Fish struggled to remember his squad's assigned firework's route as he ran through middling. Greek quarter and then... Little Italy? Chinatown? Oh, blast it, it didn't matter! He was in better spirits than he had been in in ages, and he could always follow the explosions back to them if he needed to. They were using sparkle fountain fireworks, the sort that hung in the air for several seconds before fading. Other groups were using whistlers and flashers and crackles.
Persy had been wonderfully helpful in figuring out Poseidon's cryptic statements, and wonderfully reassuring without saying anything in particular. He wasn't upset about his new self knowledge, or uncomfortable, or unsure - he just was. That was all there was to it. And that was all that mattered. He understood now.
"Baby Bangkok!" he exclaimed, remembering where he was supposed to go next, and dashed off down a thru-street in search of where the street signs began to be written in Thai.

Writ was caught up in the excitement with the fireworks in the sky. Whoever was pulling this off must've had some kind of black market connection, because people were lighting up sparklers and throwing around firecrackers around the streets like they just raided a fireworks factory. Writ laughed, deafened by the noise around him.
He clicked on a borrowed lighter, igniting a couple of edger kids' sparklers for them before they ran off.
Writ closed his eyes and basked in the noise for one more moment before started running down the street for somewhere else a little quieter. He stuffed his fingers in his ears to keep his ear drums from bursting like the cherry bombs going off.
"Baby Bangkok?" Writ looked up at the sign of a Thaitown building. Sounded like a quiet place. Whatever it was.

Finally, the street signs began to change, the lettering switching from English to Thai. Baby Bangkok was quiet so far tonight, but that would all change as soon as Fish found his group again. The neighborhood would sparkle with falling stars before the hour was up. But where were they? Fish looked up, scanning the lowest tier of the roof line. They were roof running, and he was on the ground level. It would be nearly impossible to find them.
It was dinner time in Baby Bangkok, and most of the sector was indoors, eating, or out on the terraces enjoying the weather. It was quiet and peaceful - almost suspiciously so.
Fish sensed the aura of another player nearby. It was familiar, animalistic... Vlad or Writ, he decided with near certainty. He scanned the area and picked a figure out of the shadows by a street sign across the intersection. Tall, muscled, pointed ears - no tail. Writ, then, he decided, and debated approaching the other young man.
Well, he hadn't heard anything from Anubis about who he ought to be fighting. It seemed like things had been pretty quiet lately. Maybe the Game was still reeling from Abbot's death?
Tonight was about fun, though, and maybe Writ had seen a bunch of hooligans roof running, so Fish hopped off the curb and crossed the street.
"Hiya, Writ," he said.

Geez, give a bunch of mortals fire, and look what they do. Bet there's some fire gods pretty jealous up there now. Coyote chuckled in Writ's mind, though the godling didn't hear any of it. A voice of a god in the unconcious was no match for the ringing in Writ's ears. He was still pretty deaf. That's what you get when you give a kid ears of a dog. Great hearing, not necessarily the best at handling explosions.
"What?!" Writ yelled, he thought he heard someone call his name. He turned around and looked down to see a ecstatic Fish.
Kid must like fireworks as much as I do. Writ thought, waving.
"Hey Fish!" He yelled, trying to distinguish his own voice from all the ringing, "Awesome stuff going on, huh?!"

Fish was used to the noise level, so he could hear Writ just fine, but he figured Writ must be having some trouble. "You bet!" he yelled back. "You'll never guess what I just saw!"
Then the explosions started again. A fountain of blue sparks filled the sky above Baby Bangkok. Fish looked around for the rocket trail, but it was already fast fading.
"Did you see a group of kids about our age roof running? I need to catch up with them!"

"Can't say I have, I mean, they are on the roofs." Writ looked to the top of the Thai building for any signs of people, but nothing.
"Get a better view if we climb up a fire escape or something, come on." He said softer, his deafness fading. He looked down the alleyway to find a rusted fire escape. Writ started towards it, waving a hand to Fish to follow.
"So, whatcha see?"

Fish followed Writ up the fire escape, glad that the sparkles seemed to be turned off for the moment. He was momentarily confused by the question, but then quickly remembered his line of thought.
"Oh, yeah! Y'know Miss Floros? And her brooding assistant, the pale guy with the long dark hair who feels like death whenever you're near him? Huh? Maybe not? Well..."
He pulled himself up onto the first platform and looked around. He didn't see his group.
"We were over in the Greek quarter setting off fireworks from the roof of Seasons before we came here, and we saw them kiss!"

