Our story begins in the times of the Pharoahs and gods. Here, Prince Atem is still a child. The events that happen in youth will carry onto the future. For every action has consequence- good or bad.

[[Sorry this took a while @_o]]
All she could remember was standing in the middle of a ruined village- barefoot and dirty. A little girl sat up from a bed and looked around. Her black silky hair was over her emerald green eyes. She pushed the hair out of her eyes and looked around. Where was she? This was a very fancy place. She looked over to see a servant sitting by her side. "Your awake, I'm glad. You're wounds were minimal but you seemed to pass out," the woman said, "your lucky the Pharoah's men were coming to get you today- or you may have starved out there all alone."
Amme looked at her little hands and asked, "Where's my mom and dad?" She did remember that the Pharoah's men were coming to get her today. They saw her unique power to heal and decided to bring her to the palace, to change her status to royalty, and have her part of the Pharoah's preist and preistesses. Her parents gave her to them because they knew she would have a better life and Amme knew that. She just wanted to say good buy to them. She did not remember what happened, she was getting some items to bring with her and now she was here. "I wanted to say good bye to them," she said in disappointment.
Bakura was outside playing with children the same age as him in his small village. He was quite content in the little town, it was right outside of the Pharoah's land. They weren't rich, but there was always food on the table and that's all that mattered. Bakura knew nothing but innocents at this time in his life. The worse thing that could happen was a scrap on his knee or getting lost in the desert. He could never imagine what horrors would come today....

(lol tis ok, were's your pic?)
Amia was a good friend of Bakura's and often played with him. she ran to him from the desert "Bakura!" she shouted happily as she hugged him. she was a local orphan who lost her parents to a disease. "how are you today." she said happily. She was much like Bakura, Innocent and sweet. "wanna come play at the oasis?" she was more familiar with the desert and easily found her way to her special hiding spot and back to the village. she usually brought back Dates to share with everyone.
Atem was standing in the room by the bed and he smiled at amme sympathetically "we can see them tomorrow. I promise." he was a young prince and his father often let him leave the palace as long as he knew where Atem was going. He too did not expect or would probably never know the horror that was about to befall a village.
(i think I'll add in SEth later ^^')

The woman at the bedside bit her lip as she heard Amme speak about seeing her parents. "Sweety...." she said unsure how to tell her what happened.
Amme tried to think harder what happened. It didn't make sense to her. "But, I was in my room. I don't even know how I got here....." she said looking at the young boy- unknowing who he even was. "What if they don't know I'm here? They'll be worried," she continued.
"Sweety," the woman hugged her. She looked at Atem and said. "Prince, please wait outside for a moment, please," she said. She didn't want him to hear it, it was bad enough Amme would have to hear it.
Amme didn't understand why the woman was hugging her.
Bakura looked over to see his friend Amia. Before he knew it she was hugging him. "Hi Amia!" he said. He could hear the other boys giggling at him and such. He glared back at them and that was enough to make them quiet. He didn't care, he got along with Amia so well. "Yea I do! Besides, these guys are lame-os!" he said as pay back for them making fun of him. They just laughed and waved good bye to both of them. Bakura started to walk with her, happy to go to the Oasis with her. "Do you think we'll see jackles there today?" he said strangly excited to see such a dangerous creature. He couldn't help it, he liked to tease and try to scare Amia. He was a little boy after all.
[[Oh yea, gotta go get that ^_^']]

Atem nodded "yes ma'am." he left the room and closed trhe door as he waited outside.
Amia smiled nervously "um maybe. if we do we'll have to be careful." she was more courageous than most girls. as they approached the oasis there were a couple of cubs playing and she smiled. "they're so cute!" she said happily as she approached the Jackal cubs.
The cubs happily approached the two children, they were still puppies but their parents were nowhere in sight.
"I wanna keep one, what do you think?" Amia looked at Bakura happily.

