I think this looks rediculous! and it was titled my dream dress on photobucket!!!!! am I the only one that thinks she looks like one of those figurines being pressed into a wedding cake? how can she walk in it?!?! I'll bet it's more of a waddle. xd I really think they look weird. but I'll bet a lot of wemon like them. WHat I want to know is why? tell me why! seriously i don't get. I thought they were a new thing too, starting with the stars that want to look like mermaids, but this other pic looks pretty old. They are so tight that they look like their going to rip any second, and then theirs this random flare at the end that reminds me of a fin. WE ARE NOT FISHES!!!!!!! We were not meant to be fishes! Why are these dresses so appealing? Ok ladies lay it on me. What's you're opinion? I know some of you like them.

Well, I've seen one on my sister, and she looked absolutely hideous. xD
I don't like them very much, they look too weird. Lol.

It is pretty hard to pull off, and just has a very unconventional and awkward shape to it.

Demons come from every sight . . .
Some people can just pull it off. I wouldn't wear it.

the second picture looks like a poofier version of Morticia's gown. [Addam's Family] . If I could pull it off I know I'd wear that - Tisch is one of my style icons. She did not waddle! She wiggles and glides. Actually.. she stood around a lot but damned if she didn't look fabulous. The wedding cake versions are saccharine sweet and therefore disgusting. I'm not much for ..poof

ah, I suppose it does look like tisch's dress...but tischs looked better. I wouldn't classify hers as a mermaid dress. She was VERY beautiful.

God those look terrible! XD Though really I think it's how it's worn.
I've got to admit I've got a skirt that's vaguely like that but it's just one layer so it only goes like that if you spin around a lot. So more like Morticia's dress than those. It goes great with corsets though if you've got an hourglass. (And does wonders if you want to show off your bum!)

I think the reason everyone likes them is because not only do you get the pretty-princess like poof that fans when you dance but you also get the thin as a twig appearance where it matters. Basically it's a way of showing off a hard earned figure while keeping with an elegant dressed-up theme.
I've always thought people liked it because it continues on with the hour glass theme, I actually wore one to my Semi-formal and it looked beautiful I thought... I wish I could find some pictures.

That dress looks hideous and awful to walk in, I'v never worn one nor seen anyone wear one but the people in the pictures look awful in them, the first picture looks almost ok, but still not great.

Those dresses are difficult to walk in, some people can pull them off, as has been stated before. I believe the reason people are so taken with it is because of the Disney's "Little Mermaid" and the stories of how mermaids are beautiful and such. Of course, both those women aren't the prettiest fish in the sea in them. (Yeah, I know, my jokes suck, but anywho...) I know for a fact I'd never wear such a thing for the sole fact I would fall flat on my face because of how ungraceful and klutzy I am. However, some of the less "poofy bottomed" designs can be quite pretty. I think it all depends on the style of the dress and the build of a person. Still, they're not the most ideal dress to be picking from, what with fitted gowns, princess gowns, ball gowns, etc.
