From the smell of the area he had, he figured, most likely wandered into a pride territory. He'd never really done that before, at least not that he'd noticed, and he wasn't quite sure he'd be welcome. He'd heard stories of some of the prides not being so welcoming to strangers on their lands, even less so to strangers that went lions.
Hopefully he'd found the edges of it and it'd be alright. At least he knew he was faster than the lions so if it came down to it and he fan into one that wasn't as nice as his friend he'd be able to get away fast enough.
While he was here though he could take in the sights. The rather wet sights, which his paws weren't all too happy about after he'd stepped in the first puddle.

It was not an uncommon thing for Izulu to be wandering through the lands aimlessly, pacing with his thoughts racing. He was a troubled young adult, that was easy to say, and all the problems that were weighing down upon his shoulders seemed to make him even more grumpy than he was by simple nature. With the rains, the heat of a normal day had been pushed away slightly, and he hadn't felt the need to seek out shade for once.
He sludged through the puddles without much care in the world - being that he had grown up here, it was something he was fairly used to. It was with a slight frown that he found the scent of another on the wind, so far out near the borders, he realized it was likely to be a rogue. He paused, hesitating as he glanced around (he wasn't foolish enough to go barging in on a rogue), he let his eyes find sight of the cheetah. A slight breath of relief passed his maw at him, though he didn't approach at all. He stood stock still, watching, though obviously meaning no threat.

He really hadn't ever come across a place that was as soggy as this. He'd have to wander his way out as soon as he could figure out which way out was again. Hopefully out would be toward whatever ground wasn't soggy.
He turned to look around and slipped slightly, one paw sliding into another puddle. Chirping slightly in alarm he caught himself before he tipped all the way over into the water. That's what he got for having thin legs.
Shaking himself out he looked up and realized that there was someone watching him. A lion for that matter.

Despite his typically grumpy demeanor and the fact that he was suddenly face-to-face with a cheetah that obviously didn't belong in the pride, he couldn't help the small smirk of humor that spread across his maw as he saw the other struggling to stand in the soggy, slicked mud and grass around them. He forgot sometimes how awkward it was for an outsider to be here during the rainy season.
Taking the chance, he decided to pad towards the other male, figuring that if nothing else, he would at least provide some talk and a way to force away the thoughts that were plaguing him at the time. "Are you having trouble?" he called, managing to school his voice so that the grumpiness didn't show. He paused a little ways from him, still hesitant to invade his personal space in case he did turn out to be dangerous - though he was sure, with his inability to simply stand, that he really ran no risk of getting injured by him.

He jumped slightly when he realized that the lion had come closer to him and instantly regretted it as that caused both of his front legs to slid into the mud. "No ... no ...." His ears flattened slightly as he pulled himself back and tried to shake the mud off his legs. "No trouble at all"
Once he'd found a spot of firmer ground he eyed his legs. He was going to need a bath horribly once he found his way out of this.

Izulu hid the amusement that washed over him at the site of the other jumping and then promptly sliding down into the thicker layer of mud that seemed to cover nearly every part of this area. "Are you sure?" he asked calmly, tail twitched behind him as he stood his ground quite sturdily. He intended the other no harm, and he tried to convey as much - after all, just watching him slide around was putting him in a better mood.
"The ground isn't nearly so wet and muddy if you stay near the forest," he said with a small shrug, turning his eyes to the horizon where he could see the looming, dark forest in the distance. There were enough trees there to soak up the rainwater and leave the ground more damp than drenched.

"One woudl have to ..." he paused a moment to shake some mud off his legs. " ... get to the forest for that to be of any help." He was now covered in the stuff and it was going to be a chore finding clean water so that he could get it all off. He was starting to think that mud was made just get in the way of things, what other use did it have?
He opened his mouth to ask the dumb question of how the lion got around in all this mud with his bulk but closed it just as quickly. Obviously if the lion had grown up here he'd know how to get around.

