Luna groaned to herself, wondering how the heck she caught herself up in this contest mess. Oh right. Her siblings signed her up for it. Well, at least she didn't have to wear a dress or anything. The trainer peeked through the curtains to check up on the audience. The crowd was moderate size, not as big as in Hoenn or Sinnoh contests, but still pretty large.
'Okay, I can do this...I can totally do this...'
The trainer clutched her microphone and jumped out from behind the curtains and onto the front of the stage. "Hello everyone and welcome to the Zatao region's first official contest!" Luna spoke loudly and enthusiastically while waving to the crowd with her free hand. The crowd cheered and Luna grinned. So far, so good. The curtains behind her slowly began to open.
"So, to start things off, let's introduce our judges for today! Our first judge is a very well known known Coordinator from Hoenn (...and my sister...), Marshmellow!" Luna pointed her mike at her sister's podium at the front of the crowd. The podium was made of slick wood with a computer screen imbedded in the center to display the judge's score of an act. The audience turned their attention to the judge.

Marshmellow was slumped over the podium with one hand lifting her chin up. She was quite bored from having to help Luna set up for the contest AND waiting for it to begin. And she wasn't up for flirting with the person next to her. Way too old.
When the coordinator saw her introduction announced, she straightened up a little. A grin spread across her face. The show was underway.
With her chin still supported up by her right hand, she gave the camera a lazy smile and a short wave. The crowd whispered amongst each other as they saw the image reflected on a large screen ontop of the contest stage. So THIS was what a famous coordinator was like.
"I've been around contests for a pretty long time, I look forward to seeing everyone's lame acts...and maybe there might even be some good ones." Marshmellow made a short, snide chuckle. Good acts. Right. This was a low level contest, good acts were almost non-existant at this level.

The trainer smiled at her sister's mannerisms. Marshmellow had not changed much and even though she sounded quite rude, the coordinator was a fair judge...most of the time. Some members of the crowd clapped nervously, not knowing what to do after the introduction. It WAS the first contest they attended in person.
"Our second judge today is from the far off region of Kanto, Professor Oak!" Luna now shifted her mike towards the second podium and waited for the famous professor to introduce himself.

The professor seem slightly distracted by nothing, as if he had forgotten where he was. He had mildly entrained himself while waiting for the curtains to come up by drawing a small charmander in a notepad he carried everywhere.
When the microphone was pointed at him, Professor Oak gave it a blank stare for a moment."Hmm..."
"Everything's Ready Let the contest begin now Or we won't have lunch"

A few devout pokemon poetry fans in the audience stood up, clapping loudly at the haiku. Luna gave a small laugh at the haiku. It was simple, but amusing.
Now she just had to introduce the next judge...then the contestants...then this horrible nightmare her sisters forced her into would be over. She didn't exactly dislike the contest scene, but it was unnerving to see so many people stare at her doing something that was not battling. Just one more judge introduction. ONE more.
"Our third judge is someone many of us are pretty familiar with from the Katarina pokemon center! (...I know I see her all the time...) Nurse Joy!" Luna said as enthusiastically as possible, pointing the mike at the pink haired nurse.

The pink haired nurse blushed as the microphone was pushed her way, a bit nervous about judging her first contest, then gave a happy wave to those in the crowd. And to Luna as well. "Ah, well, thank you! Um, this is my first time as a judge but I have high hopes this contest will be spectacular!"

The trainer smiled. The introductions were finished. "Alright, now that we've met our judges, it's time to get the contest underway!" She said as she started to walk towards the right side of the stage. The crowd went wild with excitement.
Now at the very edge of the stage, Luna announced the first contestant. "First up today is Lenne from Hearthome city! She's been around the battling scene a few times, but this is her first time on stage! Let's see how she'll fair~" Everyone waited in anticipation for Lenne to step into the stage and begin her performance.
---
Backstage, the contest participants were gathered in a large room. They were all nervously awaiting for their number to be called.
"Will contestant number one please report to the stage. Contestant number one, please report to the stage."