The woman waited until Atem was out of the room. She took Amme's hands and looked at her, "Amme, there was a horrible accident where you used to live. It seems there was an attack on your village- a raid from bandits. The guards found the place in shambles, and you had just passed out. They don't know where your parents were, but........" the woman froze, it was so hard to come out and say it, "but they are not here anymore."
Amme watched the woman as she told the story. Her eyes glossed over....... her village was no more? Why would people attack them? "Did they escape?" she said in a hurt voice, tears running down her face.
"No," the woman said with tears down her face as well, "your parents are dead. I'm so sorry. They aren't comming back."
The tears spilled over. Dead? What was dead? She wasn't sure, but the woman said they weren't coming back. Her eyes dulled down into a saturated green. She wiped her eyes and looked down. She felt very empty and alone. She got out of the bed and walked to the door. She was alone, that's all she thought about. She swung open the door and ran out- quickly past Atem, passed anybody around her. She ran out of the palace, she didn't know where she was going, but she couldn't stay there. She saw a garden maze and ran into it. She had never seen plants like these before, but that didn't matter at the moment. She finally slowed down, staring at the ground. She sat down in the middle of the path.
Bakura chuckled a bit, Amia was hard to scare- that's what made it fun. Anyother girl would have screamed in fright, but not her. He remembered he scared this girl so bad by jumping out at her that he made her cry. He felt bad, but in a way, he didn't. Really, she didn't have to be that afraid of him. That's why he prefered Amia over anyother girl to hang out with. She was brave like him and the other boys. But she was fun and great to be with as well. He saw the cubs and did not see their parents nearby either. He had a big smile on his face as he picked up the other one. "Yea! We could take one each! We can take care of them because they're all alone," he said rather valently. "Then we can teach them how to fight and they can be our Guardians! Nothing could beat them!" he said ruining the moment with his boyish silliness. He chuckled and put the jackle down, "Nuh, maybe not though. They are too cute to scare anybody. What will you name yours, Amia?"

Amia smiled "starlight, because of the star like markings on her coat!" she petted the small animal and smiled as she walked over to the oasis and sat at the edge. she let her tough yet smooth feet enter the cool water as she looked at the clear sky. "Bakura, do you think we'll always be friends?" she looked back at him with a soft smile.
Atem ran after Amme "wait!" he saw her enter the maze and began to wander around until her came across her. "what's wrong?" he asked in a caring voice as he sat down next to her.
At this time the priests and the royal guards were half way to Bakura's and Amia's home village.

Bakura smiled and took his cub. He sat down next to her and pet his own jackel. "Starlight is nice," he admitted. If he was around other kids, he would have teased her a bit- calling the name girly. But there was no reason to do so. "I'm going to name mine shadow," he said. He then looked at her and tilted his head a bit in confusion. "Why would you ask that? You know we'll always be friends silly!" he said happily. Shadow walked away from him as they sat there. Bakura took a rock and threw it in the water to make it skip.
Ammeterasu remained curled up and did not look at him. She remained quiet for a long time, not even sure what she should say. She wasn't worried about what to say, she was worried about her parents. She finally said in a sorrowful cracked voice, "What's 'dead'?" She was so young and innocent she didn't even understand what the word completely meant. She understood that they were 'gone' put how and why and where to? Especially why.

Amia shrugged "I don't know the thought just crossed my mind. and Shadow is a cool name." she got up and climbed the nearby palm tree that had a bunch of ripe dates. she plucked a couple of handfuls and put them in her shirt, using as a pouch. she then climbed down and sat back next to Bakura. she offered him some as she watched the pups play. "I wonder what It's like to travel wherever you want without anyone to stop you.... Like those thieves we hear so much about... to be free and not have to follow any rules, especially that of the Pharaoh. he's always caused our town trouble. i hope it ends soon."
The army had made it to the village and began to slaughter everyone and setting their homes ablaze. screams could be heard throughout the town.
Amia jumped up when she smelt fire and thought she heard people off in the distance. she looked around and saw coulds of smoke coming from their village "oh no!" she shouted as she dropped the food and dashed off towards their village.
Atem sat beside her "dead..... is when... well, you know how sometime you see the burial serimonies in town... well dead is when you are no longer alive.... I'm sorry..." he said softly as he hugged her to comfort her "i know what its like to lose someone... my mother is dead too..."

