Back in January, I commissioned 3 of my staffers for a special trio of celestial-based kitsu. It took a while for them to all be finished, but they were well worth the wait!

This rp contest is for the one boy of the batch - star(s).
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

We'll want someone who is rp-dedicated, as he and his sisters are very reliant on each other - each one has something another lacks (lunar cannot hear, solar cannot speak, and celestial cannot see). They have a special telepathic bond, so Lunar acts as Celestial's eyes, Celestial speaks for Solar, and Solar listens for Lunar. Without each other, at least initially, they would be lost [so as kits, they'll be together a lot, as teens less so, etc]. Each also has a sense which is strengthened - I will put them up when I get them from my AIM logs (:

Also, whoever wins celestial must give an offspring to Mau/Noko if/when he ever breeds ; We'll do the same likewise, of course, with lunar and solar. He's just that sexy.

There are no requirements on those entering. You can have 1 kitsu or 10. I don't care.

Judges: Mau & Noko
I may also call in opinions from some of the other staffers, if it is needed.

Mau
1) Do the three children know who their parents are? Are they being raised by anyone? Or are they effectively orphans with only one another, and no idea of their origins?
Their parentage is unknown. Think of them as being born from the heavens themselves.

2) What's the deadline to get entries in?
It's just preliminary introductions now, and it'll be a day or two before noko and I can get together to rp.

3) Is there any target word length or limit for the various sections? '
Well right now it's just an introduction - so nothing too long!

4) Since the eggs have no halos, they're not to be played as Angelics, right?
They're not angelics, no.

5) Do they feel any kind of kinship and/or supernatural affinity with their astronomical elements?
Yes. Powers based on their celestial counterparts will be allowed.

To start off with, please give us an idea of how you would begin stars personality. What would you name him? How would he react to his disability?

Would he lean heavily on his sisters or try to be more independent?

Write me a little blurb about what you would name him and his personality!

After a little while, Noko and I will hopefully be able to coordinate some RP. As a note, Lunar is elegenat and refined and Solar is a tomboy.

Intros will be open for 48 hours! So until 7:30PM PST Friday!

Solar's Prompt
~ this seemed like a good idea at the time~ the young kit thought mostly to herself as she held onto the limb. The tomboy in her demanded every tree be climbed, every rock overturned and every bug explored and watched. Thats exactly what she had been doing. The colorful caterpillar had been inching up the leaning tree when she had followed it. Followed it a little far it seemed. Now the young kit was standing on a creaking branch, leaning over a steep ledge. She glanced down wondering if she did fall if shed manage to survive. She knew she couldnt fly should the branch break. Naturally as soon as she thought that the wind blew. the branch creaking angrily with the kits added weight. She tried to stay balanced but then it happened. A loud snap and cracking noise as the wood splintered. With a yelp in her mind she scrambled to hold on. Paniced ~ HELP ME!!!!~ she screamed out in her mind.

Your job? What does brother do and how does he do it? :3 good luck. I give permission to rp solar as well!

Lunar's Prompt
In the dark of the night, you are on the roof 'gazing' at the heavens when suddenly you hear a whimpering and shuffling from below you in the gardens. Even without your eyesight, you can quickly tell that it is your youngest sibling, Lunar, and you call out to her telepathically to see what is wrong. Within minutes, she has sobbed out the entire story - someone has stolen (or so she swears!) one of her precious baubles while she was asleep - nevermind that all of her baubles and gems are equally precious to her.

How do react? Do you help her to find her 'precious' bauble? Or do you simply go back to 'gazing' at the stars?

Full permission to rp lunar as needed XD

Both prompts must be responded to by July 10th at 6pm PST.

Then Noko and I will pick 2-3 favorites each, and we'll do some one-on-one rp.

If given the reigns to 'Star's personality and RP rights, my name for him would be "Sidereum" (which is Latin for "of the stars; starry; gleaming"). While he cannot see, he does not feel handicapped with his sisters around to help aid and assist him. Blindess has granted him a heightened sense of hearing and he is a keen listener. He is also a bit of an audiophile as well as outgoing and bold; he will readily speak for his sisters without hesitation.
As for his sisters, he would be a bit bold and brash and want to lead the way for them. Also extremely protective of them. He's not really an independant guy though, he feels almost vulnerable and naked without them.

In short, he is brash, loud, very talktative and outgoing. As long as his sisters are around. Without them... he feels lost and afraid.

If the lovely Star boy was under my care, I would name him 'Hesperos', which is the Greek name for the Son of Eos, and the male personification of the Evening Star... Lucifer's opposite.
He would be soft spoken, and polite, perhaps even hesitant, with strangers. He would be very close to his sisters, as he could not see with out them, and he would be well aware that Solar needs him to speak. He would, as he grew older, try to gain some personal independence, wanting to be able to prove he COULD take care of himself, but he would remain reserved, calm, and polite.

