(I don't think showable is a word.oh well xp )

I've heard different things.Some people say that petticoats should never be shown,and some people show them on purpose.So what do you think?Accesory or underskirt?(That sounds uber-cheezy,but I can't think of anything else to say sweatdrop )

An accidental peek is okay, but showing a petticoat on purpose seems kind of tacky to me. Like wearing a thong so it shows at the waistband of your jeans, but not quite so slutty. o_o;

I agree, but there are some styles that do show thier petticoat sometimes, like Punk Loli. I've seen it many a time in them, and I think it's cute. whee

Don't show your petticoat on purpose. Bloomers, on the other hand, are a different matter. They can be shown on purpose or can be completely hidden.

Why are bloomers different? o_O

Not trying to sound like a smart-a**, I'm really just curious... sweatdrop

Both are "undergarments", right?

I don't really think it matters either way. If you want to show your petticoat, go ahead. Nobody is going to kill you over it.

Though I have to admit, there are some lolis out there that will go completely hay-wire it they see something they consider "improper" of a lolita.

But it's your clothes, do whatever you want.

Petticoats absolutely does not look right when they stick out. It's like having a nice black formal dress on and having the cheap white slip sticking out from the bottom of the dress.

The main purpose of bloomers are used to keep yourself from getting "panty shots" if air every by chance blows your skirt in that way. And unlike petticoats, bloomers are decorated with lace and are usually (or should be, for comfort) some kind of cotton material. They're kind of like what socks would be for shoes, except with a dress. Comfort and protection, with the optional appeal. And sometimes the 'end' of the bloomers look a good to some lolis if it sticks out (sometimes that might happen inevitably, if the skirt length of the dress/skirt is an inch or two short of the usually knee-length), but just like the skirt v.s. the knees/leg, if too much of it is showing, it looks kind of ridiculous and scandalous.

You would be surprised.

Depends on the thickness and style of the petticoat really, if it is ornate enough to not look silly poking out of the end of a skirt. but in most cases it probably won't accent your oufit very well so try to buy the right length skirts

I think it depends on the style as well. Like if its ero-loli, then well....all they wear usually are petticoats.

I usually, if my skirt does not have a nice lace edging... might let my petticoat show just a little bit. I think if that is the case, it just adds detail and is cute, so not slutty 3nodding

Sure, but some petticoats are amazingly detailed and just as pretty as bloomers.

Indeed, but most are just tulle or gathered organdy, which doesn't really add anything to the hem treatment. Maybe if it were one of those really intricate vintage petticoats with the awesome lace trims, or if it matches up with the outfit particularly well, but most of the time, no.

As for the ero-lolita comment...that's really only in photoshoots. If you walked out in public wearing nothing but a petticoat and bloomers, you're going to look awfully underdressed. o_O;;