Lenne was sitting down in the contestant room, her legs crossed moving up and down in anticipation. She was to be the first one up on the stage, the first one to make a point on the judges. This was both a positive and a negative she thought to herself. "I'll be the first one to make a great impression... but if I don't make that great of an impression... They may just forget me." Lenne's nerves were starting to get her as she sat, waiting to be called.
Just then, the loudspeaker overhead rang out, calling for the first contestant.
"I guess that would be me then" Lenne said out-loud quietly to herself. She stood up, revealing what she was wearing in full. Considering she stood rather tall, Lenne was wearing black ballet flats, a favorite of hers, along with a rather short dress. The dress itself was black, with gold polka-dots lining it. Underneath she wore her usual black leggings.
Lenne began to walk over to the entrance of the stage, nerves wracking her. Cooley, she thought to herself, "I've seen mother do this many many times. It's not that bad, it's not that bad." This seemed to have calmed her down enough to walk out onstage. Lenne stood up straight, clutching Clementine's pokeball in her hand, and moved out onto the middle of the floor.
Following close behind her were three, rather large men, each carrying rocks, or as they were to smaller individuals, boulders. As then Lenne stepped out onto the stage, the men ran back and forth carrying out a total of ten multi-sized boulders for Lenne's entry.
Lenne herself looked out to the judges after the men had left, and then began. Lenne threw her hands into the air similar to a ballerina as she beings a show tossing up the luxury ball she held in her hand. This revealed the Cubone inside, her partner Clementine. As Clementine was released, both her and Lenne curtsied simultaneously, than prepared for their moves.
Clementine herself wasn't much different than she usually looked, though Lenne did seem to make a few changes. She added a bit of what looked like glitter onto the golden specks of Clementine's face making them shine brightly, groomed her fur, and painted Clementine's club to match Lenne's dress of gold and black. Together they seemed to match fairly well.
Lenne began her show by first turning on her headphones as she did before every battle, however this certain song playing had been picked specifically for the contest, and seemed to get Clementine's attention.
"Clementine" Lenne called out. "Use Earthquake."
Clementine took the main part of the stage, and bowed. After standing up from the bow she jumped slightly then stomped into the ground, creating a surge around the stage. The earthquake itself, could only be felt around the stage area, after the control practice Lenne had completed with her. The rocks that had been placed started to shuffle, then rapidly jolted into the air as Clementine lifted her club.
Lenne stood rather still while the performance went on the earthquake seeming to have no affect on her, only moving to follow what Clementine was doing. Clementine needed no actual guidance for her moves, just timing. As Lenne watched the rocks shoot up, she called out once more. "Clementine, let's get this show on the road! Ice Beam!"
Just as the rocks were beginning to fall, it seemed as though Clementine was going to bow again. As she revealed her head however, the beginning of an ice beam could be spotted. Clementine stood straight and shot the ice beam in a circle, encasing all the boulders in ice, and giving her another second of air-time.
"Perfect Clemmy! Brick Break!" Lenne looked upon her beloved companion as she followed through their routine, just as her mother had done before her.
At this command Clementine jumped into the air as high she could becoming eye-level with the boulders, and swung her club into each of the ice-rocks. As she hit them the boulders erupted, causing ice shards and tiny pebbles to fly throughout the stage.
As soon as Clementine hit the last boulder, Lenne called out to her. "Ancient-Power!"
Clementine landed onto the stage with a spin, and then lifted her arms in unison, similar to a conductor and his orchestra. She seemed to be controlling the ice and pebbles. As she circled her arms before her, the debris seemed to follow, creating a sort of pattern above them. Back and forth she swayed the pieces until finally, in a performance ending piece, she clapped her hands between her club. As she did so, the pieces above flew together, colliding with one another in mid-air.
Lenne and Clementine both bowed, and as they did so, a little shower of glittering crystals could be seen falling from the ceiling caused from the collision of the rubble.
The curtains closed before them, and steadily they walked offstage hoping they had left an impression.

Marshmellow looked through the act with minimal interest. "Ehh...the cubone's enterance was...ordinary. Plain. Boring. A lot like your act. Suuuuure, lots of people like sparkles, but it's so overdone." She let her hand supporting her chin fall and straightened up a little.
"On the plus side, your pokemon's control over their earthquake attack was decent...but TRY not to get any chunks of ice rock on me please." She finished, removing a peice of ice from her hair before pressing a button that would cause the screen on the podium to display her score.
The screen implanted on her podium flashed a seven.

Nurse Joy had to admit she had been impressed. Of course she was expecting to be impressed a lot this competition. As for what to score... "I have to agree your pokemon's entry could have been a bit more, flashy perhaps? Or maybe a bit more interesting at the very least." Flashy was the wrong word, but she couldn't figure out what the word was that she wanted.
"The use of ice beam along with the control your Cubone shows with Earthquake was quite spectacular and very entertaining. The use of music and the way your cubone moved was exciting, though that could just be me." Giving a short laugh, she pressed the button before her to flash her score, a nine. Unlike Marshmellow, she didn't seem to mind being covered in the glittery dust.

