Already dressed and with her headphones draped around her neck, she as staring at her father as he was laying in bed. For some reason they weren't going to school today and mommy wasn't going to work. Which of coruse meant that they should be doing fun things together...but here was daddy, sleeping away as the sun was out and about. Frowning she tilted her head at him and promptly lifted a finger, poking at him. "Daddy, you gotta get up."

Standing on a stool, he was scrubbing the last of syrup off his plate from the pancakes he'd had for breakfast. Using the scrub brush, he carefully removed every trace then set the heavy plate into the dishwasher. Now to find his sister like his mother had asked him to. He checked their room but her unmade bed was the only trace of her. "Felicity? Mama wants you." Traipsing down the hall while bouncing a green rubber ball, he missed it and chased it into his parent's room. Lo and behold, there his sister was. "Lici? Mama says it's almost time to go."

By now she had hold of her father's wrist and was tugging at him, not that she was doing much to disturb the vampire. Unknown to her, her father had been his vampire self all night, grading papers and what not and had gone to bed not two hours ago. His lack of sleep for the past week was also something she was oblivious to. A look over her shoulder as she paused in her tugging, blinking bright green eyes at her brother. "But daddy isn't up yet and I can't get him up." Cue frowny look to that one and tugging again. Better try another tactic, "Daddy!" Promptly sinking fangs into his hand to make sure he was listening. And she gave a giggle as he startled with a snort of sorts, her fangs letting go as he was still apparently dazed. "Time to get up!"

What in God's Blood was that?! Looking around bleary eyed for a moment his eyes turned to his daughter who stood there with an innocent smile. Slight pain in his hand had him looking down to it. Little trails of blood that ran from two tiny pin pricks that were now closing already. Another blink and a look to his daughter. "Did you bite me?" Of course that sentence came out more muttled and half asleep and confused.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 29, 2008 2:55 pm

"Mama didn't say to get him, Lici. Just you. Now come on." Shaking his head and moving to grab his sister's hand before he blinked and glanced down at his father. Uh-oh. "She did it." No way was he getting blamed for that.

Standing at the door with all their bags and car keys, Sam had her cell phone tucked between her shoulder and her ear. She really needed to get the hands free thing especially for when she was driving. "Mmhmm. Just keep applying pressure until you see it. Do you see it?" Pausing as she tried to decipher the noises from the background and twisting her wrist to glance at her watch. Where were those kids? "No, don't do that. Nice and slow. There you go. Now when you hear the pop, it's back in place. Got it? Good. Sure. I'll see you soon." Hanging up the phone, she waited another few minutes and then climbed the stairs and poked her head into the twins' room. "Felicity and Thobias! Let's go."

Giggling and voices coming from her room clued her in and she walked in then frowned at her husband who was supposed to be sleeping. "I'm sorry, Xe. I thought I had corralled them downstairs. Thobias, I told you to get your sister."

"I did! She bit Daddy."

"She..." Shaking her head. "Felicity Rosalind. What have we told you about that? Your fangs are not to be used to get someone's attention. Now, kiss Daddy goodbye and let's go. We're late."

She frowned at her brother as he more or less rat her out. That was not a fun thing! "But he wouldn't get up!" Said in plaintive tone to her mother as she was shaking her head. "We can't leave without him! He'll have no fun!"

Eyes moved up to his wife as he wiped the blood from his hand onto the sheets without care for them at the moment. And they could be washed. Something or other was said in Italian to his wife before he yawned and plopped face first into his pillow, one hand flailing out a moment to pat each child on the head in his own goodbye.

Another frown at both her reprimanding, the petting, and the tone mommy was using. Giving an over dramatic and heavy sigh she made a pouty face and trudged out of the room past her mother and started back downstairs. "How come daddy isn't coming?"

Handing each of the children their respective backpacks of things to keep themselves busy once in the doctor's office, she shooed them out of the room then said her own personal goodbye to her husband, tucking him back in and telling him in Italian not to worry about anything. Pulling the door closed behind her, she gave her daughter a reassuring smile. "Daddy's just really tired. He's been working really hard lately and he needs to catch up on his sleep. So you and Toby and I are going to take care of your appointment and then we're going to the movies." She rattled off the newest not quite kid but not quite tween movie either and then grinned. "You know your dad doesn't like those kinds of movies. He won't miss out." Wrapping an arm around each twin as she ushered them with her own body to the car.