Bakura watched as she climbed the tree to pick some dates. He knew how much she loved those things- and for a good reason. They were rather tasty. She came back down and offered him some- he gladly took some. A smile perked on his face. "Yea," he said swallowing the food in his mouth, "that's what I want to do one day- travel the world. Just like you said, go around and have nobody tell us what to do." He meant to say 'me' instead of 'us' in the last sentence, but 'us' slipped out. He didn't bother to correct it, he continued on. "And when I find all that buried treasure, I'll bring it back to our town to share with the villagers. Can you imagine what is out there? Things that were already stolen and buried away? I bet there's tones of stuff!" he added happily. Yes, he thought the life of a thief was fun and games. He never thought of stealing from others- he focused more on lost treasures, believing they were out there and bountiful. He frowned a bit when she meantioned the Pharoah. Yes, things were tough because of him. But that didn't matter because he was going to help his village just like he said before. He looked over with Amia, smelling the smoke. His eyes went small as did the beats in his heart. What was going on......? Amia was the first to make a move. He looked up and shouted, "Amia!" Bakura darted up and ran with here, back to there village.
Amme cringed up. Yes, she's seen those burials before. It was the same thing that happened to her grandma-ma, but her mother didn't call her 'dead', she said that she was 'gone'. But everyone was telling her those same two words. She stayed quiet, remaining in her curled up position. She felt the young boy hug her, she leaned into the hug but otherwise stayed the same. She was in this new place with nobody she knew, and the only people who knew and cared for her were gone. She finally lifted her head a bit. Her emerald eyes were a shade dimmer then before. The tears had stopped and her face was very empty- as was her heart.
Mahado was searching for both the Prince and the new healer. Mahado was older than the Prince, he was in his double digits. And though he was only 10, he was very mature for his age. "Prince!" he called out, where could he be anyway? He wandered into the maze and saw both prince Atem and the new healer. "Prince Atem, your father, the Pharoah, is looking for you," he said in a proper tone that was rather calm. "You must be the healer they brought today. Preistess Isis will be training you to hone your skills," he then paused, "Are.... you ok?"
Ammeterasu new this was why she was brought here. She thought that maybe, if she trained, she could heal those in need. So maybe others wouldn't have to live with loved ones who were dead. She stood up and bowed, "Yes." She knew she had to leave. As her and Mahado walked away, she looked back at Atem and said, "My name is Ammeterasu." Before she looked back ahead of her, she mouthed the words, "Thank you."

Amia watched the death around her unfold she then looked towards her home that held everything dear to her. it too was ablaze. tears filled her eyes, the only things that reminded her of her parents was burning.
a soldier on a horse saw Amia. he smirked and galloped towards her and hit her hard with the hilt of his sword, thinking that the blow would kill the child. he was terribly wrong.
Amia didn't know what hit her when she was suddenly struck in the back of her head. she gasped as her eyes went wide. she crumpled to the floor, knocked unconscious with tears still fresh on her dull face. the last word that she said was "...Bakura....."
Atem got up and nodded at Amme. he then hurried off to his father.

