Special Chapter~
"Everyone sign the petition, come on." Kitten had a line formed in the City Hall building. Every community watcher had shown up to sign. On one side of Kitten stood Kimmy. Kimmy Had her notebook out crossing off every person who signed to make sure everyone in town came... or else. On the other side of Kitten stood Duke. He stared straight forward, though it seemed his mind was somewhere else.
"Duke? stare " Kitten said to him in a mother like tone, making sure he was still with them.
"Yes Kitten Ma'am?" Duke said quickly.
"Mayor Adie, did you make-" Kitten was cut off.
"Make sure she doesn't suspect a thing? Why I made that my top priority." Duke turned his head forward again.
*Adie digging holes in her back yard*
"I know this treasure map can't be fake!! scream Angel!! Ned!! Where are those blasted assistants of mine stare !"
Duke went back to spacing out.
*SLAM*
"I think what you guys are doing is just horrible!" A girl had slapped a book on the table. "This is the community watch rule and regulations!" The girl flipped the the book open to a page that was marked with a long string. "Page 278, Paragraph 2; 'Members of the community must accept the wishes of the Mayor. Unless given permission to intervene by the Chief of Police that the Mayor is ruled unable to make decisions do to death, illness, or mental insanity." The girl then snapped the book shut.
"But we do have the permission of the Chief of Police. If you look here, she was the first to sign." Kitten pointed to the first sign.
Duke looked at the beautiful woman that stood before them.
"I think that you all should be ruled mentally unstable! scream " The girl threw the book on the floor.
"Excuse me Serenity? mad " Kimmy stepped forward. "We are the ones that care enough about this town that we will step forward to protect it. The least you can do is help us help YOU! stare "
Serenity looked straight at Duke like she was waiting for him to yell at her next.
"Uh... um eek Well that is sweatdrop " Duke hadn't barely been listening to anything anyone said. His eyes could only focus on her.
"I told you that you guys weren't mentally stable to run something like this! mad " Serenity turned and walked away, but as she did Kitten smacked Dukes arm.
"HELLO!? You just made us look like idiots! mad " Kitten looked back to everyone who was still in line. "Keep signing! scream " They all scrambled back into line. Duke picked up the book and walked past the line and out the door. Right as he rounded the corner looking for Serenity he ran into someone else.
"Oh Dukie-poo, I was just about to come see you!" Ned hugged him. Duke got really tense. He didn't want Serenity to see him like this.
"What's the matter? You are so tense! Come on, Let's go home and I'll give you one of my special massages wink " Ned grabbed onto Dukes hand and started to lead him home.
"Wait..." Duke pulled his hand away.
"What? What's the matter now? Are you okay?" Ned seemed so over protective today.
"Ned, I saw this beautiful girl today. I think I want to-" Duke was cut off.
"What are you saying Duke?! I'm not good enough now?! You want to go be with this girl!" Ned started getting mad.
"No that's not what I was saying, I meant that she was really beautiful and I wanted to return her book! I was going to ask if you knew where she lived or knew her sweatdrop " Ned's weird behavior started to scare Duke.
"Just throw the book in the garbage and let's go home. I've baked a ton of cookies and I want you to test them biggrin " Ned grabbed onto Dukes hand again but Duke quickly pulled it away. "Why are you acting this way? neutral "
"I just want to return it before I forget Ned." Duke looked away, he was afraid that he had hurt Ned. There was a long pause of silence.
"Fine! Do what you want, but don't bother waking me up when you get home!" Ned walked away angry. Duke stood there a moment wondering if not to go after Ned, but looking down at the book he could only see Serenity's beauty. He knew he had to find her. Instead of taking hours going Door to Door or something like that Duke took out his trusty go-phone and made a couple of calls to his work places. Many of the people had heard of Serenity but none knew of where she lived. Sad and a little broken Duke walked home to Barton 38764 (aka Ned-sans House). Oddly when Duke approached the door was already open and the lights were still on.
"Where have you been?!" Ned said standing in the room wearing a black robe and well... most of his already on attire.
"I was just looking for the girl I told you about earlier. Remember?" Duke hid the book behind him. He didn't want Ned to make fun of the fact he never did find his beauty.
"Oh well I'm sorry if I've intruded on you little fairy tale Prince, Duke! Were you hoping to leave me once things got started with this girl? Need I remind you that we have made a commitment to each other." Ned held up his claw/hand that had the promise ring Duke had given him.
"Ned don't worry I love you." Duke hugged Ned dropped the book on the floor.
"Oh so you never found her. So You'll have to settle with me is that it??" Ned kicked the book and it went flying.
"Why did you do that?!" Duke went after it.
"Oh so now this book means more to you then me!" Ned pushed duke out the door and locked it.