He followed along rather dutifully, making a face at the flick they were going to see. Lici's choice this time, his was next and then he'd get to go see the newest sci-fi movie that was coming out soon. That was exciting. Climbing into the car, he clicked his seat belt and then crossed his arms. The car ride was pretty quiet since his sister was still sulking as his mother was concentrating on the road. He saw her hide a yawn a few times but ignored her, blinking as they pulled up to a strange clinic. "This isn't our doctor, Mama." He knew the way to the pediatrician almost by heart since it was in the same hospital Mama worked.

This is a new special doctor who wants to see you. Last time you were in here you were both toddling." Opening the door for the two of them and gesturing to the row of chairs along one walll. "Go sit down and I'll sign us in."

"Daddy works too late." She gave a noise of acceptance seeing as she was more or less being placated with a movie and such afterwards. Meant candy too. Plopping in the car next to her brother she clicked her belt as well and then promptly clicked 'on' on her music player for the car ride, though it was low enough so that if mommy had something to say to her then she could hear it.

A blink same as her brother then when she looked out the car window. "How come we have to see a new one?" Hopping out of the car and heading inside, taking her brother's hand out of comfort since this place wasn't exactly familiar to them. Pulling him with her, she sat down in a chair, feet dangling above the floor with little fangs chewing lightly at her bottom lip. Leaning to her brother she whispered in his ear, "It smells funny in here..."

The woman at the desk where his mother was currently standing gave him an odd look when he yawned and showed the visible points of his fangs. Rubbing his eyes, he flopped back in the plastic chair and nodded to his sister. "It's creepy, too. I like our other doctor better."

Writing their names down on the roster, Sam frowned at Selma, who even after all the years of them coming here, still had never been even the slightest bit polite. Taking a seat next to Felicity, she tucked a strand of her daughter's hair behind her ear. "I know this is different. But Daddy and I owe this clinic a lot and they've requested that we bring you here for routine checkups as you grow up. It won't be bad, you'll see."

Today was an important day for Cyprus; it was his duty to fill in for Ronchas, the main doctor for the Double Trouble clinic. There was only one scheduled appointment but some how the poor newbie doctor was able to screw it up. It wasn’t too bad, he only misplaced the twin’s file was all. There was really nothing to fret about.

“Gah, really Cyprus of all the things you could have done,” he said lifting up the same pile of papers he had previously moved. This was his third time he had tried looking in that spot on Ronchas’ desk. Placing the papers back down, Cyprus sighed and scratched at his head, messing up his ponytail. “Maybe Selma has seen them.”

Taking this opportunity to take a breather, Cyprus stepped out into the waiting room, his eyes closed in desperation. Again he sighed and asked, “Selma dear, have you seen the file for today’s appointment?” She wasn’t much help, just told him that the last time she saw the folder was in his hands. Well that was a waste, or was it?

It clicked, of course, now he knew where the twin’s file was. He had placed it next to the old magazines in the office while he went to get another cup of coffee before the family had arrived. Cyprus snapped his fingers and gave a smile before turning and walking back into Ronchas’ office all the while not notices that his charges sitting just to the side.

Within seconds there was a knock on the door, Selma took this moment to tell him that the Calder twins were here for their appointment. Feeling terribly embarrassed for his antics Cyprus chuckled at himself before widening the door for Samantha and her children. “Please, come in.”

"The walls are pretty there." Granted their mother worked in a section of the hospital that was made for mothers and children and the like. Giving a sigh to her mother then as her hair was fixed and what not. "Then daddy should be here too." Yup, still pouty about it and thusly she took one of her ear phones off, handing it to her brother so he could listen too while they waited.

Soon enough though they were being ushered down a hall and to a door that was opened to...someone they didn't know and she side stepepd into her brother more, still holding his hand.

He took it and put it in his ear but more to keep his sister happy than actually listen to the music. He was glancing around and noting various details of the place to compare with their own doctor's place later and tell his father about it, too. He didn't really understand what his parents might owe this place since they usually paid money to people and then they were left alone. But he held tightly to his sister's hand and stared at the man through big gray eyes. Every the quiet one, he didn't say a word, just plopped his butt in a chair and kicked his feet waiting.

