Yeah.
I'm sure you guys get this all the time, but I need a new bass.
I used to have a borrowed fretless, but I really just couldn't get into playing it. I've played on several fretted's that I've liked and I've already gone through the different brands and decided that I liked Ibanez the best, but I still need to decide on a series and type that I'd like. I don't think that I need a beginner's bass, I've been playing guitar and bass for like 3 years and I think I'm about ready to kick it up a notch.
So....suggestions? Oh yeah, and it's gotta be in a reasonable price range. I don't need a really nice one, just one I'd enjoy playing with a good tone.

Your going to have to be more elaborate on what you want, because I mean, Ibanez makes quite a few sweet axes.. and its all going on based on what your looking for.

Just pretty much anything that's a good bass. I don't need a hard rock bass. I just want a normal, everyday, decent bass with nice pickups, 4 strings and a good sound.

Another thing, I'm really sorry to ruin your fun, but you get the exact same site when you search for "great president".
But don't tell anyone.

Okay, pending on your price range (which you still have yet to specify) for Ibanez i'd say:
[For a $300 Limit] - Ibanez SR300DX Soundgear Bass Although it is a bit of a beginner bass, it has active bass boost.. which the difference in sound is apparent... though be for-warned, that many new to using active EQ tend to get their batteries drained (9v Battery that is required for the active bass boost) constantly by leaving the bass plugged in, even when not using.
[For a $400 Limit] - Ibanez SRX300 Has passive pickups, active EQ high-output. Its a rather versatile bass which sounds good with fingerplay, slap, pick or tap.
[For a $500 Limit] - Ibanez SRX500 Bass This is a step up from the Ibanez SRX300 and a personal favorite of mine as far as Ibanez goes. It produces a nice rich sound which makes it great for jazz and rock. This bass also has active EQ, which results in the great sound this bass will produce.
Course, this is all going strickly based on price and versatility. Normally I dont recommend a full list of basses with active EQ, but as I recall, you wanted to "take it up a notch", so what better way to get the best sound out of your bass than to get an axe with some passive pickups already installed. cool Hope this helps at least a bit.
(PS. Yeah.. search engines are weird like that. biggrin )

Freaking awesome man.
This is exaclty what I needed.
And as for the price range, I'm still not totally sure because it's mostly going to be my parents who are fronting the cash and they haven't made it perfectly clear what the range is going to be, and another thing is that I'm buying used, so it's really kind of hard to judge just based on the normal brand new bass prices.
This is going to be awesome. I have a bass POD, but I really haven't had a good chance to use it.

I played a BTB 5-String the other day and loved it. If you're willing to spend $500-$600, that's the bass to get.

Different places are going to have them for different prices based on supply & demand, clearances & sales, etc. but I guarentee you wont find that bass for more than $300 (if you do.. its a rip off) 3nodding
