Kido Ranges

These grassy ranges stretch for about a mile with various firing lines, targets and empty spaces ("cleared areas") for zanpaku-to and Kido sparring utilization. There are three sheds with extra targets, water and first aid that are neatly organized on shelves. This area is surrounded by an eight foot brick wall (for safety of course) There is a sign posted at the front gate that reads-

User ImageKuro slowly entered the kido ranges and glanced around in order to study the area. Nagi knew this field better than him, therefore if they were going to have a battle, he would need to learn as much as possible about the area. He stopped abruptly near the center of the range as he noticed several targets that were lined up for recruits to practice their kido. He yawned as he began stretching, raising his hands above his head and bending forward, attempting to touch his toes. He finished his excersizes and then glanced up to see if the others had arrived yet. He had shunpoed ahead in order to learn more about the area, and now had to wait.

He untied the jug of sake from his waist and popped the cork off and began drinking gulps from it. Thankfully it required a large amount of sake in order to get him drunk, he only drank enough before a fight to clear his head. This allowed him to focus on the battle and think rationally in tough situations. He sat down on the hard ground and waited for the others to arrive.

Nagi appeared at the front gate. As he was walking to the ranges, he had been talking to Kuro about how things were going to go down when he realized that the man was no longer next to him.

"Typical... I was talking to myself like a crazy person..." he uttered while shun-poing the rest of the way to the training field.

"That's because you are a crazy person that talks to yourself all the time..." the voice in the back of his mind replied.

You don't count...

"You're going to hurt my feelings you know..."

Since when do you have feelings?

"You have a point there..."

Sure enough, the moment he set foot on the grounds he spotted Kuro off in the distance. Deciding to allow the man to take a look around, Nagi took in a deep breath and relaxed. The scent of freshly cut grass met his nose. This place was relatively new but he had been here many times before to set it up before. This was his first time actually using it. It was kind of funny how it was with the last person he'd ever expect.

Nagi then let out a "whoops" and rolled his eyes. He forgot that Mock was with them as well. He glanced behind him, seeing if the kid was finally caught up to them.

MockaDash was left behind because he lost some time speaking to Ryan... But since he knew the 5th division grounds, he headed straight to the kidou ranges...

When he got there he first saw the captain, and then he noticed Kuro at a far distance... He walked up to Nagi and smiled as he spoke "Here I am Captain... I mean, Nagi-san!!!..." He was still not used to his recent transfer to another division. The shinigami scrathed the back os his head "What do you expect me to do??? Where do I sit???"

User ImageKuro walked over to Nagi and Mock, glancing from one to the other. "Ready when you are, Captain." He said with a quick smile as he folded his arms over his chest, his right hand resting on the hilt of his zanapkuto as he remained ready for anything to happen. Nagi had always been frightened of Kuro, or at least uneasy around him. Kuro just hoped that this wouldn't be a problem. He had heard about another side of Nagi that took control during times of stress or when provoked. This side of Nagi would hopefully make things interesting.

Kyuuri slowly made her way into the grounds, dead last. Her wings were barely flapping and she suddenly fell to the ground with a thud, panting for air. She was too stuborn and had decided to fly the whole way to the ranges, despite Kuro telling her not to tire herself before his rush to the ranges. She slowly crawled away to a safe place where she could watch the battle without being damaged or affected by the reaitsu. "I....will....never....fly again." She uttered these words in between gasps of breath. Kuro just laughed at her situation and then turned his attention back to the two shinigami.

"Sit wherever you like but keep your distance." Nagi warned while smiling at Mock. "I don't want to have to take you to squad four today." With that, Nagi leaned forward a bit as if he were whispering. "There's no telling what'll happen with Captain Kuro's current kido skills..."

Turning his attention back to Kuro and his amusing little companion, he pointed to their left to where one of the "cleared" areas were.

"We will start over there." Nagi explained, feeling somewhat astonished that Kuro was referring him as "captain." Kuro was much older and had been an officer much longer than Nagi. Being addressed with that kind of respect made him feel that strange pride he felt just minutes ago. What was it about Kuro that kept making him feel this way? Also, it seemed that he more time he spent around the man the braver Nagi became. Then again, they were on Nagi's turf and under his safety rules so he had to act in a professional manner. Showing signs of nervousness wasn't the best way to go about it.