I realize I probably organized mine a little different from everyone elses, and I apologize. I know there was no formal way to do it, but this kind of works best for me .... so if the celestial male was placed under my care... this is how things would roll.

Name: Sheraga

Name Meaning/Reason: I'm not really someone who likes to dwell on names for hours on end. I like to find a name that fits and place it. And this name kind of stands out to me. It is a real name. It is indeed a male name (though it might not seem it) and it is from the Aramaic language. There is a Hebrew derivative, which is simply Shraga. Both mean "light". I thing the name is kind of airy and rolls off the tongue, not to mention I can appreciate it's meaning. As well as the fact that he'd like to be his sister's guiding light.

Personality: This one's slightly difficult. A little bit more complicated than perhaps can be easily explained, and much better sorted out when tested. As the only male of the trio, he'd feel as though it was his duty to protect his sisters. Unfortunately, his disability causes him to become easily shaken by even the smallest of things. However, he'd put on his bravest face and try not to back down. He's got a good heart, but he hates himself for being so independent on his sister's when he'd much rather support them more than they support him. It's not a matter of leaning heavily on them or trying to be independent. He wants them to lean on him.

If the star kitsu were to be entrusted to me, I believe I'd name him Devarsi. Rather than name him after his physical features, I wanted to find something that spoke more to how I envision his personality and strengths. As I was searching, this one came closest to feeling suitable for him. It is from Sanskrit, meaning "wise one among the gods." While it sounds a bit more egotistical than I was intending, I think it suits well his way of approaching the world, and his place within it.

Devarsi would not have considered himself to be disabled; indeed, he would not have known anything other than the darkness that is his lack of sight if it weren't for his bond with his sisters, that allows him to see through Lunar's eyes. While this is a blessing, in a sense, it is also a burden as well, because if he comes to rely too heavily upon her sight, then the loss of it would be more devastating to him than if he had never borrowed it at all. Rather than making himself rely solely upon his sister's sight, he works to find his own way around the world, interpreting it through his other senses, and supplementing it with his sister's sight when necessary. Because he has to process the information around him in a different way, he does not rely on first impressions, and takes his time to form an opinion of someone or something. He is careful, and tests the world around him from every angle available to him -- never knowing whether his next steps will find him on unsteady ground, he chooses them with caution, and forms his words and models his interractions with others in the same way.

Appearance means nothing to him, as the sight he uses isn't truly his own. He weighs another's intentions through their tone of voice, pattern of speech, and the shifting of the subtle energies around and through them -- taking everything into account before making his decisions, and letting others into his circle of trust. This sometimes makes him appear slow or standoffish, but in the end it helps him to be a better judge of character, and not make brash decisions. In this way, he maintains an objective voice in matters, watching over his sisters and friends with a cautious, analytical mind, rather than eyes that do not always tell the truth...

As a side note, at some point the borrowing of his sister's sight might grow slightly irksome to him. While he loves and adores his sisters, and would do anything for them, having had the taste of sight from Lunar is bittersweet. Without her, he'd never have known that he was missing something. Others might have told him, but with no point of reference in his own experience, there wouldn't have been anything for him to miss, just to be curious about. But borrowing Lunar's sight shows him what he is without on his own; and while he'll eventually be able to function quite well without her assistance in sight, the world of darkness that awaits him without her aid will be all the more empty for the light she brought into it. It's a very mixed blessing, one he's grateful for now, but doesn't want to get too used to, because someday he'll lose it again.

((And I'm sorry if I dragged on a bit long for a simple intro, but I got a bit too inspired and wanted to make sure I got as much as possible down to get him more... solidified in my mind ^x^))

Name: Saiph
Name Meaning: "Saiph" is the Arabic name for the star Kappa Ori. It means "the sword".

Personality:Justice is blind, and so is Saiph. He's brusque, intelligent, analytical, and critical to a fault. Saiph isn't a bad kitsu, but he doesn't see the point of censoring what he sees as the truth. He can be remote and touchy with kitsu other than his beloved siblings.

Since Saiph is called upon to translate Solar's words to the world, his bluntness can some misunderstandings. Lunar may have to be the diplomat of their little group, though it's possible that Saiph will learn to be a better communicator as they grow older.

As a kit, Saiph will want to be in near-constant physical contact with his sisters, paws touching and tails brushing. Once he gets older he'll learn to judge distances by the sound of the forest and the touch of the wind on his wings. I can see him settling in a territory he knew every inch of, and not leaving without trusted accompaniment. It would be a home for his sisters to return to if they chose to separate their little trio.

