The sun hung high in the brillant blue sky, and Kanti gave a soft moan as the light started to engulf the shade. It was time to get up, and already Kanti could feel the air clinging to her, hot and sticky, the worst sort of weather to meet so early. Giving a rather large sleep like yawn Kanti started stretched out the muscles in in her legs feeling the stiffness easing its way out of her muscles within every movement shemade. Another slow day wasn't it, clung in her thoughts as she slowly made her way to the water's edge. The summer days seemed long and over bearing compared the cool brisk ease of the winter. Her body longed to greet the cool air that would wrap itself around her thick fur and her mouth water at the thought of sinking its teeth into the frozen apples that would be left in the baskets of the two leggers. But her thoughts were fleeting, thinking about it wouldn't make the day any better than what it would be, knowing this Kanti shook her head lowered her head to take a drink of refreshing water.

She was a mess wasn't she.

She could see the pair of lucent blue eyes that glared from the edge of the lake daring the her in. The small waves from gentle disturbances lapped around her hooves washing away the bits of mud that clung to her hooves; however, the bulk of her was different. Kanti moved her head to see the side of her body, mud raced up her back legs to the underside of her belly and around to the knees on her front legs. Her face was freckled with splotches of the brown paste that was starting to dry and crack and give an appearance of an old crinkly two legger. Even the braids in her mane were starting to come undone; it was going to be hassle to pull the ones that remained out just to be able to wash the clumps of dirt free. In which would mean she would have to return to her two legger and face the village again. It was hassle to keep clean, Kanti thought was a soft sigh escaped her lips, some days she thought it would be easier if she kept going dirty, but some how the thought in practice wouldn’t appease as much as she would hope.
Stepping back she looked for a flat neat rock to start resting the remaining beads on. Tugging on each one she attempted to pull them out gently. She could taste the dirt sticking to her teeth as she sought for a bead that she could either break or tug out. She was sure that if anyone saw her she would appearance would appear to rather disgruntling to them. Giving a small chuckle as she rolled her eyes, honestly she could probably care less.

Lessons were over for the morning, rising early and studying before dawn had its benefits and this stallion could fully understand the logic behind his father's madness. It permitted him to enjoy the day from the moment the sun rose, until the moment it rolled back into its bed behind the mountains. Well, that was what he could do in theory but more often than not Raniero found that all concept rather tedious - wasting away ones day with idle chatter and banter was boring...especially when the soquili were of a lesser standing and only spoke of trivial issues.

He did not care about the weather, nor did he care about how the apples were tasting this morning. More often than not the weather was stifling and the apples were juicey, really did the entire conversation have to be repeated on a daily basis? All his questions were of course rhetorical, their answers were obvious and of course he was aware (through his lessons) that the majority of lesser soquili struggled to communicate without such trivial topics.

...That might explain why they were so plain.

Snorting, the stallion thrust his way through the undergrowth. Breaching a path towards the edge of the forest he kept his golden eyes fixed on the horizon and the flickering light between the tree trunks. That tell tale sign of morning was here and while he had not yet experienced the heat upon his blue coat there was no doubt in his mind that the sun would be unrelenting (as usual).

However, tossing his ebony forelock away from his eyes he reminded himself that he must set an example for all those beneath him. Yes, they complained regularly of the heat but he would endure it and train them to accept it without grumbling. Indeed he was of the opinion that those who could simply accept the heat and adjust to it were of greater merit than those who whined every second of the day!

Nevertheless it wasn't long until he reached the forest's edge and inspected what lay outside. Even from the shade he could detect the rising heat but what caught his attention most was the most filthy soquili he had ever seen. Really, had she slept in a mud pile?
