It was dusk and Sydney was finally getting up. He'd spent the night in a paranoid and sick state, laying on his back on top of some old log, staring at the shapes of the trees and the little white pinpricks from needles that were stars. He had always thought stars resembled the little red pinpricks you often got from shooting something up with a needle. Syd was done with those kind of drugs, though. He figured if he'd do that he'd look much younger and healthier after a while, though since he still stuck to oral drugs, he didn't improve much.
He sighed, he'd been here for almost twenty four hours, letting his hand bleed, clutching his violin to himself, and seeing some pretty nasty hallucinations. Occasionally, when he looked to the side, he saw the girl, her pale blonde hair and her big blue eyes against the emotionless pale face, all of it peered down onto him, confusing him.
He'd been seeing her for a while, now. It used to scare him, but now he was fine. In the past, when he wanted to ask her her name but everytime he opened his mouth, she put her finger to her lips, and then his, telling him, in her own way, to shut up. She couldn't have been more than nine or ten, she was pretty adorable, too, in a creepy way. He'd given her a name, and felt resposible for her, sometimes, she was the only company he had, she never talked, he never talked, but sometimes he just watched. It was her fault he was out here, she ran when they heard the wolf howl, Syd didn't want her to get hurt...but hell, he didn't even know who she was or if she was even real.
Looking at her now, he saw that her hand was bleeding too, blood dripping onto the dead rabbit she carried. Syd blinked, before looking back into the sky.
His hand, was much worse than when Kurai had left him. Instead of a few cuts, it looked like someone had been gnawing on the tips. He'd wandered through the woods more, going deeper and deeper, playing his violin sweetly, digging the strings into his cuts. His violin was covered in blood, the strings, the neck, even the bow. But it was dry now and Syd wasn't sure how to get it off. But he'd bandaged those two fingers, and they'd stopped bleeding a while ago, he figured he'd let air get to them. He looked like a mess, and he was afraid to go out with blood all over his face and coat, though it was dried, but what if people thought he'd killed someone? It wasn't good for his reputation, even though he really didn't need one.
So he just layed on the log, closing his eyes and listening to the sounds of the forest, like good music...

Calum walked through the woods, hoping that the pleasant sounds of the night would beat back the violent urges the scent of blood had awoken in him before. He had killed a deer, more like mutilated really, but it did little to assuage the blood lust. Perhaps it was due to the moon. He gazed up at the shining beacon in the sky. It was almost full.

Unbidden, an eerie wolf like howl bubbled up his throat and out of his lips. He whimpered as he listened to his own howl echo, his arms wrapping around his sides to ward away a chill that was not brought on by cold. He trudged on, his nose picking up a familiar scent. His mind began to drift as his feet carried him in the direction of the familiar scent.

Sydney sighed, playing an ambient soundtrack in his mind, and he whimpered, the beats of the forest were so amazing tonight. Everything had it's own rythm, anywhere you went you could pick things out. The city had an interesting one, which was what drew Sydney in the most. He'd sit in his apartment, or on a street corner, recording sounds and then turning them into music. His injured fingers tapped at his violin, and he craved to make music, but he was in too much pain to do so. He wanted his sound recorder, he could use that with either hand, but the pain in his hand shot through his body and made it hard to move.
He jumped slightly when he heard the howl, and his eyes shot open. He looked to the side and saw the girl running off. He looked back up, wondering if he should get up. He tried, pushing himself up, but he couldn't, he was too weak from not eating and bleeding so much. He looked in the direction the girl ran off to, worried, but relieved because she was nowhere to be seen. If there was a wolf, and it was hungry, then so be it. He'd be eaten, for he couldn't run. Perhaps he was better off dead.

The scent of dried blood tainted the scent Calum was following. A growl sounded deep in his throat as his eyes began to darken. The urge to rip into something and feeling warm blood running down his throat rose. But he quickly beat it back, digging his nails into his sides to the point that it hurt. The pain helping him to focus.

Up ahead he saw the outline of someone laying top of something. His movements turned wary as he trudged closer, wondering if it was friend or foe. When he finaly noticed it was Syd, an eyebrow went up in surprise. Where the hell did all that blood come from?

Sydney shiving as he heard something going through the forest, and he closed his eyes, if this was death, he didn't want to see its face. He heard a giggle, and without turning his head, he looked to his left, seeing the girl again, though her face was still blank and emotionless. She wasn't looking at him though, but to the other side of him, to the trees. He closed his eyes again, figuring she was mocking him. He clenched his violin closer to his chest, his heart beating faster and faster as he heard the footsteps coming closer, though, when he didn't feel anything ripping at him, he opened his eyes, slowly.
He blinked, seeing Calum standing there, "...hello..." he murmered, his voice weak.

