Pales walked through the park with Armel, heading toward the playsets. Pales didn't need to hold Armel's hand at all. Often Armel opted to hang onto the corner of Pales' long coat which flowed about freely. Pales seemed to be able to tell when the ram-horned boy let go. The changes of clinging-weight often tipped him off.

"What do you want to do first, Armel?" Pales asked glancing down at the boy who strode along beside him. He found that Armel opted to walk with equal strides with Pales. As if the boy thought it degrading to be behind anyone.

"Sit." The boy said simply.

"Alright. It was quite a long walk." The man said with a glance to the sky as if to check for bits of falling clouds or just the time by the way the sun was sitting in its azure background.

It took a lot of urging to get him to come out. Jiro had been going through some pretty.. worrysome moodswings lately and even Sah was at a loss of the cause. But today, he had gotten him out (though it resorted to him luring him out with sushi >>) and they had gone to the park. Jiro hissed at the thought of going to the shop, so they opted out on that one. Sah would have come, but he was busy washing Jiro's kimono. Somehow he had spilled black ink all over it and well.. Akiya's mate was fit to be tired. "It's a nice park, don't you think?"

Looking around with a bored eye, he gave a shrug. "It's better than the store." That place had gotten rather boring for him, since that was the only place outside of home he had ever gone to. So this was a nice change of pace. He wasn't about to admit that though. As he was about to look up at his Shouhin and ask for more sushi, which he knew the man was hiding, his eyes caught sight of another father and son pairing. But the smell that reached him.. the child was like he was. "Shouhin..."

Jiro was yanking on the end of his robes to get his attention so he knelt down to see what was up. When the boy pointed out the other two in the park, he looked thoughtful. "Oh... you know them?" Jiro just shook his head and Akiya nearly smacked himself. Of course not, Jiro didn't have that many friends...

Pales kept walking, Armel by his side. There was a sudden tug as Armel stoppd dead in his track staring at the only other two inhabitants a bit of a way from them. Pales back tracked a bit so as to stand next to him, "What is the matter, little one?"

"Why do they point at us, da?" Armel asked pointing back at them looking up at his father-type person.

Pales squinted a bit, the boy was the only one pointing at them, was that boy also a Tale? He wasn't sure, but he wore his best smile as he reguarded his son again, "Don't know, want to go see what is up?"

Armel merely nodded not smiling in return. Pales patted Armel lightly on the head between the horns. This caused the boy to scrunch his nose a bit and push the hand off of his head, "Stoppit, Da. S'embarrassin." The boy grunted and they started toward the other two.

Getting Jiro to put his pointer finger down and telling him it was rude to do that, though the boy already knew that, he watched the two come over their way. "Seems we were spotted." But it wasn't big a deal.. though a bad way to get attention >>.

"Would appear so..." Jiro was watching how the two interacted, smirking when he saw the boy push his father's hand off his head. For some reason that was just amusing. He himself didn't like so many familiar touches, only accepting it all the time for Sah cause.. well Sah was his 'mother'. To deny him his right would make him cry. And that simply was unheard of. "He's like I am."

"Oh?" As the two drew closer, he noticed the boy's horns and nodded. "So it would seem... but this is a good chance for you.. to learn better people skills." The boy only snorted and tilted his head to study him. When they got close enough, they both bowed in greeting. "Afternoon..." ((We'll make it afternoon is that's okay. >>))

Pales and Armel stopped once they were as close as first meeting personal space dictated and allowed. An unwritten and oftentimes mostly observed rule between strangers. It was good manners not to get nose to nose with someone you barely know.

Pales did his own bow, often following suit as it was good manners. Armel after a moment bowed as well, he was too busy sizing up the other boy to notice Pales' own actions. For Armel it was simple enough knowing that Pales didn't get his a** whooped on a regular basis so the man must be doing something right with his mannerisms.

"Yes, good afternoon." Pales replied in greeting, however, Armel rebeled against that greeting offering one of his own, mostly speeking to the boy. The boy was the only thing that interested him at the moment. Mister I'llpointatyou.

"Good 'Noon, aye?" Armel grunted out.

It was always nice to meet new people. Or so the angel always believed. But with a wayward child as Jiro.. well it made it a bit difficult cause he was way too stubborn for his own good. Sah always let him do it too >> he really needed to do something about it. "Sorry about Jiro pointing at your boy. Normally, he's not so rude... please forgive him. He's an evil imp. My name's Akiya.. he's Jiro, as I've said. You are?" He also believed in being straight forward...

Jiro's brow shifted higher as the boy spoke, for a second not understanding what he said. Aye? What was that? Wait.. oh-kay so he had some kind of accent. Like he did. Interesting. "Konnichiwa..." A faint sound left him a second later as Akiya gave him a nudge. He knew what it meant and he frowned at his parent and dusted a sleeve. "Good afternoon..." There had been no point behind him pointing at the other Tale but as long as it caught his interest, he was more than fine by it. His bi colored eyes looked him up at down curiously. He liked his look.

