Hello there~ Out of boredom and a desire to vent my creative frustration, I have here a roleplay that I believe at least someone will be interested in. Read through it all before applying, please.
And please, Please, PLEASE, I don’t want an abundance of vampires, or abused characters, or what have you. I don’t have a problem with one or two, but really, not everyone has a tragic life. So. Thank you.
Also, not everyone has awesome magic powers.
Thank you again. :3

Basics:
- Keep it literate, please. I’m not going to be a Nazi, but try to employ proper grammar and break up the walls of text into paragraphs. - Romance is cool, but keep it PG-13, as in compliance with Gaia ToS. - No God-moding, or making stuff happen with other people’s characters without consent. - No Double-posting; I want well-thought-out posts, so please, if you have something to add, add it in and put an [edited] tag at the top. - Give everyone a chance to respond before moving the storyline along. - Inform me if you want to quit the RP! PM me and we can work out details. - PM me your application, titled with your favorite fruit, not color, so that I can add your character to the list and know that you read the rules. - I reserve the right to kick people out of the RP if they repeatedly offend someone, break the rules, etc. - I’m sorry, I’m picky, but make an effort and you’ll probably get in. - Check updates for… well, updates. - Have Fun!

Theory:
There is a large city, almost a world in and of itself, surrounded by desert and forest. The sun stopped shining down upon the city long ago, and the only lights to be seen are neon signs, street lights, and the moon. It’s a fully functioning city, with inhabitants of all sorts of shapes and sizes, including the things that lurk in the dark. Many people believe the shadow creatures are what caused the endless night, though there aren’t any now who could prove this. The creatures, though dangerous, only seldom attack the inhabitants of the city, though there are those who hunt them as a profession. There are always bounties to be had for the shadows, though once killed the hunter had better take some claws or teeth before the creature disintegrates.
People come and go, though very rarely; most inhabitants have been living there for their whole lives.
So, what is life like in the City of Twilight?
Specifics:
- There are rivers on the forest side, and one large one cutting through the city; not really halves, but different areas - There are hunter checkpoints stationed around the city at strategic points so that, while not overcrowding, there are plenty - There are bars, which do serve blood for the vampires - The city is very self-sufficient; science has made food easeir to grow in the darkness, which they do in large greenhouses at the edge of the city, by one of the forest streams - There are, very rarely, traders that will come via stream to the city to buy/sell things that the city may not have/not need; this is usually how people enter the city if they were not born there, but they do not usually leave this way - There are different city sections, such as the slums, where there are a few homeless shelters, the section where the nobility lives, you get the idea

Username: Doppleganger_Xero Character Name: Lord Alexander Vincent Character Age: Approximately 24 Character Race: Human, as far as we know. Occupation: Hunter of Nasty Things; primarily vampires. Only works on assignment, for high prices, or if he deems it a necessary service. Appearance: Six feet tall, shoulder-length ruby hair, pale skin, bright blue eyes. Dresses semi-formally; usually in a white dress shirt and basic black pants, either a velvet coat or worn-out jacket, depending on whether or not he’s working, white gloves, clean boots, and the occasional top hat. While on the job he sports two swords strapped across his back. Bio/Personality:Lived in the city most of his life, he’s one of the richer citizens and has gotten there through much hard work and discipline. He takes his business seriously, though he has no trouble being friendly when not on an assignment. He doesn’t particularly like vampires, but isn’t outright hateful. The Lord enjoys reading in his spare time, though what he really likes is to be around other people. Almost everyone that he comes in contact with, due to his noble status, usually are either unintelligent or only after his wealth, so he prefers to make the occasional excursion into the city. After a hunt if he’s feeling particularly restless he’ll stop and find somewhere to mingle with the common people, which is easier when he’s dressed in normal hunting garb. He’s interested in any sort of information about people, and will sometimes spend days reading countless books to satisfy his thirst for knowledge. Anything Else? Minor magic; mostly healing his own wounds. Slightly-above-average reflexes; superior speed. Not too particularly strong, but fast enough to compensate. Magical weapons; can manifest into something similar to the shadow creatures, but under his direct control.

