So im not sure where else i would put this.
But i use candles like they're going out of style x3 And the other day, my mom showed me an article in our Atlanta Journal Constitution outlining the pros of organic candles over the normal petroleum based wax candles.
Beeswax, soy, and gel candles ^_^
* soy candles last 50% longer
* They burn slower and cooler
* Are non-toxic, less likely to trigger allergies
* You can clean them up with soap and water in case they gather dust.
* They produce very little soot. Which makes them more animal and child friendly.
Himalayan salt candle
I bloody love these <3
They basically healthy negative ions to cleanse and improve the quality of the air you breathe! And they're made from salt, so dont get it wet or it will melt. And yes, they do taste like salt - - i've tried it!
And if the entire candle is too much, you can also get a candle holder, which basically has the same effect. But you can only use a tea-light candle in them ^_^
Paraffin wax, which is in normal wax candles, is made from petroleum and produces carcinogens and soot when burned. One air quality researcher stated that the soot from a paraffin candle contains many of the same toxins produced by burning diesel fuel. Yum.

I used to be big on candles, but not so much anymore. I've heard about soy candles being a lot better for you than regular ones.
I have instructions somewhere on making beeswax candles, which is wicked easy. It's basically lying a wick along a sheet of warmed beeswax then rolling the wax until you have a tube/candle and trimming the wick to the desired length.
And hmm... candles are beautiful to look at and this is about healthy candles. 3nodding

Candles are like oxygen to me mrgreen Them, and incense. I'm going to die when I move into a dorm for college gonk But anyways..
I use soy-based candles, because of the whole stealing-bees-homes-away-from-them issue that comes with beeswax and with the bee disappearance lately.. I think that burning beeswax does make negative ions too, though; just not as much as the salt candles.
How expensive are those babies? I've heard of Himalayan salt lamps (For about 100-200 bucks a pop @_@) but not salt candles...
And while we're on the subject of candles.. Does anyone know where to buy stiff (Like pre-wax-coated so they stand up) candle wick? I have a bunch of old candle wax that I would love to mold into new candles but I can't find wicks for them gonk

You can find wicks at any craft store that sells candle making supplies. For regular wicks you can suspend the wick from a rod of some sort above the candle. When it is dried you can then cut the wick to the desired length.

Do you have a website with candle-making supplies? The closest craft store that I've found is over 60 miles away gonk And I don't want to drive all that way just looking for a wick, with a very good chance that they don't have it sweatdrop

I use 100% beeswax candles, er candle. I just have the one. Instead of turing on the bathroom light in the morning, I light a candle. It's much nicer then harsh light at 6:30am. They do create negative ions and I'm crazy for the smell. Yum. I also have a rock salt lamp which I got for about $25 on sale. The light in the inside heats it up and creates a nice glow. The beeswax candles that I like the most are: http://www.philoxia.com/origins.htm I'm unable to get them on this side of the country unfortunately. I love beeswax candles as they last a really long time. Just remember to "hug" them regularly (which is pushing the sides down to the wick.)

I ordered some Aloha Bay vegetable palm wax tea lights whee I've had good experiences with palm wax before so I'm excited. It wasn't a bad price, either: $3.95 for 12 tea lights. Now I an use my oil distributor that I found at the flea market heart

They're candle holders so i dont need more. They're different from the lamps, since on the lamps the candle goes inside it - correct? I have the tea light candle holders, but they still do the same process. Here are some prices

Those tealight holders look cool, though ^^