Saiph gets frustrated with his disability, but he would be too proud to ever hold his family back, or pester Lunar for the use of her sight. He will devote himself to the study of esoteric forms of shamanism and ways of knowing without seeing. In time he might become a sort of oracle (this would depend on how plot goes with the sisters).

If I was chosen to take care of this beautiful star boy, I'd name him "Elden". The name means "protector" which is what his personality will be based on.

He will always try to be by his sisters' sides, but not to an extreme where they may feel like he's suffocating them or taking away their freedom. While they all rely on each other heavily, he doesn't see it as a "just because we're all handicapped" sort of deal. It's not a burden to him, nor is it an obligation. He stays by his sisters' sides because he wants to. He loves them and would wish no harm to befall either of them.

When they first start out as kits, he will try to be there for his sisters as much as possible. He will do anything within reason for them, so as long as he sees fit. That doesn't mean he'll spoil them. He'll just be very protective of them and very cautious about their surroundings.

Even though he's blind he won't let it hinder him one bit. He tries not to rely heavily on his sisters' abilities, but doesn't mind them leaning on him if they choose to do so. Elden will be a very patient kitsu, always willing to give the helping hand for another who needs it. He will try to analyze both sides before deciding on anything final. This also applies to any situation; he will analyze as many options as possible before making his move. But he is also able to think quickly on his feet if the situation calls.

If entrusted with the star kitsu, I would name him Manjit. It is an Indian/Sanskrit name meaning 'Light of the Mind'. Why would I name him such? Thinking on stars reminded me of all the great scholars and astronomers, and as such, I imagine him to be a rather bright, scholarly kitsu...And a kitsu who does not see false, for he has no use for keeping up appearances or lying to someone.

Manjit would be a rather quiet Kitsu is not for his sister, Solar. His own thoughts are the business of he and his sisters, and he will share them when he thinks it is needed. Many who would find themselves in his situation would despair and try to become separate...Manjit does not. He has known nothing else, and even if he did, he would not give up his sisters for the world.
They are his everything, and harming them is the only way to get the quiet and rather contemplative kitsu to bare fangs and unsheath claws. Manjit, despite his quiet nature, has something about him that seems to draw others close. Even if he doesn't always notice others, caught up in his own thoughts and the bond he shares with his sisters, he's far from cruel. Manjit does care about others, and when he pays attention, he is a kind kitsu. This is a side rarely seen by anyone other than his sisters however.

The word "Pharos" means "beacon or lighthouse," and like the legend of the star that will always point travelers north, Pharos will be one to offer insight or guidance to those who need it. Eventually, he will fall into the nasty habit of adding his input whether it is desired or not, and come off as controlling to others. In the beginning, all he knows is being a support for his sisters; when they become old enough to stand on his own, he’ll realize that he is losing the support that he needed from them. Pharos doesn’t quite understand how a normal relationship works, for being with his sisters for the majority of his life, will try to impress others with his wisdom, and eventually become overbearing and snobbish. The more others shun him for his uppity manners, the more he convinces himself that he is better than them. This will lead to many problems if his sisters decide to find mates, for Pharos will be convinced that whoever they chose is not good enough for them.

Name: Elysian

Meaning: Elysium is the pagan expression for Paradise. And in Greek mythology, Elysium is a section of the Underworld. I chose this name in connection to both his personality and coloration. Paradise ties in with his calming hues of star glitter. And in character, Elysian will see himself and his siblings as living in an 'underworld'. Not hell, but simply being in a world 'under' that of their heavenly birthplace.

Personality: As a youth/baby, Elysian will be an active and vocal sibling of the trio. His lack of eyesight makes him desperately clingy to his two sisters, both for himself and them. He doesn't want to loose them to his disability, nor does he want to gap himself from them because of it. And so he'll play and tumble with his sisters. It is in these early months that the bond will be strengthened for the trio. Then as he grows, he will become more soft-spoken and charming. That he can't help, as he makes himself a balanced bridge between his sister's characters. And though he'll enjoy more time to himself, he'll still be a helping paw to whoever needs one.

Relationship: Elysian takes supreme care in the guiding and guarding of his sisters. This is due to him obviously being the only male, and in his mind finding it his duty to be their greatest protection. Like the stars that caress both the moon and sun, he shows no favoritism between his two siblings. He spends just as much time rough housing with Solar as he does letting Lunar groom his hair and fur.

Specialties: Elysian's moods play an important part to his appearance. Upon a change of mood, his wings of star vapor will change hues...looking much like the aurora borealis. Though this is something he is unaware of, and makes it difficult for him to understand just how others know what he's feeling. And maybe for a twist in things, a lunar eclipse will spark out a darker side of his character. That is to be seen through rp though.

