I noticed a bit about the 'followers of 4/20' and it made me curious... I for one cannot smoke pot. I am allergic and if I do I spin into the worst panic attack. EVER. but I do of course drink and I have been known do occasionally do other things. What do you guys think of drugs? There are representatives of several countries worth of laws, so what works? legalize or prohibit? Fun or dangerous? where do you draw the line, and what do you think is ok?

I admire your staunch beliefs, but what do you think of those raised in a situation so as not to know any different lifestyle?

The thought of something clouding my judgment and thinking scares me, so no drugs or alcohol for me. kthxbai.

I don't smoke anything or do drugs, I drink occasionally, but that's it. I dislike drugs, I've seen many ex-classmates go so wrong with drugs that it's not even funny. I think pot might be okay, I know some cool people who sometimes smoke it and are not complete assholes.
There's not a big drug problem here, it's not even that common for people to take drugs here compared to other countries. The main problem is young kids drinking a lot. They keep raising the price of alcohol, but it doesn't seem to be working. If people want to get wasted on it, they buy it no matter the price.
Which reminds me, I'm going out in 1 hour to meet my friend, whom I haven't seen in 3 months. We're going to sit in a pub first and then maybe go to a nightclub. I was really wasted last Saturday and up until 6.30am because of it, so I'll take it easy tonight.

i don't use drugs to get high.
weird, huh?
i use them experimentally, as i quasi-religious sort of experience, to alter my perceptions of the world for a short time. i recognize their destructive and frightening properties, and distance myself from drugs as much as possible while still experimenting with alternate ways of viewing the world. i only experiment with natural drugs, as synthetics are ******** terrible, scary s**t. i only experiment with some natural drugs, as things like mescaline or opium are just as terrible, destructive, and scary as synthetics. i don't ever plan on deviating from quasi-religious experiments with hallucinogens, and the moment i do them simply to trip, or do something other than a hallucinogen, i will know i have a problem.
as it is, i have tried the herb and once i tried mushrooms. again, i do not do this stuff for fun or at parties (i don't party). these were very introspective experiences, revealing to me an alternate way of thinking and problem solving and looking at the world.
again, i've done mushrooms once, i've smoked weed a handful of times (okay, maybe two handfuls of times). i would consider trying peyote. that's about it (and NOTHING addictive, as a rule). and i definitely won't do these things often. in fact, it's been almost three months since i've smoked the herb, and i haven't eaten any mushrooms since january. and i'd like to keep things that way - that inconstant.
as for whether drugs should be legalized... well perhaps that's a topic for a different thread...

But that doesn't justify them going around feeling proud of being such dopeheads. What he said. It's sad, but too many people have thrown their lives away on drugs... my uncle almost died because of a OD, and my best friend's brother IS dead because of meth. I mean, I drink now and then. Drugs, though, too easily destroy the lives of both the addict and their family/friends. Like my friend's brother; he left behind a wife, and 3 kids that are all under 10 years old. I mean, that's a huge blow that will haunt those kids for the rest of their lives.

Drugs aren't all too great. But the only reason I think people are taking notice in reality is that it is a huge market that can't be taxed by the government. confused

Interesting. You have all sort of proved a point for me, thank you. I have been having heated discussions with someone I know for some time about the prevalence of hardcore drug users in the population of those who listen to the music we do, as though that is some sort of prequalification to addiction) vs that of any other in our prospective age range. (he is under the impression that our music and lifestyle IS all about drugs! idiot. he is a bit religious and listens to pop music and is totally clueless as to what it is I actually listen to) I have asked the same question to any number of people and he contests that a person could lie for the sake the argument. Well folks, you are not here in person, have stayed almost totally anonymous, and have still shown the point I was trying to make. *goes to gloat to stereotyping friend who has bad taste in music*