While he usually uses his Ruger to get the job done, Clif considers himself an expert with a whip.
---
Username: Dreams In a Rain Drop Character Name: Lila Character Age: 15 Character Race: vampire Occupation: chief's apprentice Appearance: She has long flowing raven hair that stops above her bottom, with crimson on the ends/tips. She's 5"5 in height, slim and lean, fair porcelain skin. Bio/Personality: The smell of a perfectly made meal by her own hands sends no greater feeling to her heart. Except for dark chocolate that is. She finds biting humans and taking their blood a waste of time and effort. Why do that when this place was made for the likes of her to live among the day walkers in harmony? Abandon by her parents at the age of six, she was bitten and turned into a creature of the night. She doesn't recall her last name or even the faces of her parents, she was found and raised by a widowed chief who had no children and needed some one to fill the empty hole in his life. On day/night she trips over a small cliff when she was collecting some organic ingredients and sprouted wings and flew. She felt so alive in the air she starts a trend where she would fly in the deep darkness of the night sky where the clouds shield the moon's illuminating rays. She prays and hope that she would continue her life happily as it is right now, that her secret would never be discovered. Anything Else? She can cook, spout bat like wings, move in unnatural speeds, and is absolutely obsessed with chocolate.

---
Username: Nyx_Altair Character Name: Nathan A. Wilson Character Age: 20 Character Race: White mage Occupation: Musician Appearance: Nathan is 5'11" and very thin. His hands are quite long and slender, usually appearing very delicate, and perfect for climbing things or playing his instruments. He has platinum-blond hair down to his waist, which he usually puts in a ponytail or braid. His eyes are pale, icy blue and go from a very soft tone when he's reading to a fierce, sharp look when he's upset or focusing on magic. He has very feminine features, save for his blatantly male, pointed nose. Enjoying the occasional crossdress, he may wear a simple, dark skirt and light turtleneck, or even an elaborate Elizabethan-style dress. At other times he wears baggy dark pants and a turtleneck, with the sleeves torn off in hot weather. He is usually found barefoot. Bio/Personality: Not much is known about his past, though it can be assumed from his thick accent that he came from Scotland. He speaks fluent German and a touch of French he claims he learned in private school. He never bothers to take care of himself, and often in a fit of bibliophilic reading will forget to eat for a few days. He's very sweet, and adores nature and the outdoors, especially at night, so he doesn't mind the darkness of the city all too much. At times he'll wind up falling asleep in a tree (with a book and a flashlight, even). He usually stays around the forest side of the city. Being a highly musical person, he is often found singing random songs outside or playing his two instruments, piano and guitar. Anything Else? Nathan is a talented white mage, using mostly healing and helping spells with a few minor offensive spells involving wind. He's trying to learn how to manipulate the air to create sound waves, and therefor play music with magic alone. He has a disease that makes him very sore when he wakes up from any longer than an hour of sleep, and when his body is overworked or stressed or he's emotionally stressed, his lungs stop taking in air for a short while. At this point, it isn't life-threatening, though he can faint, and it is kind of scary. :/
---
Username: Dae Dae Character Name: Andrew Greene Character Age: 137 Character Race: Elven Changeling Occupation: Maintenance worker in one of the large, city run greenhouses. He moonlights as a street musician Appearance: Andrew stands just an inch shy of seven feet tall in his socks, but has a thin, wispy frame. He almost appears frail. His hair is thick, very curly and black. He wears it long, a few inches past his shoulders, and ties it back with ribbon. His eyes are a deep, emerald green in his pale, slightly pinked face and his lips are full and sensuous. He tends to dress in dark colors and shirts slightly large for him. Bio/Personality: Andrew wasn't born in Twilight City, but rather in the surrounding forest. For the first one hundred years of his life, he answered to a different name and lived among elves who very rarely if ever meddled with the inhabitants of the city. One of the few things that could tempt them into entering that place was exchanging one of their children, for at only one hundred he was indeed a youth among his kind, for a coveted and difficult to steal human child. And so he had become the human boy Andrew, much to his disdain. His human parents never perceived the switch and assumed his poor behavior could be corrected with regular discipline. While not abusive, they were very strict and physical with their reprimands.
The miraculous change in behavior never happened. No punishment seemed to phase him beyond making him more hostile. Eventually the human couple had no choice but to give up and they were relieved when the boy they knew as their sixteen year old son Andrew left home without a word of goodbye. Unable to return to the forests as he had never been identified as a Changeling, Andrew spent years searching for his place in Twilight City. He tried a myriad of odd jobs, he had tried unemployment, he had tried drugs and booze. Finally, after cleaning up his act, he decided the greenhouses were the perfect mix of forest and city. Or as close as he would get, anyway. His tenor saxophone, which he lovingly calls Duvessa, was a gift to himself when he had finally held down steady work long enough to afford it.
Andrew is arrogant and self centered. He has little regard for other people though he will not go out of his way to pick a fight. He has little need for sleep and spends most of each night wandering the streets until the mood to play hits him. It always does; he is a talented player and has a great love of performing. Anything Else? Able to cast mostly cantrips and prestidigitation, but is most fond of glamours and illusions.

