Gazing around the clearing, Allariana liked the fact that there were still flowers out even under this blistering summer heat. They were so beautiful... The grass wasn't as green as it used to be but it was still pretty. The petite flutter walked through the tall grasses with the grace that only a flutter could have. Daintily, she smelled some flowers and started dancing about the clearing. Everything was so beautiful and happy. She had heard that some of her grandchildren just had children so that made her a great grandmother. She couldn't believe how large her family had grown.

Allariana couldn't be happier these days because what more could she ask for? Her family was flourishing and here she was to witness all of it. She grew tired of prancing in the field and stopped and took shelter in the shade underneath a large tree.

A familiar scent wafted across his nose, teasing him in an almost playful manner. It seemed that fate had once again pulled him towards the beautiful mare that had visited his dreams so many a night. He walked slowly towards the scent and his heartbeat began to speed up. It always had when Allariana was near.

He had a wandering spirit, such was his way. It was the way of some of his children and grandchildren as well. However, his heart never wandered too far. It has always belonged to the same mare, the mare whose scent was now pulling him near. When he spotted her, he couldn't resist a bold smile. She had aged very well. She still looked youthful and beautiful. Perhaps that was the way of flutters, or perhaps that was just her way. He knew that he had not been quite so lucky. He could feel the wear and tear of age and though he couldn't be sure, he suspected that more of his hair was turning white and his coat was fading slightly. Perhaps his mind was just playing tricks on him.

"Allariana," he called softly as he neared her. He didn't want to startle her. His dreams had not done her beauty justice. "It has been a long time," he added once he stopped beside her.

Pausing, the petite flutter lifted her head curiously. Her heart was beginning to beat faster as she recognized the scent. Even though it had been so long, she would never forget that scent. She had always belonged to Spectre no matter what and no matter how far away he was, she was with him. A huge smile appeared on her face as she saw Spectre come closer to her. "Spectre." She meant to say his name louder but she could barely get enough air to speak.

"It's been too long. How have you been?" Inquiring softly, Allariana really had missed Spectre so much even if she really didn't show it to others. Words couldn't explain how happy she was to have him be next to her right now.

"I have been well. I have traveled far across the land and have come to the conclusion that it never ends," though he ended it with a chuckle, he was quite serious. He really had gone so far and no matter where he turned, there was more land. He had seen flat land, hills, mountains, snow, deserts. It seemed that none was as beautiful as this one though. For his love of exploring, he was happy to be back home. "I.. hadn't meant to be gone so long," he whispered. It was easy for him to lose track of time when he was moving from one place to another.

He had decided that this trip would be his last. He was getting older now and it was time for him to settle down, but he would never have forgiven himself if he hadn't taken off for one last adventure. Would she understand? Did her heart still belong to him or had someone else came along and offered her what he had not been ready to give?

"I'm back for good," he started, hoping she'd believe him. "I had to take one more trip. My way of saying goodbye. I'm getting too old for them and it's time I settle down. There's only one person I want to do that with though. I'm not too late am I?" He lowered his head to look into her eyes. If he was late, he would not blame her. It was his fault.

If he wasn't too late.. he would never leave her side again.

Smiling pleasantly, Allariana listened to him as he told of his latest adventure. She couldn't help but smile because she loved hearing of what he has seen. "Sounds like you had a lot of fun." She was definitely glad that he seemed to have enjoyed himself during his journey. "No worries. I'm just glad that you're back now." The flutter beamed another smile but she couldn't deny that she hadn't missed him. There had always been a little hole in her heart since he disappeared for his last journey... maybe ... a rather large hole. But still, she continued on with her life but she knew that she had always been missing something and here he was.

"Back for good?" She was a little surprised by that. She wasn't sure why he had made this trip the last one until she heard his last question. Allariana's eyes went wide. She just paused letting it all sink in. "... One person?" Was he talking about her? When he was gone, Allariana had always been worried that a foreign mare would capture his heart. "Of... Of course not. Spectre, I've always been your's." Her voice had a certain excitement about it and all of her feelings for him seemed to burst out of their confines.

He was very fortunate. Most mares would have given up on him long ago. Most mares would have moved on, found someone to take care of them. He had never been the kind of stallion Allariana needed or deserved but there was hope still that he could be. He really felt like his wanderlust days had finally come to an end. Even now, he felt both oddly comfortable and mildly awkward with the mare. It was so easy for him to fall right into place when around her but he wasn't sure if she would feel any awkwardness due to his long disappearances.

He stepped closer and lowered his mouth and nose to rest against her forehead. He would take baby steps if needed. She had given him so much time to come to his own senses. He would give her as much as she needed to feel comfortable around him again and he would accept how long it took for him to really earn the right to be at her side. "I have been such a fool," he whispered near her ears.