In a Nutshell: Elysian is a soft-hearted but stern male who is slow to judge and even slower to hate others.

If I were to win this kitsu, I would name him Castor. In Greek mythology Castor is part of the Gemini constellation and the twin brother of Pollux. It is similar to kekasma meaning "to shine, to excel."

Castor has an air of confidence that is simply unmistakable. Only his sisters ever have and ever will see him falter, and he intends to keep it that way. Moments like that are buried deep inside him. He tend to order people around and expect things done, with little questioning. He can strut around and pretend that there is nothing wrong with him just to distract others. On the outside, he seems calm, successful and sensual despite his disability. The truth is, however, that he's absolutely terrified that he'll make a mistake. He tries to stay as close to his sisters as he can, bending over backwards and climbing mountains until it hurts. Despite being almost constantly scared, Castor is also very trusting, very mature when it comes to matters of love. Sometimes too trusting. For someone who is afraid of being taken advantage of, Castor still makes the easiest victim. He wishes deeply, to follow his heart completely and admires people to act in such a way. When he's around people his smile shines forth. He hides his dark fears and appears confidence and maybe even valiant to some. He's also a bit of the goofball, but that type that only good for laughs and turns off those who don't know him well. Like the stars, he always seems to be sparkling. Though he secretly has little tolerance of their disabilities, he realizes that it makes him a better unbiased person.

Castor has a near impeccable sense of direction or intuition. He makes a good pep -talker. He doesn't mind taking the role of a guiding North Star. His blindness isn't much of a problem to this. It's just a "slight" complication. Dark nights - those that seem almost starless - place him in an emotionally unstable state, though he doesn't know why...

'Stern' - [stair-n]: German translation of the word "star". Also a term for the rear portion of a large sailing vessel, as well as an adjective used to describe one who is adamant in their views. Part of the constellation Puppis, which depicts a large ship; it is so large that it is split into several different pieces.

'Stern', as he would be named, would be at first put-off by his disability before learning of the triangle needed to help his siblings and himself survive. He is grateful that he can hear, at the least, and is more than willing to help and protect his sisters. In some situations, he is quiet and shy; often taking the back seat and waiting for whatever will happen to happen. Once he becomes comfortable in his surroundings, however, he will begin to open up, becoming more talkative and friendly to those who he learns to trust. He is scholarly and open-minded, and often likes to think on the philosophy behind events and occurrences on the path of life.

Since he cannot see, Stern likes to think and dream about the world around him. He has a fascination with the ocean, and when he's not helping one of his sisters or relying on them, he dreams of what it must look like. Although he had heard the scenery described to him by Lunar, it is the one thing that he hungers for; the sight of the sea. He often becomes frustrated with his disability when the trio nears the shoreline, merely because he is so drawn to its supposed beauty.

Though at some times Stern would need his sisters' help, he would want to help and protect them more than receive aid from them. It's not that he doesn't want their help, it's more of the fact that boys will be boys and sometimes become headstrong. Usually, however, after failing a couple times at something he tries to do on his own, Stern will admit 'defeat' and return back to the safety of his sisters. He will love them more than himself, and put their well-being above all other priorities.

I didn't read any of the other entries so if any is being repeated, it's coming right out of my head. XD

Ok.

I think the boy would a bit of a troublemaker as a youth, getting himself into the worst of troubles then grow up to be a distant but still caring brother. Being blind since birth, it's normal to him to not see or rather see the way his sister is showing him. However, his blindness would be a source of frustration to him as he grow older, not being able to really accept that him and his sisters are handicaped one way or the other. He would take a lot on his shoulders and will never show any emotions on his face. He'll probably try to be the voice of reason of the trio. His handicap also forced him to rely on his instinct a lot and by the time he grows into an adult, it will rarely be wrong.

That's about it in a nutshell. Pretty much guidelines. From there, we'll see how it goes during rpging. His name? Hmmm...Can't make up my mind yet. Percival, Frey, Balder or Draco.

Edit: Oh just in case I can do this, a few things stroke my mind over night for him for his teen and adult years. XD I see him as a sarcastic one (but not the mean kind) and a "stay to the facts" guy. Even though he grew up with his sisters, he's a bit clumsy when it comes to communicate with them (we all know women psychology and how guys are good...or not with us XD) so that lead him to wish he had a little brother too even if one of his sisters is a tomboy. biggrin But heh I guess he'll have to deal with a son later on instead of a brother. -_^

Ok. I'm done for real now. If I wasn't allow to edit my post, ignore everything I said from the edit mention.
