The darkness was home to her, she had grown used to the dull half light which enveloped her world. Her cubs were growing strong and powerful in the shadows, able to hunt the small creatures already. She felt proud, pleased, strong to be givent he gift of little lives, lives she could mould to be the greatest children of the darkness, of the blood goddess.
Moving towards the entrance of their den the sleek queen of the mwena stretched her lythe form and yawned showing rows of pale clean teeth. She was meticulous with her cleaning, she was proud of how she looked, despite that streak of salmon which cascaded down her spine, the mark of a life long forgotten.
Slipping out in to the moonlit shadows she smiled and looked up at the full moons shine, it had been a month since she had given birth, a month since the moon was within this possition. A month already, time always flew past her.

Wakening slowly the cub shifted in his sleep, his small paws crossed his eyes shading them from what little light flooded in to the den where he had spent the bulk of his short life. Peering out between his small toes he saw the shadow of his mother in the mouth of the den. Smiling sneakily he looked to his brother and sister, both fast asleep, this was the perfect oppertunity.
Flopping to his paws the young cub slipped upon velveteen paws towards his mother. He pounced her tail and pulled with a sneaky little smirk upon his maw. "Mama!" he squeeked looking up at her with those deep red orbs.

The salmon streaked lioness smirked as she heard her son get to his paws. She stiffled a laugh as he 'attacked her' turning around she puts on a face of pure surprise. "Oh Asanbosam, you scared me." Her eyes danced as she reached for the cub and braught him before her setting him down ont he ground she cleaned the fluff of fur that she knew would one day become his name.
"What are you doing up? You should be sleeping with your siblings." She whispers looking down at the young cub, he clearly had questions obn his mind, she would allow him to be wakeful for the moment, at least until his questions were answered.

Asanbosam looked up at his mother, a proud, little smirk on his maw. He had shocked his mother, yeah, he was awsome. He had decided that from day one. perhaps this cockyness would one day get him in to trouble, but at the moment he was safe and cradled in his parents coccoon like womb, if only he knew that.
"I haves a questyun mum, it's a important one." Jutting out his bottom lip in a sort of half pout, this was of course his most determined look and he wasn't going until his question was answered.

Afritti couldn't help but laugh at her little son, though it was a stiffled laugh, she didn't wish him to think he was funny after all. He had that same stoic personality of his father yet with some streak of something not unlike his grandfather, laughing at him would only upset him, she knew that. She knew that this could not be helped. The memory of her father was fairly single minded. She would not let Asanbosam grow to be him, but she would nto stiffle his ambitions, that would be cruel. It was after all, all the cub had, he was and would always be, just a prince.
"What is is asanbosam?" she smiles laying down slowly so that she could meet his determined gaze. "I will answer your questions if I can."

The young male smiled. He knew his mother was the right person to go to. He had a respect for her, she was strong and ruthless, yet careing, she neverlet them go to far, her temper was short yet as long as an eternity.
"i spoke to Giza, he says, he says father said he will be king one day." He licked his lips his deep bloody red eyes peircing his mothers gaze. "What will I be?" his tongue licked out over his lips, it was perhaps a question beyond his years, but it was there, out in the open now, he needed to know.

The lioness gave a long slow sigh. What a question to wake up to. Her violet eyes looked away to the moon for a long silent moment, looking for the answer to that important question. She knew she must answer truthfully.
"You my son, are a prince, and will always be a prince, you will always be in a possition of power but you will never rule. You have freedom my son, to do as you please. You will find your own way in the world, you will find your own niche as I did once upon a time." She paused looking to her youngest son, waiting for his responce, she was unsure of how he would feel about this answer.

His small ears twitched irritably, and for a long moment he remained silent, hsi mind processing the answer. Asking whether this was an okay answer or not, if this was satisfactory for his needs. His tiny pink tongue lapped out over his lips and after a moment he moved to his mothers chest and licked her cheek, affection, it was something that they only expressed at times like this. Emotion seemed like a weakness.
"I will find my way in the world." He paused for a moment, the little spark of ambition which burned hot and avid in his chest flickered but did not go out. He would find a place, he would find his way in the world, he knew it, something pushed him to find a place he would be powerful.

The lioness gave a nod and wrapped a paw around ehr son in a hug. "Let me tell you a story Asanbosam, it's about a lion, he had nothing in the world, nothing but his ambition and the desire to have everything. This ambition lead him to horrible things. To become a tyrant. Do not allow your ambiton to lead you to that my love. Find your way, but find it without pain." She looked at the young male, she was of course speaking of her father. She did not want to see her youngest son become that, that thing, a creature uncareing for anything but his own ends.
It had taken a long time for her to fall out of her selfishness, her love for Moses and ultimately her cubs had done that for her. "Promise me asanbosam. You must never itentionally hurt anyone to gain power for yourself. That is selifhness and greed and you do no need either my son. I know you will find your way without them."

The little cub looked at his mother with a frown on his face. He wondered whom she spoke of. Wondered whom this lion was, what he had done that was so horrible.
Her plea touched his heart though and he startled for a moment. A promise, a promise to his mother? "yes, i promise." he whispers, there had to be other ways to find his way, he would find them and he would keep his promise to his mother. He hoped.

A slight sigh of releif rolled over her lips. She feared her cubs would follow in the foot steps of her father, especially the males, they looked nothing like him but they held that touch of ambition. It was that which made her keep a close eye on them and made her keep quiet about Nyekundu, her father the tyrant.
"Good boy, now, go and sleep, you'll be tired tomorrow if you don't get a good nights sleep." She smiled and groomed the child for a moment before lifting his butt and pushing him gently back towards his siblings whom still slept on in the thick darkness.

With his mind full of the answers he had been given, the lion cub rose to his paws and padded back towards his siblings. Laying back in his own comfortable spot he looked at the ceiling of the den, drawing picture upon the rough surface with his mind.
He had so many more questions, the first and formost being whom the lion, whom this tyrant was, though it seemed his mother did not wish to discuss further. The story lay heavy in his chest and slowly but surely he allowed his mind to relax and for sleep to engulf his small body.
More questions needed to be asked but they could wait.

Afritti'dogo watched as the cub rejoined his fellows, she waited until his breathing became steady before she rose once again and padded off in to the jungle. Remembering her father had upset her. She feared any of her cubs would become that creature she hated so much. She needed to find Moses and speak to him of her worries.
Flickering her tail she picked up her paws, following the heady scent of her mate in to the darkness.
