Dark paws moved carefully, avoiding rocks here and there. Jua didn't like this new place, not one bit. But then, what Firekin would? As she navigated, she noticed the sun going down. She would NOT be wandering these strange lands in the dark! Jumping over a boulder, she found gravity taking over. A yelping roar escaped as the dark lioness tumbled down the side of a small ravine, coming to a stop at the bottom. As dust danced around her, she let out a groan.

Almost like a ghost, Savitri walked back towards home. It had been long enough, she felt, to be away from home. She'd learned a bit, and come back from it with marks upon her body to show for it. Blue eyes glowing in the moonlight, she navigated the rocks and grass a bit more easily than the older lioness. As she hopped over a rock, she found herself staring at a dark form. A smirk lit up the white lioness' face. "So, Finar-si's blessing can't even walk on the grass?"

Sitting up, Jua glared at the white lioness. "And you have room to speak." She paused, tilting her head. "So you found a way to stop being 'cursed' by Finar-si. You look like a rogue." The sour look on her face was evident. Getting up, she shook her coat out. "And where were you, when we were all fighting? When we were driven from home?"

Savitri glared, pacing around Jua. "I was out learning about the world. If you'll believe me, a rabbit pointed me this way." A strange one that was white with blue and green marks... Jumping on a rock, she looked down at the storyteller. "So, which side won? And which side're my parents and sisters on?" She paused, tail curling. "And I left... For my own reasons."

Continuing to glare, Jua started to work her way back up to level ground. "You ran as a coward." Jumping on a rock, she looked down at Savitri. "Nobody WON. The rebels took over our home, and drove us out." She flicked her head towards the east, growling. "First chance he got, that father of yours went WITH them. Your mother, though... Finar-si bless her, she's still on the RIGHT side." Her tail curled. "As of your sisters... One is with THEM, the rest... Here." She paused, staring. "We both have a sibbling on the other side."

Savitri paused, watching Jua. Most of her sisters were here... With their mother... And their father... She looked east. "Sometimes I wonder if Father had the right idea..." She sat down, no longer hostile and taunting. "He had quite the life, and learned to live with rogues he was forced to be amid." Her tail curled in thought. "Jua... Maybe we're all wrong... Maybe... This isn't the right path for the Firekin.." She looked at the dark lioness, tilting her head slightly.

A deep and angry growl rose in her throat. Jumping over to the same perch, she got into Savitri's face. "Those are the words of a traitor." But then, she was curious. Stepping away, she looked back. "Just what do you mean by that, anyway?" She sat down, tail curling. She wasn't about to leave the pride, not while she cared so deeply about her mother. She didn't want to imagine her mother's heartache if she left. Besides, she believed far too strongly in Finar-si to dream of leaving.

She leaned back, away from Jua, eyes narrow. Frowning, she watched the other. "They are the words of truth... The only males in the pride I even notice are my cousins, or your brother." Moving off the rock, the white lioness went up to Jua. "Find me a reason to maintain faith in Finar-si, and I'll stay." She paused, ears folding back as she looked away. After a moment, she looked back. "Other lions out there, they believe in other things. They believe in other gods, or the way things are, or the circle of life... What's the truth?"

Climbing out of the shallow ravine, Jua looked down at Savitri. "Truth is in the eye of the beholder, Savitri." She paused, thinking, then frowned. "I know what your father has done, the things he's admitted to. You're not much different, but you're still your own lion. Don't ask me to do your seeking and find your own truth. I know mine." With a flick of her tail, she turned and headed back towards the dens. She had her mother to take care of, after all.

As she sat there, Savitri watched Jua go. After a moment, she climbed up to where the dark lioness had been. For some reason she didn't know, she thought of a few lyrics a rogue had sang when she'd met him while wandering. "And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad... The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had..." She looked southward, thinking, then east. When she'd felt enough of staring, she followed Jua back towards the pride's remnants of tradition.
