A black blurr raced across the forest floor, going so quickly it was as if the creature dared the oncoming shadows to try and catch him. The sun had just sank below the horizon and the time had finally come for him to set out across the forest again to explore, find food, your typical woodland activities. At last the cursed sun had set. Kage loved nothing more then the sweet smell of the night time air. Most of the humidity and heat was slowly ebbing away from the air and a cool breeze graced the forest. His paws tore at the earth, sending small waves of debri flying every which way.
After what seemed like forever the black beast lost speed, coming to a light trot and then finally stopping at the base of one of the biggest trees in the whole forest. His pink tongue hung from his mouth as he panted roughly from his long spurt of running. He loved to run just like he loved the night which he blended in so well with. Sitting down at the trunk of the tree to catch his breath he curled his scaly tail around his haunches. After he'd gotten his breathing under control he stood up again and examined the tree idly with his piercing green eyes. Circling it a few times he finally stopped again and in the very same spot he'd started at.
Extending the claws on his front paws he reared up on his hind legs and used the tree as a scratching post. He knicked the bark off of the area as he sharpened his claws on it, his tail swaying ever so slightly behind him.

She sat on a patch of grass, near some trees but not so near them that she right against one. Amarante had watched as the sun had finally disappeared, the moon and stars coming out with all the darkness. It had been a lovely sunset, almost as pretty as herself but now that it had finished with all the vibrant colours vanishing it meant that it was time to go home.
Her papa always told her to be home before the sun set due to dangers that could befall on such a pretty as herself, truthfully her papa didn't use those exact words but still how could anyone not look upon her with envy? Afterall she was such a beautiful Shikoku. Papa was right to worry though at times it made her feel like such a child! Amarante adored being spoiled but all that protection was smothering. She was an adult now and seriously how hard could it be to find your way home?
However, it proved to be very difficult when Amarante began her trot back through the forest, leaving that clearing behind her. She could of swore that tree she just past was the same tree she had just past minutes ago, was she heading in circles? No, all the trees just looked the same. Amarante paused, stopping by a tree. Her purple-blue eyes scanned her surroundings, trying to figure where to go from here. The cool nighttime breeze rustled her hair and tail feathers a little, she shivered even though it was hardly cold. It was so different at night, nothing was recognizable.
Amarante began to trot again, this time going faster until she was definately running. She didn't care where she ended up, she just had to get away. The tree's whipped by her, her tail waved behind her. She ran and ran until she could run no more, coming to a slow walk. She gasped for breath, her eyes huge with fear. She jumped when her ears picked up the slight sound of something scraping, like scratching maybe. Her head moved about, trying to pinpoint the exact location of the noise.
