 Corentine found herself walking down a small dirt path. She wasn't sure where she was going, but it didn't matter, she just wanted to be somewhere. It was a warm summer night, but the small breeze kept her cool. She smiled as it tossled her hair and tickled her cheeks. Some fireflies were dancing above her, providing trickles of light in the dark night. She fluttered her wings and joined them for a second before scaring them away. When she came back down to the ground she noticed that her path had split in front of her. For some reason this seemed oddly familiar. Then she remembered the last time she had come here. She hadn't been alone. She sighed as she remembered. It was already hard enough not to think about Noah. He was so interesting to her, she just wanted to know more about him. But she hadn't seen him in a long time. Thinking about him now just made her feel more lonely.
She figured she ought to keep moving. She stared at her two choices, then finally chose the path most lit by the moonlight.

Noah panted as he leaned against a tree on the pathway. He remembered this path very well and the memories that went with it, but the current memory he was processing on this path wasn't so good.
"You." Janus growled in their mind, "I've told you to stop thinking about your little friends, about the life you want and could have. To stop thinking about them and most importantly her. You can't have it. I won't let you have it, ever!"
With that, Noah gasped as Janus took over the body. It had been a long time since Janus had control, or even had a reason to want to take control.
"I warned you brother."
Janus smirked as his ears started to pick up the sound of someone walking down the pathway.

Cori continued to walk down the path, lost in her thoughts. She didn't notice that there was someone else on the path until she was but about ten feet away from them. She suddenly looked up, and what she saw surprised her.
"Noah!" she called. Her heart picked up pace. She had just been thinking about him, and here he was. It was too dark, and she was too far away to notice the slight differences that gave him away for who he really was. Without even thinking she began to run forward.
When she was a few feet from him, a slimmer of moonlight shone on his face and she noticed the dark color to his eyes, and the evil smirk on his face. She stopped dead in her tracks, her heart picking up pace again, this time out of fear. Her mind stopped, and she couldn't tell herself what to do. She just stood there, staring into his eyes.
"Janus.." she gasped.

Janus laughed as he removed his face mask to fully reveal his smirk.
"Well well. If it isn't the little fairy. To think we were just thinking about you, but of course I think you know my thoughts weren't anything good."
Janus took a step forward towards Cori.
"I've been waiting to meet up with you. I need to talk to you about something...Something that has been perstering me lately..."
Janus's smirk turned in to a frown as his face dawned a look of annoyance. A look that could kill anyone if it had the power to.

As much as she wanted to, she could not pull her eyes away from the terror of his face. It pained her to know that the same face of Noah, was the same one that was now tormenting her, and would most likely haunt her dreams as well, she had no doubt. But still Noah's face was different, kinder. She held on to that one shred of hope and held onto it tightly.
She fell back onto the ground as he took a step towards her. There was nothing she could do. Running was useless. Flying was useless. She fought back tears of fear and bit down on her lip. There was nothing else she could do but face him.
"Y..yes?" she asked him. "What...is it that you need to talk to me about?"
She could feel her hands trembling, so she clutched them together, but it only helped a little. It did not stop her trembling completely.

Janus bent down in from of the terrified female as he laced his clawed hands together.
"You see, my brother has had many thoughts about you, and you know, whatever he thinks I can read and hear very well and openly and these thoughts, they annoy all hell out of me!"
With a quick hand he grabbed on to Cori's necklace.
"And, my brother knows very well that unless I agree it isn't going to happen. I don't know what he sees in you or why he thinks about you, but whatever it is that you two are doing it isn't going to stay. I want you to stay away from him for good. FAR awa from him.."

Cori flinched when he grabbed her necklace, and she bit down on her lip, causing it to bleed. The pain didn't bother her, she was much too worried about other things to be concerned about pain right now. The fact that she was frozen in fear was one of them.
The other, was that even though she was terrified, something Janus had said had made her...happy. Was it true that Noah thought about her as much as she had thought about him? She brought her eyes back to meet Janus's gaze, and the terrifying face in front of her confirmed that it must be true. He wouldn't be standing here threatening her if it weren't.
Cori was not willing to give up. Not only that, but she honestly, truthfully, could not move. It was as if her paws were glued together, and frozen in front of her. It even took her a long moment before she could speak.
"No...I...I can't."

