tIn the past few years there have been many movies released in theaters based on popular as well as unknown comics. As a comic book fan these movies bring me extreme happiness, but at a price. I have alot of friends who (in the past) though my love for comics was sorrta dumb, but all of the sudden its " Whens the new batman come out?!" or "Ironman is so cool!." This makes me mad cause i used to be the only kid who walked with his head tall wearing a hellboy shirt. Now, I see 10 a day. I just want to know if anybody thinks that these major movies are taking away the sacredness of how special comics are. Am i just being to protective, or am i right to be angry at the jerks whos have seen the movies only and say there "the mega fan".

I think it's a good opportunity for new people to join the comic community. Watch it in the movies, if you think it's interesting then wiki the article. If you're still interested, just jump right in.
At least that's what I did. =p

If more of the movies where well maid like Iron Man, batman Begins, Superman Returns, 300, Sin City, The Incredible Hulk, and the First 2 X-men and Spider-man Movies and not badly made like Electra and the First Hulk movie, Then we'd be better off. God I really hope they don't screw up The Avengers, The Justice League, Nick Fury agent of s.h.e.i.l.d., Thor, and Captain America! Especially Thor, Cap and Avengers!

Decaprio as Steven Rogers? God, that's just screwed up enough to work. That would be about as bad as putting Orlando Bloom in the role.
No, for Captain America and Thor to work, there going to need to find a pair of good, unknown, strongly build, blond, blue eyed actors, one standing 6'2, the other 6'6 (I could be wrong, but I think that was Thors height). One with the feel of being an honorable Norse warrior, and at the same time, being a benevolent god, and the other with the feel of being older then his years and the bast of the greatest generation and American Rolled into one Man.

im worried that with all this new attention comics will start getting overrated. like for example high school musical, naruto, and all those other shows i left anime and manga basically for this reason but besides that the movies are really cool they should make a runaways one

Well....to answer your question: I feel the exact same way! I hate how people started jumping into comics...especially the ones who made fun of me for being into comics. My Stance on Comic Movies:They are evil! Just look at the atrocity of X3!

I think they are a good idea its just when they keep making the same superhero movie over again. To tell you the truth i really don't want to see a spider-man 4 and 5

Personally it seems that MArvel panders way too much with their films and is responsible for slowly removing people's interest in comic book movies. Warner Bros./DC thoughtfullyombarded with cra plan their movies so that we are not bombarded with garbage like the Punisher 2 and Wolverine Origins featuring non-costumed Deadpool.
DC would rather put out one Dark Knight than seven X3's.
Look at the DVD releases. DC has new frontier and Gotham Knight and Marvel has garbage like wolverine vs hulk and the wannabe avatar avengers.
Marvel also panders to the movies by changing comic continuity to match movie continuity all the time.
In other words, Marvel would rather make a cheap buck and burn you out of an entire genre than plan and put out something good.
I promise you will never see a Marvel produce a movie with the box office success of Dark Knight. They will continue to pander and preoduce lackluster movies en mass but none of them will be a breakaway hit.
I admit that DC has dropped the ball with Superman but that was because everyone seems to love Christopher Reeve and no one wants to see a new Superman. George Reeves will always be the best Superman in the live action arena.

I think they're okay as long as it has some very good CGI, action, acting, and directing (although really, aren't all action movies suppose to be this?). Although I'm a huge movie buff, I always love sitting down and watching a good superhero adaptation. I personally can't wait for Watchmen from what I've heard about it. biggrin Rorschach better be as kick a** as he is in the novels.

I think it's great that more people are getting into comics. Many of my friends who read them now didn't until the movies started making waves, but I don't begrudge them for it. I used to be all alone in a sea of Green Lantern with no fandom friends to giggle with. Now I have a whole crew who come to me with questions about back issues and old stories. I love it smile

I love how there are more Comic based Movies nowadays but... It's so irritating how people think they KNOW stuff just cause they watched the movie. It ain't even canon... I wanted more comic book fan friends, Marvel and DC in particular, but... I don't want them if it's people who THINK they know stuff about it and claim they're fans confused