Duke still couldn't stop thinking about Serenity. Even laying there in bed with Ned duke could not stop wishing it was Serenity laying next to him. This day Duke was determined to find her, but he didn't want Ned to know he was going out to look again.
"Where are you going again?" Ned asked with his arms crossed.
"There was a emergency called for the top fellow community watchers. I have to attend you know that." Duke put on his coat. "I'll be back in a couple of hours." He went for the door.
"Wait!" Ned said jumping up. "Where's my good-bye kiss?" Ned walked closer to Duke. Duke looked away for a moment. "Come on silly! blaugh " Ned said poking him. Duke kissed Ned's cheek and ran out the door. Ned watched as Duke ran away. Duke didn't look back. He knew Ned was standing there probably feeling hurt, but Duke was so close to finding Serenity. If there was ever a chance that Serenity could love him he would give up on Ned. Duke ran straight to City Hall. Kimmy stood there on the top steps.
"Your late Duke! neutral You know how Kitten frowns on being late!" Kimmy said walking with Duke to the Community conference room. In the conference room Kitten sat at the top of a long table and at the other end sat Serenity. The girl Duke had been searching for. Kitten glared at Duke.
"Your late, we've already started the meeting." Kitten motioned them to sit.
"Although I don't see the point in staying here. stare " Serenity said.
"We are just offering you a position on my personal staff. biggrin " Kitten said to Serenity.
"I don't understand. I called you guys such mean names and yelled at you. Why would you want me on your personal staff? neutral " Serenity seemed less angry.
"I want to show you everything about this town that makes it beautiful and why Adie makes the town a dull gray. mad " Kitten said.
"Yes, her attitude is not that of a mayor's but more of a small child." Kimmy added.
"Have you ever talked to Mayor Adie? She is actually very smart!" Serenity stood up, "It seems this meeting is over to me." Before she could walk away Kimmy slipped something in front of her.
"This is a note of the salary you'll be earning being a member of my personal staff biggrin " Kitten was acting like Serenity had said yes.
"Like that will change stare any... eek I accept surprised " Serenity sat back down.
"Very well. Report here tomorrow morning for a walk through on your new duties." Kitten and Kimmy got up and walked away. Serenity looked through the documents of pay and benefits until she noticed Duke staring at her.
"Yes? stare " She said coldly.
"Uhh... Nothing sweatdrop " Duke said nervously.
"Oh I see... You think that I have betrayed Mayor Adie by joining forces with you or something?" Serenity coldly stared at Duke. Like she could see right into his soul.
"No no!! That's not it." Duke fumbled around his stuff looking for the book.
"Then what is it? stare " Serenity was getting irritated. Duke sat the book on the table.
"I wanted to return your book!" Duke slid the book over the table.
"I have two more copies stare was that all you wanted to say? I hope you will say yes." Serenity gathered her things and stood up.

"Well I have to go, I have things to do." Serenity stared off towards the door.
"I just wanted you to know that you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen." Duke looked over to see Serenity's reaction. Serenity stood there looking at Duke but not with the same eyes she had been looking at him with before.

"He's late! stare " Ned watched the clock. "This time I wont let this slide! scream " Ned marched out the door to look for Duke.
"You mean it I can see you tomorrow? biggrin " Duke held Serenity's hand.
"Of course! blaugh heart " Serenity grabbed Dukes other hand.

"What in the Hell is going on here scream !?" Ned screamed at them.
"What do you mean? Who the Hell are you stare " Serenity went back to her cold exterior that Duke had met at the meeting.
"Ned I can explain! eek " Duke said letting go of Serenity's hands.
"Explain how you have humiliated me? How you have betrayed me? I feel like such a fool falling in love with you!" Ned said walking slowly towards them.
"Hey no one answered me! scream " Serenity was not going to be ignored.

"He's not. We're just friends." Duke said to Serenity.
"WHAT! scream I'll kill you! How dare you deny our relationship!" Ned grabbed onto Duke and started to violently shake him.
"Hey let go of him! scream " Serenity grabbed onto Ned's arm. Ned back handed her, knocking her to the ground.

"Duke... DUKE!!!" Serenity's voice was all he could hear. Everything else went black as the shaking continued.

"Hold on I'll give him mouth to mouth! scream " Ned leaned over Duke. "Ah! The violent shaking woke him up!" Duke looked around at Kitten, Kimmy, Serenity, Ned and a ton of people he didn't know standing over him.

"My book hit you in the head! I'm so sorry, I meant to throw it on the ground redface ." Serenity was holding Dukes hand. Duke ripped his hand away from her.
"Whats the matter Duke? You couldn't stop talking about her in your sleep 4laugh " Kimmy giggled.
"Something about how beautiful she is. wink " Ned nudged him.
"Come on guys stop redface " Serenity smiled at Duke.
"You also talked about Ned blaugh " Kitten added.
"Something about how handsome he is wink " Ned nudged him again.
"No it was more like cries for help neutral " Kimmy said.
