{ In the Begining... }

Slowly she walked home with the heavy bundle in her arms crunching leaves underfoot along the way. 'What am I going to do with this?!' she wondered to herself in dismay. She had a feeling that the egg was heavier then it should be... She'd check her suspicions out for sure once she got back home to her shoppe. A bright flashlight shone through the shell should shed some useful light on the situation.

{ Were there two...? }

It didn't take Pika long, though she had to fumble around for her keys awkwardly, the egg taking up a lot of her vision and co-ordination. It seemed eons had past when she finally nudged open the oak door with her toe and managed to wriggle herself into the house. Her bedroom was up the stairs directly ahead of her, and puffing a pink strand of hair out of her eyes she then used her elbow to close the door behind her. Kicking off her runners she moved up the stairs and took an immediate right turn down the hall. Opening her bedroom door again with the tip of her toe she went inside and tenderly placed the egg onto her bed. Using some pillows and a ebi-sushi plushie to form a nest, she then went on her search for a flashlight.

It had taken about five minutes to find a flashlight that looked like it would be powerful enough to shine through the egg shell. Once she moved back in Pika noticed how warm it was in her room. Of course having two lizard tanks with heating lights helped with the temperature, though it sometimes annoyed her, she knew the heat would be good for the egg.

Shedding her light jacket, she wore now a black and white trimmed tank top that seemed to suit the weather in her room just fine. Even though she would freeze if she went outside in this same outfit at this current moment, her eyebrows furrowed with the memory of numb fingers and seeing her breath fog with every exhalation. But now, nice and warm she picked up the flashlight she had placed on the desk and moved over to the egg. Running a hand over its slightly dimpled surface she traced the bronze symbol with her fingertip. For a moment she though she could feel a heart beat under her fingers, but it seemed irregular and too fast for it to be healthy. Worried she took the flashlight and pressed it gently against the shell of the egg and flicked the light. Of course it took her moment to figure out that she needed to turn her room lights off before she would be able to see anything. Feeling a bit absent-minded, she got up and managed to turn off her overhead lights and get back to the egg without incident.

Resuming her position she then let the light shine into the egg, she took a sharp intake of breath as the light formed two shadows side by side. The little black shapes were in the fetal position and she smiled as one moved a bit as if kicking out though she could not make legs out in the shadow. It dawned on her that the irregular heart beat she had heard earlier was because she was hearing two at once. With a satisfied nod she then quickly moved the nest onto the ground close to her small heater. Turning the little box on low so that the egg could stay warm, Pika then prepared to get ready for bed.

{ Something is happening... }

The sound was wrenching, it tore Pika from her blissful sleep and back into the world of reality. Groggily she squinted, looking over to her annoyingly buzzing alarm clock. It had been another late night, working on the Wethkin Shop, and school to boot. Dragging her sluggish body out of her warm bed, she glanced down at the Mysteria egg which lay there, quietly absorbing the warmth from her heater.

It had been a couple of days now since she had owned it and yet nothing had happened. Occasionally she would shine her flashlight up to it to watch the little babies wiggle about, they were getting bigger, and she knew that soon, theoretically soon, they should be hatching. There was barely enough room in the egg anymore, and it looked like a constant battle for space when they moved about.

Feeling them move under her fingers she was briefly brought back to images of women stroking their own pregnant bellies feeling the life within them. Though it wasn't quite the same, she felt a connection with the two unborn nonetheless.

As she stretched, she felt every muscle protest and when she looked back at the clock she was startled to see how much time had past while she had sat and interacted with the egg.

Rushing to her bathroom she turned on the shower and pulled the door shut. It was only several minutes later that Pika came rushing out a towel wrapped around her body and careening into her bedroom once again. After a quick change into clothing she brushed and stylized her pink hair applied a light pink shade of lip gloss and grabbed her bag. She half turned to leave before she stopped and gave a little wave and said farewell to the egg and her other pets in the room.

Rocking, the egg seemed to be waving bye as well.