"Very true," he said with a simple nod of his head, his eyes following the mud the cheetah was trying to fling off of his forelimbs. It was an amusing situation, if he did say so himself, and he was well aware that his sour mood was slowly ebbing away. If staying around this cheetah and watching him slip and slide was going to help his mood and push away the thoughts that had been burdening him for so long, then he was damned well going to stay around him a little longer. Who knew, maybe he'd eve be a little bit of help? He hoped Sith never found out, or she'd never let him live it down.
"Well, it helps if you push your feet all the way to the bottom of the muck, so that you can find sturdier ground. If you try to walk on top, you're just going to slip." He moved a bit, showing him what he meant, taking his paw and pushing it down deeply before he shifted the weight onto another appendage. "It means you have to walk slower than normal, but you won't slip." He went a little faster, he supposed, but he had grown up here, after all, and had spent a long time learning how to walk the lands during the rainy season.

"Being slowed down and of my kind has never been advantageous." He grinned as he used one paw to brush some of the dryer mud off himself. "I think i would prefer having nothing to do with the mud rather than mire myself in it more for the sake of sturdy footing."
He spared a moment to glare at one of the offending mud puddles. Horrid things. "Now ..." He sat down on his haunches. "Could i trouble you for information as to where i have stumbled, aside from a swamp?"

"Well, you're just as likely to end up rolling in the mud if you don't find a good way to walk out of it and back to the rogue lands." He smirked to himself, but simply shook his head. He wold prefer to muddy his paws by walking sturdily than to ignore advice and end up with a mouthful of the muck.
"These are the Kusini'Mwezi lands," he said with a soft nod, turning his eyes to look over his home - or what was his home for now. "They're really only muddy during the rainy season, and only parts of it even then," he shrugged his shoulders as he turned his gaze back upon the older cheetah. "You were just unlucky enough to stumble here when it's not quite up to its glory - but we need the rain, as terrible as it makes the land for walking."
His eyes shifted over the cheetah's shoulder, then fell back to him with a gleam of curiosity in his eyes. "I assume that you are a traveler, then, if you aren't a member of the pride?" He didn't think he had been, as he'd never seen him, but his question had affirmed it beyond doubt.

"I will take your advice should i step in anything else. Hopefully i can tell by now which parts are solid and which aren't ... or i'll just have to take careful steps" He'd much prefer staying clean to more of the muck.
"Kusini'Mwezi ...." He scrunched his nose as he thought about that. He couldn't ever remember hearing of them before but then again there was probably a lot he hadn't heard of before.
"That i would be." He nodded, drug away from his thoughts of if he knew the area or not. "No better way to learn about everything out there than to see it for yourself."

He settled himself down onto as solid of a patch of ground as he could find, staring up at the cheetah with that smirk still lingering on his mug. He didn't really see the problem in getting muddy when there was little way to avoid it, and in this part of the season, there was very little way to. He simply shrugged though, letting the cheetah choose for himself, and the conversation faded away.
Even the obvious way the cheetah said the name, showing that he was probably not familiar with the pride, was tossed aside as his words came rushing to greet Izulu. He was speaking to a soft spot in the lion, and he sincerely wanted to learn more. "Have you ever been to the pridelands?" he asked suddenly, head tilting as he considered the cheetah. His aunt had told him once about the land full of golden lions and he found that to be one of the places he wanted to visit most.

"Pridelands ... you mean the one with the big rock?" He thought he vaguely remembered someone calling that area the Pridelands. It was silly to him since every pride's lands were pridelands. Why did one get to call itself that above all the others? Ah, no matter.
"I have passed thought it. I can't say my stay was very long but i wouldn't mind going back." The area had seemed like a nice place to visit.

"Uh, yes, I think so," he said slowly, his brows knitting into a deep 'v' as he tried to remember whether or not his aunt had ever mentioned a big rock. Pride rock? That seemed right, so he simply nodded again in affirmation.
He nodded at the other's words, glancing out at the horizon again, or the most he could see of it past the trees in the distance. "Are there a lot of other interesting prides?" his gaze flickered back to the male cheetah for a moment, watching him inquisitively. He wanted to know all that he could, for it wasn't often that he came across someone that had traveled a lot - or, rather, someone that had traveled a lot and was willing to talk to him about it.

"Oh certainly!" He nodded, tail curling around his front paws. "Most of them i have only heard stories of but i've had the pleasure to wander though a few of them. they're all different and unique, horribly interesting even if some of them aren't all that keen on my kind."
