He had been plagued by guilt ever since he had last seen Jiona. The dark red leopardess' face was imprinted on his memory, like a mark that would never fade. It probably never would, he knew. Djakovo wasn't especially attentive to the world around him, so what it was all coming to, he had little idea. He only knew that what had happened was not right.

Having one night stands were not right. Truth be told, he supposed that part of it was his fault. There was a duty one had in protecting their family, one that lay in being responsible and raising cubs to keep their species alive. The ancient ways that had been evolved over time, where the strongest won the right to live and the weakest did not.

That was the way life was supposed to be. Life was not supposed to be full of one night stands and flings. The very idea that he had panicked, upped and left, scared him more than the consequences of the fling itself. Indeed, he had been so caught up in the leaving for such a long time that he had never even ventured so far as to consider the consequences.

The spotted lion padded along, frowning lightly, as it seemed he had taken to doing recently. It had been many, many moons since the incident, and his mind was slowly letting go of its fixation on the fling. Perhaps, he mused, one day, he might be almost free of it.

Healing was very rarely a simple and easy process. Rashidi had never really pressured her to eat more or to take better care of herself, but being around the male, who had been so very kind to her so far, had improved her mood and disposition so much that everything around her seemed suddenly brighter. After weeks spent in the company of somebody who had shared many a meal with her and, more than anything else, had made her feel worthwhile again, Rana was finally beginning to pick up the pieces of her life. After Kyp had left her, pregnant and broken hearted, he'd taken a part of her soul with him and the consequences of her depression thereafter had almost killed her.

She was no longer a weary skeleton. Instead, the caramel colored lioness was strong and healthy again. Not quite fully recovered, but drastically changed. Anybody who'd known her before she'd met Rashi wouldn't have recognized her. Not that she'd had many friends who would care enough to wonder about where she'd gotten to. Most of her acquaintances had stayed acquaintances. Which was just as well. She didn't need any reminders of the past. She was done with that now. Her heart and soul had been effectively repaired, and Rana couldn't help but feel like she'd been, in a sense, reborn.

A merry smile danced on her lips as she basked in the heat of the sun, which hung high and brilliant in the sky that afternoon. She rested on her back, with her eyes wide open as she examined the various shapes and sizes of the clouds the hung overhead.

((couldn't resist sticking him with her for this. XD their similar histories were too big of a coincidence~ ))

(( xDD! Ah, I'm so sorry for the late reply. Dx ))

Oh, shut up, He thought to himself. Since he had been on his own, he had taken to having an inner monologue - or occasionally, an inner dialogue - running in his head. It kept the boredom from truly getting to him. It's over and done with, so there's no point in looking back.

Except that there was a reason. Because it was his fault. There was no denying it.

But something like that takes more than one. So what? It took him, too, so that automatically made it his fault and his problem.

Then something caught his eye. A creamy brown shape lying in the grass. His head tilted, and he paused in his step. Was that... another lion? He frowned. Why did he always seem to bump into strangers at the worst times?

Still, it was beneath him to detour. If he did, the lion might not realize, but either was it was something of an insult. So he kept right on going, until he had reached that caramel colored blob in the grass, and paused. A lionesss.
