Ryu’Rage watched day by day as her own children left the den, went out on there own, it seemed like only mere moments ago that she had given birth to her litter of cubs, a litter of fatherless cubs. She sighed, regretted believing the rogue male, but did not regret her children, to have such a familiar warmth in her heart was nice for a change, quite nice. Her sister, Nix, had given birth to her cubs as well. They both had 5, such a wonderful number. Such domains brought into the pridelands too, Guilt, Energy, Thunder, Fireflies and Arrogance.

Arrogance, he was so familiar, it tore at her, but did he remember yet?

“Aunty,” he said firmly, walking out for his spot hidden in the bushes, His dark pelt, now pure black, was obvious against the green. Light cerulean eyes watched her, something strange here, the pull, did she feel it too? Why was it there? He did not understand, no. “What are you doing alone? Why aren’t you with Mother?”

“Just thinking to myself Daemonascus,” she said his name, felt a pang in her own heart, silver eyes softened at him The white stripes that used to adorn his pelt were now absent, but he was still the same, domain regardless did not change, but his eyes, his eyes had remained the same even after death. “Come here, sit with me,” she said patting the ground beside her with her paw.

“Alright,” he felt like he would do fin, he was the best for everyone he knew, f course. Was the best ever, he smirked at the thought, though internally he lashed out at an invisible being that had left his Aunt alone. Hmph, no matter, he was here for her, the pull he felt, perhaps it meant he was the one to keep her safe, keep her company. “Do you have strange dreams Aunty?” he asked somewhat softly, embarrassed at the strange things he did not make sense of.

“Yes, now and then,” though they were more of a nightmare to her. No past lives filtered into her mind for she had never passed on, never ceased to exist only to be reborn again, that sort of thing was beyond her, and she would never know the sweet silence and end of death. “Some are familiar, others are strange, like a haze, vague and far away,” though she was curious, “What do you dream of Daemonascus?”

“I dream of you and mother, you’re there a lot,” he said, eyes trailing off to look at the horizon. “I think I’m older, but everything’s different, my brothers and sisters, they aren’t there,” trying to remember he boggled his mind. “You are there a lot, your smiling, and you seem happy, something small too, and red, but its fuzzy,” he huffed and lay his head on his paws, feathers from the wings at his ankles touching his cheeks.

“I see,” her heart stopped for a moment. So he did remember, not all of it, pieces, but he remembered her ad Nix and- no, that was gone, that would remain gone. A shudder filtered through her spine for a moment, and passed, she smiled down at Daemonascus, so small, he used to tower over her, play with her, stay with her. “Does it make sense to you? Do you think its from a past life?”

“I don’t know, I don’t know how memories would come back, Mother tried to explain it to me, but I don’t know really,” though this pull. He felt complete here, warm, fulfilled, did she feel it too? No, wrong to ask, she was his Aunt, wasn’t she? “How do memories from past lives come back to you Aunty?” he asked hopeful, believeing she could help him understand.

Rage gave a soft laugh and shook her head, black fur falling into her eyes, “I don’t have any from a past life Daemonascus, I’ve never been reborn,” she said with a nod. “Though memories of my past I have long forgotten, come back in waves, pieces sometimes, not all at once, but I have to put them together to try and make sense of what my mind is trying to tell me, reveal to me.”

“Oh,” he looked at the ground, his toes. She had never died? Then..how would he know for sure? He huffed again, nudging himself closer to her side, finding the warmth she gave off to him rather nice, and he didn’t pull away. Closing his eyes he tried to remember, tried to think, “Do you have any memories of me Aunty, before I was reborn?” he looked up at her, blue eyes hoping, Was she really there?

She gulped silently, she had wondered if this day would ever come, if he would ever remember who he was, who he was to her. Rage tried to find the right words, draped a wing over him to keep him close, and she looked out towards the sun, “Yes,” she said softly, pulling him closer, holding him to her side, “I’ve missed you…”

Daemonascus let her pull him close to her side, eyes went wide and a smile spread across his tiny maw. They did know eachother, then his dreams were true, those images, the memories, they were true! Bits and pieces of something once lost could be put together, he tried to think, a flash before his eyes of a sunset, fireflies dancing in the moonlight, his and her together, side by side, though he was the one who had his wing draped across her back, pulling her close. “I-I’ve missed you too,” he said with his eyes closed, a smile on his maw.

He didn’t move, he stayed close to her, letting what bits and pieces flood to his conscious, he wanted to know what was missing…

Why was it so hard to say and understand it all?
