 Raven black hooves moved at a soft canter through the woods; the terrain that Setsumi most called home. And so it was without difficulty that she was able to navigate through the thick trees and mature bushes, making high steps to avoid tripping on roots while dipping low to pass low foliage. Just another day's morning walk, expect this one had a certain destination at the end. Snuffing to that reminding thoughts, the mare flicked small ears back before her eyes turned to peer behind her.
"How are you holding up, dear?" It had near been a month since her and Mel's children were born. Two healthy and beautiful daughters. And while Mel was watching over Kahili, Setsumi took care of Akehaso. The destination at mind now and the reason for this long morning walk was to see the other two for a family reunion. No point in keeping the children seperated for too long.
Giving a soft giggle, the mother turned and nosed at her daughter as she caught up, nipping lightly on her pink feathers. "Come now, we have to be there by the sun's mid-path." It wasn't too far until they reach the meadow from here.

 Akehaso was a rather timid young filly. Although nervous and rather attentive to the world around her, today she was rather relaxed as she followed her mother through the woods. She rather excitedly followed her wherever she went, eager to see where they would end up.
When her mother nipped lightly on her pink feathers, Akehaso replied to the gesture with a very playful gentle whinny and nipped at whatever bits of momma's mane that she could grab her teeth onto.
"The sun's mid-path? You mean when it's highest in the sky?" Ake squeaked inquisitively, stopping momentarily to ponder those words. When her mother moved ahead, she hurried to catch up, seeming amused at the loud clodding noises her hooves made whenever she stood on the stones that were on the path they were travelling.

  Mel was enjoying his walk back to see Setsumi and his other daughter, though most likely not as much as Kahili. The sun was shining and it was very warm out, a perfect day for a relaxing outing. He'd still neglected to tell his family about his new children but they were busy and when he saw them again he'd let them know. His mother would probably scold him for keeping her grandchildren away from her for so long but he himself was still adjusting to being a dad.
Every once in a while he'd have to call to the filly that was leading him more than following so she didn't get too far away. She was the daring one of the family, one with no fear and the one to always rush at anything that moved just see who or what it was. In a nut shell, she was exhausting.Kahili zipped around and zoomed after little grasshoppers and bumblebees that were around her. As often as she chased bugs she'd not once actually caught one but it was still fun to try! When her name was called she would run back to her dad and n** at his tail for a while before seeing another bug and running off again. It became a sort of routine.
A while later she could see the edge of some trees and there were some figures moving through them. A large one and...one her size! "Look daddy, people!" she shouted happily as she took off toward the unknown shapes in the trees."Kahili! Get back here!" Also now knowing who was through the trees, he raced after her to try and block her path just in case something unfriendly decided to jump out at her. She was definitely going to get herself into trouble one of these days.

Setsumi snuffed as Ake nipped through her long mane, not minding it at all since it was in need for grooming anyway. She didn't want to bother glancing at her tail to see what tangled there too. Rubbing velvet lips over her daughters own mane, the mother nodded. "That's right dear. When the sun is far above us and our shadows right below us." Though with trees creating a comfortable shade in many directions, that might not be the easiest to tell.
Continuing their walk, the duo made soft haste to the edge of the woods. All the beautiful trees, young and old, began to thin around them and the ground was becoming a flat but soft carpet of grass. Alert eyes scouted the open fields ahead of them while Setsumi kept her daughter at safe bay. Then there was a splash of color in the distance, and noises that struck familiarity in the mare. "Look who's here, Akehaso. It's your father and sister, and just on time too."
