[Okay so now that i've fixed the repeat issue...]
Plot: Well so to speak there isn't much of one as I had wrote this on my laptop last week out of boredom. Mostly its Arc contemplating her life and witnessing a rare event of the earth: rain! I think I just posted it for the sake of it... just to see if it would go anywhere.
The sun glared that day, the heat near unbearable in the busy city. Men and women filled the streets, going to and from their jobs seemingly oblivious to the clouds settling outside the dome that sheilded them from the world. It would rain today, but the drops would evaporate before hitting the ground.
The lips of a young ryoe woman smiled as she sat atop the dome, outside of it where only few could stand the polluted air. Truly she could not even handle it, for covering the lower part of her face was a mask that cleared the air for her to breath. It was a new invention of hers, she hadn't named it yet or really shown it to anyone outside her lab. It still needed testing, which was why she sat with a notepad on her lap checking not only the capabilities of the mask but the general changes in the atmosphere.
Her smile was bright, but her eyes sad for deep down she could feel the pain of the earth, for man to let her suffer for so long. She was dying, all of them knew it, but somewhere deep down the ryoe hoped to change things. Clouds were a good sign, as was the coming rain, it showed that the world still held potential for natural life. If only they could help the rain reach the grounds and nourish its ability to grow green once more.
The wind picked up, breaking her thoughts and ruffling her hair and she looked down at the world below the dome. People seemed oblivious to her existance or her part in their everyday lives. She was one of the scientists that developed and perfected the undercity's ability to grow food and sustain life. Her findings could mean everything, and yet to some nothing. Her name was Arcainne, or Arc as she was commonly called in the labs and she was the youngest scientist in her lab. A protege so to say.
Her lips pursed at this thought, who decided this was her calling? There were plenty of other things she was good at; surfing, drawing and even cooking. But somehow science had become her 'thing'. Not that she really minded all that much, she felt good doing things to help society.
This thought consumed her so that she failed to notice her board slip over the edge of the dome. She had attached her chain to her ankle to free her arms as she worked and this proved to be her downfall as she was dragged sliding down the edge after it with a squeal. Her hair flying up she held her notes with one arm and reached desperately for the chain with the other. By the time she grabbed hold of it though, it was too late and she landed on the ground with a loud crash, tumbling forward.
For several moments she lay looking to the red sun her body racked with pain of her fall and the heat of the sand. Groaning she finally stood and shook the sand from her fur. Looking to her board she swore realizing her engine was busted and her notes scattered. Ripping the chain from her leg she ran around frantically for the notes.
"Nonononononononono noooo!!" she whined as she ran about quickly, quicker than recommended in the intense heat. But for her work she deemed it worthy.

The papers fluttering across the ground caught in swirling patterns in the wind, some being snatched up by the frantic ryoe, others snagging in rocks or leafless branch sprouts--forms that once useto be bushes. One strey paper caught up under the thump of a boot. A hand leaned and scooped it up, then tucked it into the other stack of maybe a dozen other papers which the tall, slender draken had caught. Ryet'n straightened and walked over to offer Arc the papers. " Now do you believe me about being more careful?" his orange eyes staired her down.

The young Ryoe looked up hearing her coworker's critical voice, her cheeks flushing a brilliant shade of red to match the smoldering ball of flame in the sky, her lips for once parted but speechless. But determined not to be caught off guard by the man she clamped her jaw shut and took the papers back, nestling them with her own.
"Nothing catastrophic happened, it was just a minor slip up," Arc replied nonchalantly shrugging as she stuffed the papers into her bag and made to collect the rest. Rescuing several sheets from what she believed had once been a small tree of some sort she glanced back at the draken raising a brow.
"Why are you out here anyways? I thought you were working in the lab today," she asked crouching down to gather more sheets, her tail flicking gently from side to side so as to keep from touching the burning hot sand.

He laughed, " that was until i heard that you where comming out for some research by yourself. You, alone, outside, with no one else? I took one of my early-leave cards."

Arc's jaw dropped, her brows raising with surprise as she stood and turned to look at Ryet'n placing a hand on her hip resting her weight on her back leg, characteristically like someone her own age. It was odd for her as in the lab she was all business; work, study, test then clean up. Her other hand clutched the papers to her chest to keep the stifling breeze from tearing them away.
"Excuse me? I do field research all the time without incidents like this! You're just bad luck," she accused smirking childishly.

" I'm bad luck?" he sparred back smirkingly, " who just saved half the work you spilled across the winds?"

"Ah, but your bad luck is what caused the mess in the first place," she said, like a true smart-aleck as she stuffed the last of her papers into her bag and straightened walking to her board, inspecting it. Poking at the engine she sighed, it was dead, by some means unknown to her the trip had fried her engine.
"Ah, Pooh," she muttered pressing the button to recoil the chain, at least that still worked. "Ryet'n, where's the nearest board shop around here? I think I need a new engine."

He smirked and unclipped his own board from the holster on his back. He offered the object to her, " center city unfortunately. There are side shops, however, i wouldn't trust them. If you want a trustworthy mechanic, you'll want to go to center city. You can use my board, unless you think my bad luck will jinx it, in which case you can happily walk. It would only take two and a half hours on foot," he grinned broadly.

Arc laughed and nodded, but was reluctant to take the board.
"And what are you going to do being board-less?" she asked, not wanting to leave him stranded on the surface or left to walk when she was using his board to mend what was truly her own fault. Kneeling she collected up her board and hitched in into the holder on her back. Hopefully she could have the repairs done quickly, her board was her sole means of outdoor transport.

His smirk broadened. With a ruffle of his sun cloak--the reflective fabric which guarded the cold blooded man from the full force of the sun--his wings unfolded. " Wings," he showed her, " i'm a dragon, you keep seeming to forget. Sure, my board is faster, but i'll get to where i'm going quicker then you would be able to with no board."

"Touche," she said chuckling as she uttered the old French saying. Setting the board down she flicked on the engine and when it came to life with a faithful purr she hopped on catching her balance with ease. The board rose slowly as she felt out its workings for any kinks.
"Where you headed now anyways? I mean now that you know I'll be safe underground and not causing the next cataclysm," she said grinning as she hovered around him, finding the board was fine.

" I dunno," he smirked, " you are skilled at cataclysm creating. You might find a way to pull it off even underground."

"Boy your mean today," she teased before sticking her tongue out at him from behind her mask and zipping around near the surface, the scalding wind ruffling her short hair in a furry mess about her head. "Really now, when have I even caused a catastrophe big enough to be considered a cataclysm?"

In a catch of wings he swooped up and beside the board rider. " Well there was that time in the lab with the flame eruption and the shortened face furs. I swear, that Ryoe still wont go anywhere near you," he laughed as he glided beside her.