Professor Oak watched with some interest, impressed by the control of the earthquake attack but lost the interest when they progress beyond it.
"Done very cleverly, but the finish is boring and predictable. The control of the earthquake attack does bare mentioning again. It was a good try."
He pressed the button, the screen on his podium flashed a six.

The large screen that loomed over the contest stage flashed the number twenty-two right beside a picture of Lenne. The crowd erupted, cheering for the first act. Luna, who had been distracted with talking to one of the backstage managers, turned her attention to the stage once more.
"Lenne finishes off with a total score of twenty-two points! And now, it's time for the next contestant to make her appearance. Also making her first appearance on the pokemon scene is Kira Hiromi and her pachirisu, Katie!" She announced as the curtains began to open once again.
--- The speakers backstage made a clicking noise as it turned on once again to call up the next contestant. "Contestant number two, please report to the stage. Contestant number two, please report to the stage."

Kira took a deep breath when her number was called, then smiled and stepped out into the spot light, pulling out Katie’s pokeball, which was decorated with small gold stars in a circle at the top. “Alright, Katie, into the Spotlight!” With that, she threw the ball into the air and prayed that they’d practiced enough. This was, after all, the pachirisu’s first contest.
Katie appeared on the stage from the red beam of the ball, and spun on the tips of her hind paws, then bowed as she finished her entrance. Gold powder had been rubbed into the small yellow lines on her fur to make the lines stand out, and her fur had been brushed until it glistened and shined healthily. She wore little golden star clips in her fur by her ears to pull her ‘bangs’ out of the way. At the base of her tail was a small golden ribbon; it was large enough to be seen, but small enough that it wouldn’t get in her way. Getting up from her bow, the pachirisu took a deep breath and looked at her trainer; she would do her best to make the girl proud.
“Alright Katie, lets start with Light Screen!”
She moved quickly, wanting to captivate her audience, and began using Light Screen, but the move came out in shapes. Above her was a solid screen, but at the four corners were Double-Helix like structures that touched the ground, making legs to the screen. All together, it formed a smaller stage of sorts that was approximately 3 feet tall.
“Beautifully done, Katie, now lets light up the place, Charge Beam!”
Using Charge Beam, Katie sent electricity running up through the four ‘legs’, causing the entire structure to glow. The electric current occasionally crackled a little and sent out bursts of light that drifted slowly to the ground like glowing sparkles. The glitter in Katie’s fur sparkled now, as did the clips in her hair, as the lighting continued to fluctuate.
“Alright, Katie! Now, Double Team!”
Katie finished off her Charge Beam and then used Double Team, causing a second one of her to appear. The copy and the original looked at each other, then both smiled and bowed before bounding up to opposing ‘legs’ of the platform and climbing up to stand at the top, surrounded by the electric glow. They both reached the top at the same time and met in the middle, where one did a small bow and the other a curtsy, before they met together and began to do a small waltz around the glowing platform. After a few spins, one of the Katies was dipped elegantly.
“Good, now hold and use Spark!”
It was impossible to tell which was the real Katie at this point, since they both were glowing with electricity and the Spark attack came from the middle. The attack burst into the air above them and separated into smaller Sparks. The Sparks then exploded as light, the effect looking much like fireworks, and as the glittering particles of electric energy fell and shimmered around them, the two Katies stood up, still holding paws, and bowed, signaling the end of their performance.
They then bounded from the Light Screen platform, which disappeared once they were off of it, and bounded back to Kira. The illusion disappeared, and Katie lept up to her trainer’s shoulder, chittering happily as the curtains closed.
“Good job, Katie. No matter what the judges rate, you have a perfect 30 from me, love.” She whispered softly the pachirisu as they left the stage.

Through out the entire performance Nurse Joy was left in amazement, eyes wide. She hadn't even began to anticipate the pachirisu's next performance and by the end her face was aglow with joy. "Oh my! I must admit that I loved the performance. From the time you started til the time you ended, I was simply in love!
With a rapid nod, the nurse tried hard to gather her thoughts correctly. "The use of light screen to make a smaller stage was well thought out, and to have her dance with her illusion was simply divine! I maybe new, but I know what I like, and that was something definitely worth watching." Smiling widely, she pressed the button to show her score, a wonderful nine point five.

The man dusted off whatever of the pebbles and ice that had fallen on his hair, not that it was noticeable to him until he felt the ice melting. His eyes divert to watch the next act with some more interest then the last.
"Well executed, a nice display, but a bit over the top. I'll admit watching her dance with her double was quiet amusing."He smiled as he pressed the button to display his score. It lit up Eight.
