[The sun is moving towards the horizon line and night begins to take over. The first stars glitter playfully on the early night sky and the moon plays hide and seek with some passerby clouds that form a thin layer like a misty veil.
During this hour others go home to soon go to sleep while some others have just woke up and get ready to start their days -or rather nights- doing their... everynight routine...
It's a pleasantly cool evening, not very warm but then again, not really cold either. A soft breeze sweeps the first autumn leaves off the trees and the sounds of day are gradually quieting down to give their place to the sounds of the night... ]
Two strangely different coloured eyes openned up to stare at a small blanket of leaves just in front of them. Really, now... honestly... he couldn't have slept for too long... then how did all these leaves end up covering him. Maybe somebody played a prank on him...? Groaning he got on his feet and shook the layer of leaves that covered him. Stiffling a yawn he stretched all four of his legs and leaping away quickly, as if he just realized that he was under the threat of a -nonexistant- enemy, he climbed on the nearest tree. Flapping the small wings on his back to shake off the numbness induced due to sleep he stretched for a second time and sighed, sitting down on the branch he was on.

A faint yawn could be heard from a small cave under the roots of an ancient oak tree. So, the sun was finally down.. the small Spica rubbed her eyes lightly with her paw before stretching and getting out of her resting place. The evening air was delightfully cool, and the stars seemed to be lighting up one by one as the faint glow of the sun disappeared from the horizon. There were crickets chirping around the forest, a sound she had always enjoyed. She'd seen a particularly enjoyable dream that day.. One that made her sure that something great was going to happen. She stretched once more, flapping her wings lightly, and walked deeper into the forest, every now and then trying to catch some of the leaves falling around her. After a little while, her nose caught the scent of another gladier. "Oh? Is someone else awake besides me?" she thought as she followed the scent to where it got stronger. "Hello?" she called out.

The wind blowing in reverse from the place he was sitting didn't help Sterlling become aware of the other gladier comming his way until he heard the small voice calling out. Instictually becoming alert. Jumping from branch to branch to hide himself in the protective embrace of the tree-leaves and branches that would shield him from sight if the approaching creature was hostile. Laying on his belly and keeping completely still to hide better, he narrowed his mismatched eyes to mere slits and looked down. His position, up high, was rather convenient since he was able to scan further than he would if he was still on the ground. The approaching threat was, in fact, no threat at all, as he would come to realize a few moments later, when a dark blue Spica entered within his range of sight.
Feeling awkward for acting so worked up over something so minor such as that, he climbed the branches down making sure he was stepping firmly on each branch not to trip and fall down.
"Oh, hello..." he greeted the other, jumping back on the ground, his paws tapping the soil softly as he did so. "For a moment there I thought you might have been an intruder..." he trailled of taking a small step towards the female's direction, folding his wings on his back.

Lunatéa couldn't help a small giggle escape her lips. "An intruder?" she asked, looking at him, still smiling. "I was just looking for company, the night being so beautiful as it is. Would be a shame to spend it alone, right?"
Her tail swayed from side to side as she looked at the other gladier. She'd never seen one quite like him. The few other Spicae she'd met were all bright colours, and at times she'd feared that she would be the only dark one around.. Besides, the fact that she was nocturnal didn't exactly help her make friends. At times she enjoyed her solitude, and at others it nearly drove her insane. Well, if everything turned out like her dream, at least she'd have company for tonight.. "What's your name?" she finally asked, before her mind would wander off again.

Sterlling was taken aback a little by the other Spica's open and carefree attitude. It really made him wonder about if the female was conciderate at all. He, having grown up alone he was being wary of everyone and everything... "Yeah..." he agreed and shrugged. The night really was beautiful, he was used into living in it after all. Sighing softly he nodded his head, as if in surrender and said. "My name is Sterlling, though nobody has called me by name in the longest while." he said, slowly shaking his tail from the left to the right and back. He hadn't been communicating a lot with others so his skills at giving good first impressions weren't really great or polished for that matter.
Giving another careless shrug he walked closer to the other and blinked, focusing his dark eyes on the pair of bright ones against him. "What name do you go by?" he questioned.

"What a nice name!" The female thought to herself with a smile. "Reminds me of the night sky.." "My name is Lunatéa, or Luna for short. I was named that because I was born on a full moon, or so I remember my mother saying", she replied, still smiling sweetly. The other one didn't seem to be much into conversation, but.. she could always try. She looked at the male again, now that he was closer she could see his colour and markings better. His chest seemed to be glowing.. as if she could see his heart through the fur. Wondering if she was just seeing things, her gaze quickly returned to his eyes. They were of different colour.. All in all, Sterlling looked interesting to her, to say the least. She was especially curious about his glowing chest, but thought it inappropriate to ask. At least for now. "You haven't seen others for a long while?" she dared to ask after a moment. "Me neither.. I guess most of our kind are active during daytime, huh?" She almost told him how lonely it made her feel at times, but in the end didn't say anything. He would probably just think she was weird. They'd only just met, after all.

Sterlling shrugged a little and sat down. "I guess normal gladiers are not normally nocturnal..." he trailled off, avoiding to speak about the wether or not he had seen others so long. Heaving a quiet sigh he stared up at the female, Luna, she was interesting, even though she seemed naive at first sight. For starters she could look straight in his eyes and not fret, most people he met got intimidated by him, hell, even his mother called him a devil... not that he particularly cared anymore. He had become used to this.
And still, now this. A female almost exactly like him, a dark-coloured nocturnal Spica... with eyes glowing brightly, like the surface of the moon -really, he had to admit it, those eyes were the most intimidating feature o hers... "So... I take it you have nothing better to do...?" he asked cocking his head to one side.

