within their breed. Males tend to be a darker blue than the females. Two-headed hatchlings enjoy playing with each other and when they become close to maturation, they become one solid color.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Water Dragons:
When a water dragon matures, it loses almost all use of its legs as well as its ability to survive on land and enters the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They usually stay in the same lake their entire life, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world. Water dragon hatchlings enjoy swimming in nearby ponds.

User Image User Image User Image User Image
White Dragons:
White dragons are pacifists, and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can't bring back the dead. They only eat plants, and never kill living things.
White hatchling's have bright blue eyes and their eggs are very clean and devoid of scratches.

Other Eggs

Sometimes you'll fing eggs that aren't exactly dragons...

User Image User Image User Image User Image
Paper Dragons:
Paper dragons are not truly living creatures. They are pieces of parchment enchanted by magic. However, they behave almost like dragons. The only place where their behavior differs is breeding. Paper dragons cannot breed, and are very susceptible to fire.

Chickens:
Mmm... tasty.

Dinos/Yoshis:
Dinos, or Yoshis as they're sometimes called come in four different colors. Dinos can eat almost anything, including things with spikes. In order to do so, they must have very tough stomachs. Green Dinos are the only type of Dino that is able to walk on two legs. This frees up their front two legs, which they use to catch and eat fish. Yellow Dinos have very long necks, which they use to reach and eat food located high off the ground.