Pales always liked it to be straight to the point and so the young man seemed unbothered and cheerfully continued to talk, "I am Pales D'Arcy and this one here is Armel." He nodded down to his boy. Who peered up between them at the mention of his name. When he realized it was just an introduction he just gave a grunt and looked back at the boy.

What to say, what to say ... Oh, "Nice t'meet ye." That would go well. He didn't seem to care either way. Armel said it unsmiling, though such things are often better accompanied with a smile. Armel just plain ol' didn't believe in that mess.

Pales peered down at Armel with a small smile and then glanced back at Akiya, "Yes, nice to meet you both. We didn't mind." He said in response to the apology.

Armel didn't look at Pales nor did he say anything outloud, but what he thought was 'Speak for yourself.'

Though Jiro was a stickler for rules of polite conduct... well typically anyway, he didn't smile either. He wasn't that kind of polite. Smiling hurt his cheekbones anway and apparently, Armel thought the same. What to think of him though.. he rather liked his attitude, maybe cause he acted like he did. Not sure exactly what to say to him just yet, he took out a chopstick and spun it thoughtlessly between his fingertips. Should he offer to play a game or something? But he didn't really get games nor did he play them often so he didn't know. He wasn't the bright and bubbly type, after all.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both! Neh, Jiro?"

"Huh? Oh.. sure." What was he supposed to say to that? XP

"I'm glad. This is the first time he's been here so he's a bit.. on edge. So your little one is a Tale, right? How was your first experience with the Study?" He was rather curious about other parents reactions to the study and since there was no rule saying he couldn't speak of it, he decided it couldn't hurt.

Pales nodded a bit, "Armel is a Tale. My first experience ... It was odd...I didn't know what to make of it before or even after. It was sort of like sights and sounds, very overwhelming for me anyways. There were craftsman's tools hanging about this big tome. I guess..It is sort of like a clue about what Armel is to become?" He glanced at the boy who was still intent on studying Jiro with mild curiosity.

"Mmm." He muttered for a moment glancing at his Da before looking at Jiro, "What you like to do?" It seemed a simple enough question to get to know this new being. He watched as the boy spun the chopstick about unbothered, and maybe a little curious as to how he did that.

His eyes were thoughtful as he listened, nodding gently. "Mine was a bit like that.. but there was also insane laughter around me as well. Call me crazy, but I found the eperience to be rather interesting. Makes me curious about how the Study works.. and why it works the way it does. It's not like figuring it out would harm us, right?" He looked down and touched the back of Jiro's bun. "It's possible the Study shows us a little bit of what our little one might become.. but I think it all depends on how we raise them.. partly anyway heh."

"Do? I like to train with swords... or learn how to carve things." He was a bit hesitant about saying what he did cause some of the other kids from where he lived said that though what he did was fun, he should do other things and not be an old man. He didn't consider what he did boring or old nor did he think of himself as an old man. He just didn't think that making issues were fun.. at the moment. "What about you?"

A subtle brightening in Armel's eyes occurred at the mention of carving, "Carving too? Da won' lemme yet." He peered up at Pales, "Swords..Ne'er trained with one but I watched one bein' made once. I want ter do some o' that m'self." The boy tapped his chin thoughtfully, "Mebbeh trainin' w'them too will help me make them when Da lets me." It was as if it all struck a cord with him. His interest was perked, "I like t'read. I'm learnin' anyway. I also like to collect stones. Aye. Stones are lovely. Da said when I am old enough he'll get some gems n'stuff for me to collect and toy with."

Pales glanced down at Armel for a moment and smiled faintly, "He hasn't talked that much before. I mean...He tries to talk to other Tales but for the longest time he seemed to struggle with it." Pales quickly amended there after, "He isn't stupid or anything..It's just that at first it seemed like he felt he had no use for words or something. It was strange."

"Sometimes I like t'climb things too. Got a favorite food?" Yet again a journey into the other boy's personality. Which Armel thus far liked. A boy that liked swords and carving was pretty alright, he felt. He obviously was ignoring Pales and his dribble about his slowness with talking.

When Armel said he couldn't carve yet, he made a face and scoffed. "As long as I'm watched, my parents are fine with what I do." He folded his arms over his chest, not liking the sound of being kept from something interesting. "I live in a place where I get to see people make weapons and such everyday. It's an amazing thing to watch.. especially swords..." Looking thoughtful, like he just remembered something and he yanked harder on Akiya's robes. "You still have it..." It looked like Akiya didn't want to hand it over, but he did anyway, passing a minature blade into the boy's hand. A blade that was unbuckled from an unseen sheath at the angel's back. Like he'd let Jiro walk around with it so openly yet. The blade was made of black oynx mixed with some other metal and its hilt was simple leather thickly wrapped. Something easy for his little fingers. "A friend of mine made this for me. He said when I improve, and get older, he'll make a bigger version for me." He extended it towards him, inviting him to hold it if he wanted to. This was something he never did to someone he just met. "I like to read as well.. though I can't read english or write it that well yet.. it's rather frustrating... stones? Gemstones are rather lovely, yes... I wish I could collect them, but Shouhin says that I'm doing too many hobbies as is.. but it's not fair. I like trying everything."