Heading in the direction in which Nagi previously pointed to, he glanced back at Kuro again. "For the record, how much kido do you know?" He asked, suddenly feeling interested in just how skilled this man was.

User ImageKuro stared at the ground in deep thought as he compiled a list of the kido he once used constantly in battle. "Lets see, I can use destructive spells up to sixty three, and binding spells sixty one and seventy five. I rarely used the binding spells, but was rather gifted in destructive spells." He grinned as he thought back to his time in squad seven when he would train the new shinigami, blasting them to pieces and watching them squirm to learn their zanpakuto's name.

He shook his head, regaining his concentration on the matter at hand. He shifted his weight to his left leg as he glanced back up at Nagi, his eyes making contact with the captain. "I mostly just want to regain my destructive skills, though I may try a few binding spells as well." He unfolded his arms and let them hang straight at his sides. He felt weird being a student again, but he could think of no reason not to regain his kido skills.

MockaDash quietly moved to a safe distance... He was eager to watch the match and try to learn a thing or two... "Man!!!... Hadous up to sixty three???... " he said to himself as his eyes sparkled "...This is going to be interesting!!!..."

"Wow..." Nagi murmured in response to Kuro's reply. Glad that Mock was off to find a safe area, he wasn't worried about holding back now. Now that the two of them were alone, he (hopefully with Kuro following) began walking over to the cleared sparring area where they were designated to train. He had no idea that Kuro ever learned any kido but once again, Nagi didn't ever take the time to get to know him. Perhaps this was a good opportunity. Maybe Kuro wasn't as psycho as Nagi thought.

"If you cant remember any of the incantations just ask and I'll tell you." he explained as he reached the area. "I know you're of captain class but if you're rusty it might be a good idea to use them until you get the hang of them again... We can begin anytime you wish. This kido training can go on as long as you are able to still use it. Basically... until you're out of spirit energy."

Nagi then paused for a moment. Once again he felt kind of strange that he was telling Kuro all of this. There was no doubt a very good chance that Kuro already knew but Nagi wasn't going to risk it. He smiled awkwardly as he lightly scratched the back of his head. "This'll take a while probably..."

Genji felt lost as usual. He could never remember where things were. His destination was the Squad Five Kido Ranges. Since Genji was new, he did not know many kido and wished to learn knew ones. His goal today was to learn White Lightning. Even though his constant shyness made everything difficult, he mustered up the courage to ask someone to help him. He just hoped that they could hear is meek request.

User ImageKuro slowly followed behind Nagi, his seemed deep in thought as he began recalling certain spells that he would need in order to perform the kido. "Alright...." He glanced up at Nagi with a dark smile. Why not have some fun messing with Nagi while he practiced? He held up his hand, extending his index finger as he pointed toward Nagi. A dark fire seemed to burn within his eyes as a glared at the captain. "Hado 4: White Lightning" He didn't have to recite the incantation to such a low level spell, even if he hadn't used it in a such a long time. The familiar feeling of the reiatsu rushing down his arm and focusing in the tip of his finger felt so natural to him. A ball of light blue reaitsu formed on the tip of his finger and suddenly burst forth in a blast of lightning, firing toward NagiThe blast missed him by inches as it travel to his left, blasting a small target behind him to pieces.

((sorry about posting so late, the holiday weekend has kept me busy sweatdrop ))

((Same here so don't worry about it. I don't know if you've read the 'come and go" thread in the meeting hall but I'll be leaving for two weeks this Thursday. We're going to have to put our training on hold. Sorry about that.))

Nagi didn't move an inch as the hado shot past his face. Though he didn't care for someone aiming a kido at him, he had enough experience with these things to know where it was going to hit. The sound of a target being demolished met his ears, informing Nagi that Kuro had hit his target. The former 11th division captain had fired it off with such ease that it made Nagi question what division Kuro had started off in. Then again, it was a lower level kido so it was hard to tell if he was any good with the higher ones.