"Not really", the female shook her head slightly and sat down as well. She was quiet for a moment, thinking about what to say next. Just sitting there would be boring before long. "I wonder if he likes star-gazing.." she thought, since that was her favourite way of passing the time. Her eyes wandered about, looking at the sky, Sterlling in front of her, the forest around them.. She barely even noticed it herself, she was so lost in her thoughts.. again. All of a sudden she snapped out of it, blinked a few times, and then apologised. "I'm sorry.. my mind just sometimes.. wanders off, so to speak", she said sheepishly.
"I was wondering.. is there something you'd like to do?" she smiled at him again, with all these questions she was trying to figure out Sterlling's personality, little by little. She was slowly getting certain that this was the fateful encounter she had been expecting today. It had been months, at least, since she'd last seen another gladier. And even then, it had only been because she wasn't able to sleep and was therefore forced to stay awake the day. That hadn't gone too well.

Quick to say it was alright that she was scatter-minded -because he too, sometimes, tended to forget reallity and get lost in thoughts, that because sometimes he would get lonely and he really needed someone to talk to then, even if it was in his mind. He sighed. "Something I like to do...?" he had really never thought of that in the past. When he was alone he'd usually chase fireflies, down, close to the river, or search for edible plants, or just lay down. Rolling on his back he sighed again.
"Guess you'll get bored very soon, since you seem energetic but..." he looked upwards. He always felt awe when looking at the night sky, so broad and vast, huge, spreading out in every direction. He felt so small compared to that. Only so small, but this wasn't bad after all...
"They are beautiful, you know, stars are..." he trailled off in a low-tone. "I like looking at them..."

Luna's ears perked at his final words. "Really?" she she asked, clearly delighted. "I love looking at the stars too! Actually, I know a good place that's quite near.. a big rock in the middle of a clearing - the trees won't bother us there!" She smiled sweetly, the glow in her eyes a bit brighter than before. She really wasn't the type to bore easily, even though she might have seemed a bit ADD in his eyes. Rather, she enjoyed laying down, just looking at the stars shine brightly above her. Every night she could see new shapes drawn on the dark sky.
She got up, wagging her tail a bit. "Shall we go?" she asked him. She couldn't keep her excitement in - she was just so happy to have found someone to talk to, someone she had something in common with.

Sterlling made a small sound, clicking his tongue, as if thinking. Aaah, wasn't that delightfully starnge...? To meet a stranger who was like you, all out of the blue... Noticing the how excited Luna looked he smilled and made an effort to keep his own tail from wagging as well, crazy thing, those urges were... he had to keep his mature composure... or...
Sterlling narrowed his eyes a little as a mischievous smirk curved his lips. "Last one there's a cute pink pig...?" he questioned. He remembered playing 'race' like that with his sisters... His ears perked up and he flapped his wings gently, eyes widenning up hopefully as he waited the other's reply. -really, who cares about compusure... it wasn't as if there was anyone else there to see them.
A tremble rushed through his body, as if due to anticipation and his heartbeat rised, making the glow in his chest a brighter, warmer colour. "Sh-shall we...?" he questioned, ready to almost take off without a care for the actual direction of that rock.
It was just... It had been so long ever since he last played something with someone...

Lunatéa nodded her silent reply, grinning as she readied herself for the race. "The clearing's to the north from here, pretty close, like I said. We do need to jump across a small brook on the way though, but that shouldn't be too difficult, right?" she told him, her wings fluttering lightly.
Her heart was pounding with excitement, she was happy that Sterlling seemed more friendly now than at first.
"GO!" she finally shouted as she jumped forward, heading straight toward the deepest part of the forest. She was sure he was just behind her, but didn't want to look behind as she feared it would throw her off balance. She didn't really care whether or not she won, but she still wanted to give her all just for the sheer fun of it.

Listenning to what Lunatéa said he returned to his practical self, trying to memorize everything quickly, to plan on his course ahead, like a tactician. Rushing ahead like an arrow released from a bowstring when Luna called the start. He didn't look at where the female was though he was pretty sure she had a headstart and was ahead of him. Tapping the ground as fast as he could in order to accelerate, picking up speed, he narrowed his oddly coloured eyes, focusing only on what was ahead. He could listen to the sound the water rolling ahead made.
The creek was further than he had anticipated though, so, miscalculating his jump he fell into the water with a loud splashing sound. Surfacing on the other side he shook to make water drop off his fur, for it weighed him down. He coughed a little water up and sighed. Now, that was unfortunate... He flapped his wings to dry them off as well and scowled.

Lunatéa had just landed on the other bank of the brook when she heard a loud splash. Immediately, she turned and dashed to the direction of the sound. Soon, she saw Sterlling climb out of the water with a rather sour look. "Are you okay?" she asked right away, hurrying to his side. "You didn't hurt yourself, did you?" She'd forgotten about the race for now - she was more concerned for her friend.

Sterlling frowned a little further and ran a circle around himself as if chasing his tail. "I'll survive..." he sighed. How could he be so clumsy as to miscalculate something as simple...? Shaking himself to dry he walked up to Luna and smilled a little. "Thanks for caring." he stated and shrugged. It really did mean a lot to him... if only you'd think that he wason his own till today. He wasn't really used into this sort of thing and he felt a little guilty for putting his friend through worry for him.
"I'm sturdy enough to survive a-a lot of... harsher things... so don't worry about me..." he mumbled, dropping his ears backwards.
