Astoria && Caravel
----------------
Long tendrils of mane flew in the wind as a Soquili grazed in the field. The night was promising and the sky was beautiful as the sun began to set, everything was visible except the desert, past the mountains. Fireflys were becomming unperched and flew around, they were ready for the Summer. It brought the promise of a breeding season to them. The wind was perfect, just a light breeze rippling over everything and providing cool air.
Meanwhile a stud grazed, his lips lightly scathing the ground in search of some more grass, not that it was hard to find. Life was good for caravel. The elegant stallion shook his banner as a way to show fireflys he was not their resting place. His ears perked casually. Maybe if he was lucky he could come across another stallion, or maybe a nice mare. His hooves pawed at the ground as a way to see if there was any minerals there.

It was a beautiful night by many standards, including her own. The sun was low enough that the only traces of it that remained were streaks of fire low on the horizon, leaving the sky itself filled with bright stars and the glow of distant planets.
Amongst it all, above the great plains, she flew. Her wings spread wide to carry her as a draft lifted her higher. Her body blended almost perfectly with her background, save for wings painted the color of shooting stars.

By a stroke of chance, Caravel looked up above him. He had been admiring the sky, but he could see somehing else. Another Soquili, it looked to be, but it had to be an Alicorn. His chocolate eyes warmed and also sparkled with interest. He had never met an Alicorn, but he knew it would be interesting. Scenting the air, he could tell it was not male. Stallions alway scented... musky, or like dirt from playing and romping, unless they were clean freaks. She blended in perfectly with the sky, it was a sight to behold.
Whinning he reared up on two legs and came back down with a thud, deciding to follow her. "Hello," he called randomly. After all, he was just a nut of a stallion, what else would he say. "Your wings are magnificent," he almost said it in a question form.

She couldn't help but chuckle as she heard a voice from below, the sound soft and distant from above. She circled once before coming in for a landing, running along the ground until she could slow herself enough to stop. She was not an alicorn, the star on her forehead nothing more than a marking. A wind mare, she was; a daughter of the sky itself.
"Good evening."

Caravel's eyes brightened as he looked at the mare before him. "Good evening to you, too." He bowed his head and lowered his body to bow. He had never met a wind mare, or a wind for that matter. "I am Caravel. By what do I call you, miss?

"Astoria." She smiled, spreading her wings in an odd sort of curtsy as she bowed her head politely in return. "Astoria, as guided by the stars she seeks." She nodded slowly. "Well met, Caravel."
