A bit on the Drow PantheonI get bored. I need a project of somesort to keep my constant interest. Here's my project, just for those bored. This will be as exclusively as Forgotten Realms ((Hereafter referred to as FR)), but there will always be some oddities, as Greyhawk and FR exsist within the same Multi-verse in Planescape, which is another setting that is splashed into this guild's continuity. So what will I do? Well, I'm not about to announce the history of Undergaia in stone, but I will make this as creditable as possible to the guild, so that the Roleplayers can use this and those who do not, merely would enjoy reading it for merely an intellectual pursuit of the Dark Elves. I will add as much about them as I can. If Greyhawk has a totally different story, I will list both FR and Greyhawk, I want this to be a good complete thread. Also, no offense to those who comment about it, but would you please delete posts? Only to ensure it will appear rather nice and organized for those reading. Thank you for the support in advance. And those who bad mouth me: Go make your own and make it better then mine. This is for the good of the guild. You think you can do better. Go do better.

Kiaransalee Lady of the Dead, The Revenancer, The Vengeful Banshee Kiaransalee ( kee-uh- ran-sa-lee) is cruel, twisted, and consumed by thoughts of vengeance. The Lady of the Dead descended into madness long ago, but she retains her twisted cunning and clear recollection of every slight or insult done to her- real or imagined. The Revenancer is powerful and swift to anger, and she schemes dark revenges against all those who have wronged her. Kiaransalee prefers the mindless company of the undead (whom she can manipulate at will) to sentient beings capable of independent thought. She prefers to solve problems herself rather than trust someone else to do justice to her vision. The church of Kiaransalee is organized into tightly regimented cells, but with little overall organization of the faith. Kiaransalee's clerics are secretive and usually found in small drow communities or special enclaves. They are agents of vengeance, plotting revenge on those who have slain, harmed, or insulted the clergy in any way. They are agents of vengeance, plotting revenge on those who have slain, harmed, or insulted the clergy in any way. They also undertake regular slaying missions to acquire corpses for animation, and take a prominent role in persecuting slaves. Clerics of Kiaransalee pray for their spells at midnight, when the spirits are most restless in their graves. While each cleric performs a handful of minor devotions to Kiaransalee every month, they venerate her on a single annual holy day - The Graverending - celebrated each Midwinter Eve. The Graverending is celebrated individually, with each cleric animating as many undead creatures as she can. All such undead - known as Vengeance Hunters - are consumed with thoughts of revenge against their killers and unerringly seek them out over the next 24 hours. If destroyed, a Vengeance Hunter does not rise again. Vengeance Hunters return to their graves, if possible, once 24 hours have passed since their annimation or once they have exacted their revenge. Many clerics take up necromancy and most eventually transform themselves into undead. Some History: Kiaransalee, as she was originally known, was the mortal queen of a world called Threnody at least 30,000 years in the past. She was banished by her husband the king, and worked for centuries to raise an undead army to exact vengeance for this. When she was finally done, all life on her world was extinguished. Fleeing with her minions to the Abyss to escape the wrath of the Seldarine, she eventually became a demigoddess. At some point she was slighted by Orcus, though no one but her remembers the details. In later years the goddess Lolth fell into the Abyss as well, capturing Kiaransalee in her twisted web. For millennia, the Lady of the Dead labored under Lolth's spidery shadow as the goddess of undeath and vengeance, capable of only small acts of rebellion. When the time seemed right, she ambushed Orcus in his own layer. Though Orcus was more powerful, he had grown complacent with the diminishment or imprisonment of his major rivals. The Vengeful Banshee managed to slay him with a blast of negative energy, casting his corpse into the Astral Plane. To ensure he could never return, she cast a spell that erased his name from all mortal records. This dealt a major blow to the demonic forces in the Blood War, who suddenly lacked for the undead troops Orcus used to provide. Kiaransalee promised to provide similar troops in time, but still many demonic generals sought to return Orcus back to life. Centuries later, the Vengeful Banshee took advantage of chaos and civil war in the Vault of the Drow, defying the Queen of Spiders and attempting to establish her priesthood as supreme in the city of Erelhei-Cinlu. After the fall of House Eilservs, its ally House Tormtor was relegated to minor status. When priestesses of the Revenancer offered an alliance, they were eager to listen. In return for this alliance, Erehe, consort of Tormtor's ruler Verdaeth, helped locked the Wand of Orcus away in Agathion. Kiaranasalee drowned Erehe in the River Styx, but allowed Verdaeth to resurrect him, without his former memories. Convinced the other noble houses held the secret of restoring his memories, Verdaeth started a war. House Tormtor allied with Everhate, Aleval, and a large number of githyanki. The illithids of Dra-Mur-Shou allied themselves with the anti-Tormtor faction (houses Despana, Noquar, Kilsek, and Godeep), fearing the results of an Erelhei-Cinlu friendly to their hated enemies the githyanki. As chaos and savage battles overtook the Vault, hundreds of drow died, as did hundreds of their mercenaries. The war was finally ended after Eclavdra abased herself before Lolth and underwent a horrible punishment to prove herself. Surviving unmarred, she made a pact with her goddess whose nature remains obscure. In reward, Lolth intervened personally to end the war. Though turning her concentration to this conflict cost the Demon Queen of Spiders her holdings in Geoff and Sterich, the war was ended definitively. House Eilservs was reinstated in power and House Kilsek was banished, replaced with House Vae. ((Greyhawk... Not the Guild's continuity. Orcus is still Tenberous))Recently, Orcus somehow returned from the dead, retaking Thanatos, the layer Kiaransalee had made her own, and driving the goddess out after a time of conflict. Returning chastened to Lolth's Demonweb, she drank of the Spider Queen's venom, formally binding herself in servitude to the Queen of Spiders in exchange for her forgiveness and sanctuary. As a sign of this, Lolth altered the last glyph of her name, changing the Drow Elvish glyph lee to the homonym li, signifying enslavement. Now she is Kiaransali in all texts and inscriptions. Currently, Kiaransali lairs in the fortress of Kandelspire on the Prime Material Plane world of Guldor, which was conquered by Lolth some decades ago. Her religion no longer claims any authority that does not derive from Lolth, though some of her worshipers still harbor resentments. Dogma: Death comes to all and cruel vengeance will be exacted on those who waste their lives on the petty concerns of this exsistance. True power comes only from unquestioning servitude of the once-dead. Hunt, slay, and animate those who scorn the Revenancer's power, and answer any slight a thousandfold so that all may know the coming power of Kiaransalee.