"Heh to be honest, Jiro usually doesn't talk this much around new people. Well, not so freely. Usually, he puts a lot of pauses in it... I'm glad they both seem to be getting along, neh?" he was rather startled to see him extend his mini blade to Armel. He never, ever did something like that. But he remembered that he didn't like to show the other weapons he always had on his person...

"I like a wide variety of foods, to tell the truth. But my favorite food? I suppose it would be... sushi... all kinds of sushi. And nachos.. but not mixed together, of course." Jiro was strictly an eater of asian foods, but he tried other foods due to his brothers telling him he should try new things and not stay to one thing. "What's yours? Do you have a favorite book?"

Armel glanced at Pales before he accepted the blade and quite carefully too. The boy seemed to hold a great respect for such things. "Fine work." Armel commented as he looked it over for a moment. "I like it very much."

Pales chuckled a slightly, "It is wonderful. Armel hasn't not gotten along with anyone yet. Though I am sure there will be someone. Jiro is only the fourth Tale Armel ever met." Pales smiled and watched the boys for a moment, "I shouldn't be so scared that Armel'll hurt himself. He seems to naturally handle himself well with such things."

Armel didn't grin or beam but inside he felt happy as if his very slow father-figure was figuring things out. Excellent. "Sushi? Never had it." The boy replied to the foods that Jiro liked. He gave the sword one last look over and carefully offered it back, "S'far as food goes. I guess I like ramen. Da makes good ramen. I also like steak. Fav'rite book so far? Em. Kind o' embarrassin' really, but I like the Fairy Tale book Da got for me. Lots o'neat stories 'bout dwarves in it." Armel spoke about this shyly, "Got a fav'rite book?"
PostPosted: Sun Sep 18, 2005 11:11 pm

"Yeah.. I'm honored that it was made for me, to be honest." As he reached to take the blade, Armel could see the healed over scars all over the boy's wrists. He trained hard and often, having worked from the wooden to the real thing. But he wasn't perfect and he messed up often. "Maybe one day, if your Da allows it, you can come with me to the place I got to watch the crafts get made... it happens every other Sunday... if you want. I'm glad you like it..."

"Jiro's met a few. Some more directly than others.. he's not overly social though and he'd rather stay home a lot of the time. I'm sure Armel will find someone he gets along with well. Would be nice if these two became friends. They have similar interests." Akiya was more than amused at the moment at how they interacted, taking back the sword and putting it away again. "I used to be afraid for Jiro.. I didn't want him to use any sharp objects, especially not so early in his life. I made him work up from the bottom before I felt he was good enough for a real blade... but he had a relapse and he's back to the wooden sword right now." Jiro frowned as he stroked his hair for a bit... and then snatched the chopstick out of his hands. "It's hard to believe, but he's the most dangerous with these things.. but I allow him to try what he wants.. I trust him enough and I look after him carefully..."

"Sushi is rather good. And so is ramen, if it has some things added to it. I don't like plain ramen. Have you ever tried shabu-shabu? It's rather interesting.. and kinda fun. Least my brothers seem to think so." He liked meat, but he hunted for his own meat with Khia.. whenever the older Tale was around. A book of fairy tales? He probably hadn't read it yet. "My favorite is a book that talks about the Sun, Moon and Star beings... I don't think it's in English though... but I really like the stories in them... for some reason, it calms me." Was he talking too much? It felt weird to speak so much to him like this, but it was okay.. for some reason.

"Aye, that'd be good. If da makes the time." He glanced at Pales for a moment then looked back at Jiro, "That story sounds very interestin'. If you find me a version written in common, I'd like t'lookit it. Unless y'feel like showin' me a new language." At that the boy actually smiled and gave a small laugh and a shrug, "Sometimes...I can un'erstand these two other strange languages." Armel seemed at a loss at how to explain this to his new found aquaintence.

Pales glanced at Armel and his smile faltered. He knew what the boy spoke of, though the boy also didn't realize that he went into a trance and actually spoke those languages. At least a mix of them together. "Yes it would be great if they became friends." He tried to continue on as if nothing had passed his mind, "I think I should try getting Armel into some of the things that appear to interest him. As long as I can supervise of course." He seemed to mull over the point, "Ever notice strange behaviors?" Pales asked a little more quietly, his face seemed uncharacteristically serious.