Bakura followed a minute or so after Amia since she was so much faster then him. His eyes grew wide and blank. He fell to his knees in shock. "Wha.... whaat has happened?" slide out of his mouth. Bakura's young body shock with horror. Blood, blood was everywhere. And the smoke from the fires filled his lungs up black. His neighbors, his friends, his parents...... they all lied dead before him. His heart stomped in his small chest like thunder reaching the ground. Everything went silent, the wind nor earth made a sound to him. The only thing that could be heard was the trickling of blood. He couldn't turn his head from the masacur(sp?) that was before him. Bodies ripped apart with limbs everywhere, crushed skulls, sand seeped with blood, and chard skin from the fire- all of this etched into his mind, never to be forgotten. Sound came back flowing to his ears when he heard a 'thud' to somebodies head. He turned to see Amia hit in the head by a soldier of the Pharoah. Amia hit the ground, almost as if it was in slow motion. The soldier was gone, everyone was gone execpt for him and Amia. He ran to her screaming, "AMIA!" He fell to her side and shook her. "Amia..... Amia please wake up! Please don't........" he cried, trying to wake her up. This can't be happening, this just couldn't be happening....... Everyone was dead and now Amia was dead too. The Pharoah.... that was the Pharoah's men..... why? Why? He balled his fists as tears flowed out of his eyes. He let out a terrifying scream- almost demotic. His eyes were enraged, his teeth were gritted. And all the while, Amia lied there- to Bakura's knowledge, dead. He stood up, his fists gripped so tightly his palms bled. "I swear......." the words slithered out of his mouth, "I'll kill him..... I kill the Phaorah for what he did to my people, to me, and to you....." Little did he know, Amia was out cold.
Ammeterasu followed Mahado to where she had to go. She kept her head down, her eyes dimmed. She looked over to see other children pointing at her and whispering. She felt like an outcast. "Who was the boy that was with me?" she said in a mousey voice.
"That was Prince Atem, the future Pharoah. You will not be seeing a lot of him since he has to do his own training and you to your own," Mahado said professionally. He did not mean to act so cold. He did not know what she had just witnessed. "What's your name?" he asked.
"Ammeterasu," she said in an innocent and yet sorrowful tone, "What's yours?"
Mahado stopped and looked at her for an instant. Her voice gave him a small feeling of warmth yet filled his mind with worry. He shook these feelings away and replied, "Mahado." He turned away quickly and continued quickly. He was confused on why he felt so sudden. "The woman that was at your bed side, she will be the one to take care of you for now on," he said. They walked up to a door and stopped. "Wait here," he said as he entered.
Amme did what she was told and stood there. She saw other children staring at her. She looked at the ground and tried to imagine they weren't there. She had a feeling she would not get along with other children as easily as she did with Atem. Prince Atem that was. She was a bit sad she wouldn't see him as much- after all, he followed her to ask her what was wrong. All the feelings of crying went away, bottled up inside of her.

(lol lets FF it to when they're older. that way Bakura still thinks she's dead. poor Amia and Bakura lol)
~many years later~
Amia was now at the age of 17, compared to Bakura she was still 1 year younger. Like Bakura she had gained a notorious reputation. she was just as wanted as him. Her hair had lightened as she grew older and her eyes had grown paler and empty. her expression was hardened from the images burned into her memory.
She was in a village of thieves. she walked her horse with her over to a fountain. she wore a cloak that covered her body and hid her face. her eyes locked with familiar lavender eyes. she squinted her eyes to try and get a better look at his face but couldn't. "no it can't be.... he died with them....." thats what she had believed when she had awakened alone in the middle of her village. Bakura was no where around so she believed him to be dead.
Her jackal came up to her and sat by her side. it panted and rubbed its head against her hand.
Amia smiled and petted her friend "hey starlight...." she said quietly. she knew someone had been chasing her for a while. and she had been running, with no home of her own there was no place quite safe for her. she just hoped whomever it was, she had finally lost him. her name was right up there by Bakra's on a nearby wall with her picture it said : WANTED for stealing countless jewels and items from tombs of the resting Kings and for countless murders of high palace guards and Priests. she is known to travel with a silver horse and a Jackal........ the name was illustrated as the "Desert Dragon" for the strange dragon like marking she had just below the back of her head. where she was struck with th hilt of the sword. it turned into a strange scar like a dragon. she crumpled up the paper and tossed it on the ground and said some colorful words under her breath.
Atem was now the Pharaoh and was very busy. but he had become very close to Ammeterasu over the years. he would spend his free time watching her working and talking to her when she wasn't busy.
Now was no different. he was done with his work for the morning and was watching her heal a soldier. he smiled softly "you have gotten very good with your healing Amme." he said sweetly as he sat beside her.