Alexander stared down at the puddles of near-black goo splattered across the pavement, grimacing in mild disgust. He pulled a black cloth out of the inner pocket of his thigh-length, worn-out travelling coat, carefully wiped off his blade, and replaced it in its sheath across his back.
He bent down and fished some broken teeth and claws out of the puddle, then dropped them into a small drawstring bag so that he could turn them in as proof of the kill. The shadows themselves came in all shapes and sizes, but the most common were the size of a medium or small dog, and blended in with the shadows. They bit and clawed and screeched, but if you could withstand all of that, there was a reward to be had.
He turned away from the scene, moving back onto one of the main roads that ran through the city so that he could return to one of the checkpoints set up for hunters and maybe get some treatment for his arm where one of the things had bit him.
As soon as he was finished with the turn-in and subsequent reward from the fight, he was going to go home, eat something, bathe, and change his clothes. Verr would be pleased to know everything went accordingly...

Dib sat up from his makeshift cot to the ringing of the old clocktower. It was the only way Dib knew it was morning in the dark city. He yawned, rubbed his eyes, and kiss his locket like has always done since he was a little kid.
He took a look around to make sure no shadows had took up residence in his alley, and jetted off to start his busy day. He was stopped in his tracks when hunger pain hit him like a brick wall. He hadn't eaten yesterday because Marsha Gold, the owner of the Gold Tavern who had always given him the scraps of that day's food, was sick.
He dug in his pocket and found two half eaten crackers. He stuffed them in his mouth hoping the hunger would go away, and it did, for the time being.

"Ug, is my shift over yet pops?" Lila's hands were busy washing dishes in the back, where the soap wouldn't touch the food.
"Almost, you can go now though if you want." Her adoptive father was the second, highest ranking chief in the Gold Tavern. He would be first if not for his old age.
"Thanks old man!" She skipped out into the night and prayed for it to be nice and cloudy but not rainy. "Wow, looks like today is another good day to fly." She removed her hoodie and tied it to her waist, reveling a tank top with a super, skanky looking low back. Great wide wings came ripping out of her flesh and spread out widely to dry; she'd have grown used to the pain and does not mind. She takes flight high above the sky where the neon lights and such would not spot her. The cool air was refreshing but the random sent of blood was distasteful to her nose. "Ah, I need some chocolate." She lands in a near by alley way and retreated her wings back and place the hoodie back on. A block away was a candy store with mountains and stack full of rich, dark, chocolate bars, in all of its organic-y goodness.

Clif walked down Vermont Street slowly, kicking a rock with him as he went along. It looked to be another cloudy day, which meant plenty of Shadows to slay, teeth to claim, and, more importantly, money for a little chow. He was down to his last coins, and it was looking to spend them wisely, and the best deal looked to be a cheap pretzel at a little inn called the Golden Tavern. He walked into the inn without making much fuss and sat down right at the bar. "Can I get a pretzel, please?"