VhaeraunThe Masked Lord, the Masked God of NightVhaeraun (vay- rawn) is vain, proud, and sometimes haughty. he bears grudges of legendary length and never forgets slights or deceptions. Ant underhanded means and treachery are acceptable to him if they further his aims or are done in his service - but if others so threat him or his people, it is a deep sin that cannot go unpunished. He actively involves himself in drow affairs and can be easily convinced to send a minion to assist the work of his clerics if the proper rituals are performed and the need is geniune. The church of Vhaerun is loosley organized, it's adherents bound to largely autonomous cells. Vhaeraun's clergy is nearly exclusively male and practices passive opposition to Lolth's clerics. THey are also active in the surface world, and some preach a heresy of the unity of elven races and their need to work togehter for dominion. They specialize in intrigue, trickery, and treachery and forment disobedience and rebellion among males. In drow communities, Vhaerun's clerics often disguise theur allegiance, for obvious reasons. Contact and marriage with other elven races is encouraged. Half drow usually favor their drow parent, and Vhaeraun sees this inexorably raising drow numbers in the surface lands. Every cleric works to establish some sort of permanent drow settlement on the surface, and either support that settlement's needs personally, or (preferably) make it self-supporting. Poison use, manufacture, and experimentation is also common. Especially effective spells, poisons, and tactics devised by a cleric are to be shared with the Masked Lord and through him all clergy. Clerics of Vhaeraun pray for their spells at dusk, before skulking into the shadows. The most important attacks, negotiations, and other activities of the clergy must occur at night. Clerics of Vhaeraun utter prayers to the Masked God of Night whenever they accomplish something to further his aims. Offerings of the wealth and weapons of those they vanquish (enemies of the drow, or regalia of female drow clerics) are to be melted in black, bowl-shaped altars. Offerings of magic and wealth are made regularly. The more value, the more Vhaeraun is pleased, though he favors daily diligence more than rare, huge hauls. Midwinter Night, know to Vhaeraun's followers as the Masked Lord's Embrace, is the most sacred time of the year to the followers of the Masked Lord. This annual holy is celebrated by the Masked Lord's followers wotj daylong introspective rituals of total sensory deprivation. Each worshipper is expected to cloak themselves in a region of magical darkness and sir or stand at the middle of the effect or a full 24 hours while contemplating Vhaeraun's teachings and dreaming up schemes to advance the Masked Lord's goals in the coming year. All followers of Vhaeraun who wish to perform this ritual are granted the ability to employ their darkness spell-like-ability with the necessary extended duration. In the Night Above, nights of the new moon are considered sacred to his followers. Such occasions are observed with midnight stag hunts that range over miles of shadowy woodlands. Packs of Vhaeraun worshipers, mounted on riding lizards brought up from the Underdark, run down a stag and then sacrifice its rack of antlers and still beating heart to the Masked Lord in the dark rites that pervert the ancient ways of the surface elves. Many clerics are assassins, divine seekers, shadowdancers, or rogues. Some History:Vhaeraun is the son of Araushnee before she was cast out and became Lloth and Corellon Larethian, brother to the goddess Elistraee. Vhaerun was as well cast out of the Seldarine, completely banished from Arvandor like his mother and sister before him simply because he was an accomplice in his mother's plot to destroy Corellon. He holds a deep hatred for all of the Seldarine, especially one by the name Sehanine Moonbow only because the woman herself had risked much to escape his prison and unmask the culpability of the Masked Lord and Araushnee both. As well with holding deep loathing for Seldarine and Sehanine, his hatred even runs deep for his own brother Eilistraee. Corellon had always managed to thwart Vhaeraun's efforts and plans on uniting the Ilythiiri under his wing, to keep them from Lloth and Ghaunadaur demented grasp. Out of all the gods and goddesses, the one that holds all his enmity is Lloth, the Spider Queen herself. At the current moment, Vhaeraun's strength to challenge his mother for the time is not yet right for him. For now he must work against her and her twisted clergy, working within the shadows savataging everything that Lloth herself had worked for, all in silence and secrecy. Someday he will unit the Ilythiiri, and gather their power into one to set against her. This is his quest, this is what drives him and his followers..and Vhaeraun's influence is growing at a considerable leaps and bounds. Dogma: The shadows of the Masked Lord must cast off the tyranny of the Spider Queen and forcibly reclaim their birthright and rightful place in the Night Above. The exsisting drow matricarchies must be smashed, and the warring practicies of twisted Lolth done away with, so that the drow are welded into a united people, not a squabbling gaggle of rival Houses, clans, and aims. Vhaeraun will lead his followers into a society where the drow once again reign supreme over the other, lesser races, and their is equality between males and females.