Calum's eyes roamed over Syd, taking in all the blood covering him, and the violin that Syd held close to his chest. He closed his eyes as the beast began to beat at the back of his head again. His hands twitched, yearning to rip into Syd. But he would not give the beast the satisfaction.
He locked it in the back of his mind with promises to sate it later. When he opened his eyes again, he peered down at Syd again. Hoping there were no signs of his thoughts, or the mental strain that he was under. He shoved his hands into his pockets. "You look like you've been through a meat grinder."

Syd sighed, looking down, as much as he could, embarassed of how he looked. He shifted, a little, begining to get uncomfortable. His hand was not the only thing that had been hurt during the night, Syd had let himself undergo several more pains, and now, the blood loss and pain was more than enough to make him regret letting himself go so far. He sat up, slowly and wincing, cursing a little, and he looked to the left, and the girl was still there, staring at Calum, though, she could only be seen by Sydney. He looked up to Calum, and laughed weakly, "I suppose so...you don't look too good yourself..." He said, his injured hand shaking a little, from nerve damaged. He closed his hand into a fist, staring down at his violin.

"Even so, I am in better shape then you at the moment." Wondering what Syd was staring at, Calum's eyes traveled to where Syd saw the girl, and sees nothing but air. His eyes travel back to Syd. "Are you so sure you should be moving in your condition?"

Syd bit the inside of his lip, slouching on the log, "You probaly are..." He twitched, setting his violin beside him and holding his injured hand, trying to get it to stop shaking. The girl walked from behind Syd, who was facing Calum, and stood behind him, waving at Sydney. He didn't acknowledge her, though, and he rubbed his eyes, "I'm fine..." He mumbled, looking back and seeing her, still. He grew frustrated, but didn't let it show. "I need to be worrying about other things than this...I'm fine."

Other things? What things could be more important than taking care of one's wounds and cleaning off the stench of blood that attracted the worst kind of predators? Calum silently stared at Syd, as if he could find the answer that way. "...Can I help you get where you're going?"

He shivered as the other spoke, though it wasn't very cold out, and Sydney was wearing his pea-coat, but being weak and feeling sick was taking a bad effect on him. A small gust of wind blew and it sent shivers through him. "N-no..." He said, his voice quiet and weak, "I'm fine...I mean...I will be, by the time I figure out where I want to go..." He never looked Calum in the eyes, staring down at his feet or the girl's feet the whole time.

Calum frowned slightly when Syd shivered. It was very obvious that the man was not alright. To him it seemed that Syd wished for him to leave. And if it were under different circumstances he would, he didn't stay when he felt his company was unwanted. But it would not sit well with his conscionce if he did leave. Not with the state Syd is in. "Would you mind some company then?"

Syd grabbed his violin, examining how bad the damage was on it. Blood didn't effect it's playing, he figured, but it looked ugly and it seemed unsanitary. Blinking, he finally looked up to Calum, looking him in the eyes. He quickly looked back down, smiling as he heard what Calum said, "No! I don't mind at all..." Truth was, more than anything, Sydney craved the company of someone else, he hated being alone, but sometimes, was to paranoid to allow himself to be anymore than alone.

Calum allowed himself an internal sigh of relief. Fact was that he'd have followed Syd even if he'd said no. The just made things easier...and wouldn't make him feel like some kind of creepy stalker. He eyed to violin that was covered in dried blood. Part of him said that he should offer to carry it for Syd. But the other part said that it'd be to risky. The beast was quiet for now, but it could easily be reawakened. Realizing that he had been staring for quite a bit, he asked the first thing that came to his mind."Is your violin damaged?"

Syd's ears twitched very slightly, the girl giggled. His eyes shot torwards her, and her face was still expressionless. The rabbit in her hand dangled, swinging side to side, though she was not causing it. He looked down, back at his violin, "I don't know..." He said, "I think it'll play fine...but, I can't play it, I wouldn't know." He looked at his bandaged hand, regretting doing such things to his fingers. With his thumb, he curiously pressed on his index finger, and an audible gasp issued from him as he tried to hold in a cry of pain. His eyes teared up, and his hand shook. He sighed, waiting for the pain to go away and he whiped his eyes, embarassed of being in such a state in front of someone he didn't even know.