The strings of a guitar rang out in alarm as a set of fingers suddenly fell across them, jolting little Nathan awake. He nearly dropped the thing before his hand gripped the neck possessively, protecting his beloved instrument. He was about ready to swing his legs over his bed and get up when he realized it was not his bed he was sitting in, but rather a cozy spot in a tree where several branches curved out and formed the perfect little hammock for him to fall right asleep in. Which he had. Smooth move, genius.
He shifted a little to start getting up when the ache hit him. It wasn't horrible, just annoying and a bit distracting, so he was a lot slower than he'd like to have been as he clambered down the tree. He was careful about his guitar, too; it was the only one he had, and certainly the only one he could afford. Despite the pain in his muscles, though, he made it down safely with only a scrape on one knee, which could have been avoided if he'd been wearing pants instead of his favorite dark blue skirt. Oh, well...
Rather than running home, the skinny blond decided to get some food somewhere... If he could afford it. He crossed his fingers and hoped hard as he trudged back into town, slipping the strap of his guitar around him Johnny Cash style, and looked for some place to eat. The Gold Tavern looked promising, so he slipped in and inched up to the bar shyly. He self-consciously adjusted the white turtleneck that adorned his thin chest, tugging at a loose thread where he'd torn the sleeves off years ago. His bright ice-blue eyes stared around him at all the people, confused and not sure how to start.

"Have a good night, sir," Jasper said as her last customer of the day left her bar, Dusk. The man sent her a small smile, waved, and walked out of the bar.
Sighing contently, Jasper quickly cleaned the counter top, in an attempt to close up fast. Seeing that tonight would be another sleepless night, she wanted to go to the Gold Tavern before they closed up for the night, to try and get a decent meal inside of her. Finally, she locked the entrance to Dusk and, using her speed, sprinted down the few blocks to Gold Tavern.
She walked inside calmly and went to the countertop, mentally debating whether to get a bowl of soup or a salad, and whether she was in need of blood right now or not.

Endless.
It seemed to stretch into infinity, to take an eternity to get through the process of turning in the shadow parts and claiming his reward. He was bleeding from his arm, dirty, and not in the best of moods. Normally they didn't even scratch him, but today he'd had just the luck to slip when he stepped in a puddle of blood one of the damned creatures had made.
Disgusting.
Alexander quickly took the offered coins, slipping them into the inner pocket on his coat, before turning and leaving the annoying office. He looked around, trying to gague how long it would be until he got back home from there, when he sighted the sign for a tavern down the street. Verrick wouldn't be happy that he took so long getting home...
He decided to head that way and see if there was anything worth eating. He was hungry, first and foremost, and injured. Once he'd sat down he could heal himself enough to not bleed the whole way home, and could get something better for it at home. Cheered by that thought, the Lord, although he barely looked the part, wandered over to see if there was good food to be had, hoping that his weapons wouldn't attract unwanted attention or an unfavorable reaction.
The man ran his hand through his thick red hair as he sat at the bar, asking for some hot soup and bread in a low, quiet voice before concentrating on making the gash on his forearm scab over.
My kingdom for a bath... why am I staying out when I feel so disgusting? I'll be surprised if I don't get kicked out for being so dirty... I should be going home. If only I really cared to put the effort forth...

"Oh, wonderful bliss of bitter chocolate sensation, what would the world be without you." Lila walked quietly downs the streets back to the Golden Tavern to ask her old man for the keys to their house. She carried a small bag stuffed with multiply amounts of dark chocolate bars. She hummed to her self a nursery rhyme and looked casually around. She can see several people entering into the tavern half an hour before it closes.
"Oh my!" She spots a man go into the Tavern and the stench of blood was pouring into her nose from him.
'He's injured, should I go in? ....' Lila debated against her self for the possibility that it could be a hunter, but than again, she'd fooled many in her wake already. There can't be anything that can shatter her normal life now.
'I know! I'll offer him some chocolate and see what happens! No one can hate chocolates; it's a piece of heaven in every bite.' A bit of drool falls from the corners of her lips as she dreams of the swirly chocolate rivers running through the land of strawberries. She snaps out of it when she reaches the entrance to the tavern, she pushes it open and to her surprise, she sees Jasper. Now, Lila met Jasper when she was doing an errand for the tavern of retrieving several box of liquors from Jasper's bar. However, Lila never knew that she was also another vampire. Lila's vampire powers aren’t fully awaken, she only has access to flight, agile mobility and small amounts of superior strength compare to humans.
'First things first.' She glides towards where the man with the injured limb sat and apparently, just order some soup and bread.
"Would you like a chocolate bar sir? It's free and one hundred percent poison free!" She smiled gleefully and awaited the strangers reaction. It was than that Lila got a good look at him. He had beautiful scarlet hair that was unfortunately in a tangle mess along with the rest of his appearance. She also noted that he was quite tall, perhaps in his early twenties or so.