For a split second Janus's face held a look ao suprise, but with in another second he held a look a complete and utter rage.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T!?"
He swtiched from holding her necklace to latching on to her thoat.
"Don't you tell me you can't when you very well can and you will! If you really can't then there are other way's to make sure you stay away from him!"
Janus held his armor clawed hand in to a striking position high above Cori's face as the hand around her neck tightened.

Suddenly she was suspended in the air as Janus held her up by her throat. Her paws became unfrozen in an instant as they desperately clutched at his hand, trying, and failing, to free herself.
She tried to speak, but this time it was her voice that was frozen, locked up, shut inside her clamped throat. She wanted so badly to yell, to scream, to tell him she wasn't ready to die. But she couldn't. She couldn't fight back her tears any more. They rushed down her face as her thoughts thrashed inside her head.
'Why? Why now? I need to speak, I need to say something. Why can't I...'
She couldn't breathe. Her eyes flitted shut as she waited for unconsciousness. Unconsciousness or death, whichever came first.

Janus smirks as he clutched his claws, ready to kill her.
"Bye bye now sweety."
He plundged his hand down for the attack, but his hand froze an inch from her face. The hand around her throat started to loosen as his breath hitched and hardened.
"Why? Stay out of this!"
Janus threw Cori on the ground as he fell clutching his head, screaming.
A few moments passes as his breathing settled. Ice blue eyes turned to the calm clear off white and the hardened face smoothed out.
Noah rose from the ground and stared at Cori with a sorrowful and fearful look before turning around and putting his face mask back on.
"....I"m sorry..."

The last words she heard were Janus's good byes. She was sure this was going to be the end. She had never imagined it would be this way.
She hit the ground with a thud, and she felt a sharp pain in her arm. Everything was hazy. She could hear screaming, but she couldn't feel anything coming from her throat. But she figured that must be her screaming. This must be what death was like. She closed her eyes and lied still on the ground, her right arm limp beneath her. Soon it was quite.
Then she heard his voice. He was speaking to her. He was here. But where was here? She lied still, her eyes still shut. She was dreaming. She had to be. Either that, or this was heaven. But she was still in pain, so neither option made sense. Hell maybe?
"It's not supposed to be like this!" she finally gasped. Her eyes were still clenched tightly shut, yet the tears were still flowing like rain.

Noah slowy turned as Cori finally spoke. He didn't quite understand what she was talking about, but that didn't matter right now. Right now he was worried about her tears.
He quickly jogged over to her and knelt down. Noah quietly whispered not wanted to scare her more than she already way.
"Cori are you alright? It's alright. He's gone. it's me now. you're alright."
Noah gently laid a hand on shoulder and shoook her lightly.
"Cori?"

Cori winced. Slowly, she opened her eyes and looked up into Noah's worried face.
She shuddered, and her eyes held fear, but after a moment it passed. The one speaking to her now was gentle. He was here, it had not been a delusion. Everything was ok. Her fear was gone, the pain, the confusion, everything. She started feeling hazy again.
She reached a paw towards him. It was all she cold do. She wanted to move more. She wanted to get up and tell him she was ok, but she still couldn't. She wanted to hug him, but she couldn't. She wanted to run away, but she couldn't. All she could do right now was whisper.
"I'm...I'm fine....Noah..." she slowly shut her eyes again. Her breathing was back to normal, and she was quiet.
But inside her head she was fighting with herself. She knew there was more she needed to do.
'Why am I such a baby?' she thought to herself.

Noah took Cori's paw in his hand as he held his look of worry.
"You don't look so fine right now."
Noah sighed as he closed his eyes. He couldn't look at Cori woth out feeling guilt towards himself. True, it was Janus who hurt her, but Noah couldn't stop him. He felt weak compared to his brother and couldn't help worrying what would happen is this ever happened again.
"It's my fault. He came after you cause of me and I couldn't stop him before he hurt you. I'm so sorry."

Cori was trying to get her thoughts straight. She wasn't dead, she wasn't dreaming. This was really happening. Noah was here, trying to comfort her, and all she was doing was lying here.
'Get a grip!' she told herself.
She forced her eyes open and she took a deep breath and tried to sit up. She managed, but she found that her arm was still in pain. She held it to her side as she finally spoke, more clearly now.
"Why...did he come after me? Noah, please tell me."