"Wait wait wait, Persy? Miss 'I'm going to turn you into a fur rug' Persy?"
Writ stared at Fish. He smirked, and let out chuckle, and then a full blown laugh. Out of all the people that would find love in the world! He never expected someone as uptight as the florist to do that! Especially after what he heard about her being the Queen of the underworld. Writ was pretty sure being a ruler of death was a definite turn-off.
He caught his breath, " No offense to her, but she never rubbed me as the pleasant type." He walked over to the roof's ledge and sat down.
Writ looked up in the sky, "Being queen of the underworld doesn't help either."
It's not like they weren't already sharing gossip.

"Yeah, my God told me about that," said Fish, feeling loose lipped. Things were peaceful now. This wasn't a fight. This wasn't life and death. "He's her uncle." He didn't recall if he'd ever told Writ who his god was.
"The guy she was kissing, though," continued Fish, "He's got an aura like a god, but he acts like a normal mortal."
He shrugged. Go figure, right? and plopped down on the edge of the roof as wall.
"What have you been doing since..." he trailed off and looked down. "Since the mission? The one with the calabashes?"

"So what's that make you, her cousin?" Writ smirked.
"Well, whoever that guy is, he sounds pretty comfortable here. Don't blame him though." Writ stretched his arms, "This world's just as good as those other places gods have."
"Since that?" Writ's ears peaked when Fish mentioned the mission. He rubbed his chin, "Just surviving I guess. Going through the garbage, sleeping on fire escapes, scam-" He paused, "I mean, charming people out of their money..." He said with a second of sparkle to prove his point.
Writ looked down, "Yeah... Kinda depressing how it went down, huh?" He looked up at Fish, "Least Vlad made it, he grew too. Barely recognized him when I saw him again."
"What about you?"

"Yeah, I saw Vlad," said Fish, leaning forward to watch the street. "He practically fell out of a ceiling and onto Maria and I. We were fighting blacksuits and he helped us out."
He shifted and played with the straps that kept his trident secured to his back. "I take it you saw him, then?" he asked. "Did he seem a bit... off? to you?" The sparkles threw him off for a second. He hated when Writ did that... in a sort of twisted way. Fish swallowed dryly.
"Things sort of went quiet, right? I've been living down in the Scene with... basically a commune of hippies. It's... interesting. They grow some really good pot." Fish had finally caved and tried some, and he sort of understood what the big deal was. "I'm good," he nodded. "I'm good."
He stared off into the distance. More fireworks filled the sky.
"I'm itching for some action."

"He seemed fine to me." Writ shrugged, "Wouldn't be surprised though, being held prisoner by a bunch of suits would probably make me 'off' too."
"Hippies huh? I remember serving a few of them at the cafe- Free love and pot and poetry and guys making out with one another and stuff. Lotta interesting people in the city." He bounced his legs against the ledge.
"I don't mind it being a bit quiet around here. I mean, with all the gods, monsters and government conspiracies- I feel like chilling out for a while, you know?" Writ sighed, if only it were that easy. He still had other problems.
"Ciro's probably still angry though. And knowing that kid, he'll probably want to take it out on me, so I don't think I can chill for too long..."

Fish smirked. "Free love and pot and poetry and guys making out with each other, huh?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow. "Yeah, that's exactly how it is." He laughed, then took a deep breath and sighed through his gills, which sounded truly bizarre. The smirk was still stuck to his face.
"I haven't seen Ciro since that night at Seasons," he shrugged. "I don't know where he's gone off to." He thought for a moment, reflecting on the fact that Ciro was supposed to be his ally - or at least was last time he checked. "I should probably try to find him."

"What, for some action?" Writ asked with a smile.
There was a long, awkward pause between what he said and what he said next.
"Never actually fought Ciro before, but you know, with that whole fire thing, I think he'd be pretty hard." Writ dropped the subject at that though. He wanted to relax, enjoy the fireworks. No need to think that Ciro was going to go after his a**.
Writ wasn't scared. Like a kid procrastinating on a school project, he just needed some more break time.

Fish snorted with laughter and promptly began to choke on air, which was something he had managed to do before. Writ had just put some interesting thoughts in his head, which, while he didn't dislike them, he knew Ciro probably wouldn't cooperate with any of those mental pictures.
"I've never fought him, either," he coughed out, pounding on his chest until his breathing went back to normal. "I hope I'll never have to. I think we're still in an alliance, anyway. Have you seen anyone else since the mission?" he asked. "Crow? Or Len? Or Jubs? Or the freaky purple kid?"