I am aiding my husband since he is taking too long. I have decided to do an insert of Corellon Larethian. I know he is not of the Drow Pantheon, but he is in the Elven Pantheon. I thought that it would be educational for everyone to know. Corellon LarethianCreator of the Elves, First of the Seldarine, Coronal of ArvandorCorellon Larethian ( core-ell-lon lah- reth-ee-yen) is the leader of the elven pantheon, and the very race of elves is said to have sprung from his blood during his many battles with Gruumsh of the orc pantheon. He embodies the highest ideals of elvenkind, working as a powerful war deity when need be (his longsword Sahandrian is made from a star) and protecting his chosen people with the careful hands of an artisan. Corellon's church emphasizes his protective and artisan aspects over his role as ruler of the elves. They watch over the borders of elven land, guard elven communities, help shape the appearance of elven settlements, and create beautiful items for use within the community and trade without. It is rare to find one of his clerics in a position of leadership, although they often act as intermediaries in disputes among the sylvan races and assist elven governments to assure smooth functioning. Prayer times for his clerics are at night, preferably when the moon is highest in the sky. They have many holy days, although most are tied to astronomical events and only occur every few years. One monthly ceremony is Lateuquor, the Forest Communion of the Crescent Moon, which takes place in the first quarter waxing and involves music, song, dance, and offerings of beautiful items. His clerics are most likey to multiclass as arcane archers, fighters, or wizards. Some History: Corellon created the elven race and is the lord of the nonevil elven deities, which are collectively known as the Seldarine ("fellowship of brothers and sisters of the wood"). The Seldarine respect and honor him, and he has peaceful contact with the leaders of the dwarf, gnome, and halfling deities, as well as Faerunian nature deities and good deities from that pantheon. Corellon counts Lolth (once his consort) and Vhaeraun as his enemies, for he had to banish them from the Seldarine when they led an attack against their kin. His other enemies include beings such as Bane, Cyric, Talos, Malar, and the deities of the orcs and goblinoids. Dogma: The elves are sculptors and wardens of magic's endless mysteries. Bring forth the beauty that envelops and let the spirit gambol unfettered. Seek out new experiences and new ways. Ward against those that would destroy what they cannot create. Commune with the natural and mystical world. Be ever vigilant against the return of the banished darkness, and be strong in heart against the corruption of the Spider Queen.

Selvetarm Selvetarm, known also as The Spider that Waits or Lolth's Champion, is a chaotic evil demigod worshipped by few drow in the Underdark; the place where his worshippers are most common are in the city of Eryndlyn. He is the patron of unequaled battle prowess and bloodlust. Selvetarm cares only for battle and destruction everywhere, and he has a great hatred for all things living, although that is nothing compared to the hate he has stored for his mistress Lolth. Selvetarm is grudgingly allied with Lolth even though he is her consort and although he is not hugely enamored of that fact he guards her vigilantly. He fiercely opposes his father Vhaeraun's machinations and has opposed him on multiple occassions. HistorySelvetarm was born from the brief union between Vhaeraun and Zandilar the Dancer, a demipower worshipped by elves in Yuirwood and later absorbed by Bast who would become Sharess, which was part of an elaborate plan to help Zandilar's followers against the attacks of Lolth's. Selvetarm was alone for a time, until he was befriended by Eilistraee who showed him the ways of good, but all this would be shortlived as a result of the trickery of Lolth. The Spider Queen was enraged by the existence of a demonic lesser lord of the Abyss, who professed himself as having power over spiders, and whose name was Zanassu. Around this time the spider demon Zanassu had been weakened by a conflict in the Prime Material Plane, and so Lolth tricked Selvetarm into destroying the Abyssal lord and absorbing his divine power, under the false pretences of winning Eilistraee's gratitude. But in his actions Selvetarm also absorbed enough of Zanassu's malevolence to overcome his acquired goodness. Lolth used this to her advantage and entrapped Selvetarm's will, binding her grandson to her service. DogmaWar is the ultimate expression of individual power, and only through battle and death can you realize the respect of your comrades. Hone your fighting skills constantly and teach those who will follow into the fray. Never give or recieve quarter, and hope to die amid the bloodlust of battle against overwhelming odds.
