In my opinion Tom of Maine is a great brand of natural toiletries. Its also cheaper than Burts Bees :3

The brand makes things from toothpaste, mouth wash, and floss to deodorant, soap and shaving cream! Its all natural and are not animal tested.

Quick facts and availability

* Its available in the US, Canada, and the UK.

* It's sold at Kroger, CVS, Rite Aid/Eckard, Publix, and most wholefood stores!

((They also HAD a nature kit, with travel size goodies - but has since been discontinued crying ))

I used to use it. Tom's of Maine got bought out by Colgate. crying

And their deodorant started giving me rashes...

I did like Tom's of Maine for a while. Their toothpaste was tasty.

And Burts Bees got bought buy Clorox I believe.

I'm not too fond of Tom of Maine, but I do like it in the sense that it's all over the place. Gives people a chance to try something better for them than by buying a chemical rich product.

My husband got the deodorant and I've used it a couple times and it's all right, but I still prefer my Trader Joes ones. I haven't tried any of their other products in like years, but their mouthwash was the first "natural" mouthwash I tried and it was so different and weird, but I think now I'd like it because that's how all natural mouth washes are.

I try not to use natural products when they're owned by the big huge parent corporations. I use Jason products mostly (my husband loves their toothpaste) They're owned by Hain Celestial Group Inc, which just owns other natural health products. Alba, Avalon organics, and others.

I'm not sure if they're owned by anything else.

I do not currently use Tom's, but I have before. Not bad, but not my favorite either. Their deodorants don't really work for me, which is bull because I barely sweat at all! Their soap also dries my skin, but then again, a lot of soaps do. Avalon organics soap made me itch, but Jason is just right! Although Jason has kind of mild scents, and I like strong ones. So I often buy both Jason and Kiss My Face soaps, Beauty Without Cruelty shampoo, and Burt's Bees lip balm. I bought that crystal rock deodorant, which is oook, but I'd like to find something natural that works better.

Heinz owns Hain Celestial. You can see the corporate chain of ownership in the following charts:

It's quite interesting to see how quickly brands got gobbled up by the big corps.

Currently, Colgate-Palmolive is a separate entity from Proctor & Gamble. They're two different corporations.

I just started using their bath soap... I prefer bars of soap and so far, I love their lavendar soap. Is there any reason that it might not be advisable anymore?

I've been wanting to use the Tom's of Maine toothpaste because it doesn't contain SLS. It costs about twice as much as regular toothpaste so I haven't been able to afford it. If there are better brands that don't contain SLS and aren't owned by animal testing companies, I'd prefer those.

I had a bar of their antiperspirant. It worked well for awhile, and I liked the lemongrass scent, but I don't feel it justifies the price.