"Good shot..." Nagi grinned, realizing that his knees were shaking a little bit. He usually kept his calm when it came to this but perhaps it was because it was still Kuro. The thought of it was still messing with his nerves. "You don't seem to be having any trouble with that one... Try to do one of the higher numbers."

After he spoke, Nagi moved out of the way so that Kuro could pick another target without feeling the need to make Nagi wet himself again.

Namon rushed across the field and to the training fields. He could see the Captain speaking with another Shinigami, teaching Kidou again. Namon stopped before reaching Nagi, seeing that he was busy. There was nothing Namon needed to say that could not wait. Instead, he turned towards one of the practitioners and watched.

User ImageKuro watched mindlessly as Nagi rushed out of his way, in an attempt to avoid any more potential attacks from Kuro. "Aww, you're no fun. I probably wouldn't hit you.....probably." Kuro seemed lost in thought, one hand resting on his zanpakuto's hilt, the other was held near his mouth as he nibbled on his thumb nail. His fingers drummed the metal tip of his hilt, creating a thin tapping noise that lightly reverberated through the training range. The rhythm seemed to help his train of thought as he tried remembering what incantations went with certain kido spells.

"Hmmm......I suppose I will use my favorite kido." He extended his right arm directly in front of him, opening his hand until his palm was flat. He could once again feel the rush of reaitsu that now flowed through his arm as he prepared the kido.

"Now lets see....how did that spell go...." He closed his eyes for a moment, only to open them only seconds after with a large smile on his face. "I remember now. I could attempt to do it without the incantation, though I would much rather get the feel of it once more before I do that." He cleared his throat as if he were about to make an announcement, preparing to recite the incantation from memory.

"Ye Lord! Mask of flesh and bone, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, Upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws!" A ball of deep blue reaitsu formed in his palm this time, almost the size of a baseball. "Hado 33: Blue Fire Crash Down" He spoke loudly with a strange smirk on his face. The ball of light seemed to shake violently within his palm then suddenly burst forth in a giant blast of destructive power, destroying only two targets that were set close to each other.

To a normal person this would seem like another successful kido performance, but to Kuro it was almost as bad as a complete failure. He lowered his arm, allowing it to swing limply at his side, as his gaze fell to the ground. He used this kido more than any other back in the day, and was able to do a great deal of damage with the spell. As I thought, I've lost some skill over time.....I will have to start working on my focus and flow of reaitsu. That should increase the power of the blast

"What squad were you in before you joined squad five? I just realized I don't really know that much about you, same goes for you knowing anything about me. I've only known you since you became Buru's Vice forever ago." He spoke lightly, attempting to stir up a small conversation between them as he also focused on his training. He began preparing to perform the same kido once again.

((its fine, I don't mind waiting. I will probably be busy anyway, especially this week.))

Nagi watched wide eyed as the hado burst fourth and desecrated the targets. He could sense that the amount of spirit energy that was put into it was far greater than required to fire the hado. Kuro must have had so much that it would only release itself in large quantities. ...Not that it was a horrible thing.

Wondering why Kuro was looking so disappointed about what just happened, he suddenly had an eyebrow raised as the sudden question was thrown up in the air. Of all people, Nagi would have never expected Kuro to be so intellectual. At first, he was expecting this training to start off rather awkward and quiet. Perhaps with the usual random threat to Nagi's life... the usual. Where was this coming from?

"I joined second division first." Nagi replied, suddenly feeling nostalgic as his mind suddenly began filling itself with old memories. Then the ones with Buru started coming up at the mention of his name. Nagi shook his head and continued with better thoughts. "The first person I ever met was a member and my trainer as well. I knew shun-po too but I was really clumsy with it... I used to run into trees a lot."

Letting out a sigh, he suddenly smiled at the other captain, grateful that this training was actually turning out to be pleasant. It was obvious that he had this man all wrong and that there was a human in there.

"Well... I suppose I never really got to know you because... well... I'm sure you know." he said awkwardly. "I admit that I'm interested in knowing more about you as well so I suppose the same question goes to you."