Who was he and where was Ronchas? They had only seen the lucrative doctor one time in all their appointments here and Sam's frustration with secondary sources was keen. Noah Bowen had proven fairly intelligent and knowledgeable so she'd give the same consideration to this new doctor as well. All their information, including the intimate facts about being a vampire should still be in their file.

"Thank you." Back to a familiar office and settled in chairs once again, she wished Xearus was there with her. "I assume Dr. Ronchas was otherwise occupied?" Nodding to that she performed introductions quickly, identifying herself simply as Samantha Calder and her twins by their first names. "My husband wasn't able to be here today so I'd like a copy of the report if that won't be too much trouble. We trust original sources rather than secondhand."

Trying to peer inconspicuous, Cyprus made his way to retrieve the file from the table of magazines, He smiled at the two children before picking up the folder. “Yes ma’am, he’s… preoccupied with other matters at the moment. I will take over for him today.” He moved over to the doctor’s desk, setting the file down before opening it. He took a pen from his coat pocket, pressed it against the table so that the pen would click to reveal its tip before scribbling something on two of the papers inside.

Cyprus wasn’t old, but he could sure pass off as mid-forties even though he’s only thirty-five. When he smiled his crow’s feet were easily noticeable as well as the slight lines around his mouth. He was a thin fellow with long dirty blond hair that he kept in a loose ponytail.

He looked over at the children as they stayed quiet and thought that it was a better time to talk with the mother then to give them the shot. “How are their powers developing?” Cyprus asked still leaning over the table, his green eyes watching the mother but his pen was ready to write down everything that she’d say.

Knowing better than to have her music on when they were with new people, and apparently doctors, she had turned off her player and let the phones drape around her neck again. one hand still holding her brother's as they sat once more she leaned over so that her head was resting on her brother's shoulder. The grown ups were talking. But a blink at that word. She'd heard that word. Mommy and daddy talked about it a lot.

"We're 'sposed to be careful." Of course being Felicity...she always did have trouble being quiet when she found interest in something. Like now for instance. She assumed that he meant what they knew as 'wishing' between them.

Manners boosted him a bit higher in Sam's opinion but the real test would be his actions, reactions, and doctoring ability. She settled her bags down at her feet, crossed her legs and studied the doctor for a moment. "There hasn't been a significant change since the last time. I assume you are aware that Thobias and Felicity each possess what appears to be one half of a power? Thobias' ability to break things is offset by Felicity's equal ability to repair them. To date we've had a cookie jar, a vase, and a glass. Xearus and I have resolved to keep an eye on it since they are growing and their mental abilities are becoming more astute. There's also the factor that we are vampires and have enhanced abilities of our own. We have yet to learn if that extends to this 'power' from the serum or not."

Giving a smile to her daughter, she nodded. "We do not encourage or discourage the children from using them but have told them to be careful. They seem to be able to understand the difference between accidental usage when upset or hurt and purposeful usage when they wish to get their own way or something of that sort."

Thobias watched the man with large gray eyes, wrapping an arm around his sister's shoulder as she leaned against him. She was almost like his cuddle buddy when it came to new and strange situations. "Wanna see?"

"We at the clinic won't know the extend the vampirism has on the twins either," Dr. Sterling said finishing up the note he was writing. It wasn't going to be easy to figure out if being a vampire effected the twins powers or not. To truly know the difference it'd make, the clinic would have to compare the two with another set of twins that were not vampires but had the same powers - and that, likely, wasn't going to happen.

When Thobias spoke up about showing off his power, Cyprus couldn't help but get excited. It wasn't every day that the doctor was able to see the serum's side effects in action. In all honesty he'd only seen children show signs of their powers, but never actively controlling them. However, he had to keep his curiosity at bay for it was the mother's decision if her children were allowed to use their powers or not. He peered over at Samantha, "It's fine with me, but as long as your mother says it's alright." He looked back at the twins before fumbling around with his wrist watch. It was something of a gift, but it was the only thing he had on him that they could break, "You could use this." Besides, if they were allowed to show off their powers then it would be a great excuse to start telling their mother about the Academy that Dr. Ronchas wanted them to attend.
