The Baridi-a dhati Clan 'True Wind'
Welcome to the cheetah clan of the Baridi-a dhati. It is an old clan, full of traditions, rituals, and with a rather colorful history. This cheetah clan specializes in crafting, trading their creations for more raw materials and things they need...such as information, new blood for the clan in the form of bride(or groom)-payment, and the hiring of mercenaries to do their dirty work. The current leaders are the Head, Dharba, and his mate, Kipepo-tamu. Their heir is their eldest son, Dharba-epesi, and his mate, Shairi-a dhati. NOTE: Waterbucks are NOT hunted. The clan finds them far too useful. To eat or kill a waterbuck is, under normal circumstances, grounds for severe punishment.

When the clan is large, there may be two or more Historians. Head Teacher - The tutor to the Head's cubs, this is the cheetah in charge of all the other teachers. S/he insures that not only are the Head's cubs well educated, but that the other cubs of the clan are assigned to teachers. Head Crafter - The one who determines how much a crafted item is worth, and insures apprentice crafters are assigned to proper masters. Works closely with the Head Trader.
'Middle Class' Teacher - The cheetahs who teach the cubs how to 'write' and read the clan's symbols, the history of the clan and the land it resides on, the cultures of other clans and allied prides and coalitions, and other simple things, like basic math. Trader - The Baridi'a dhati clan has a special group of cheetahs who travel in a 'caravan', taking goods to places and bringing back information, new blood, supplies, and goods they cannot craft. They often have waterbucks that they use to help carry things. Crafter - The makers of the clan. They craft things such a jewelry, ornamented skull 'helmets', and bags out of things the traders bring back and that can be found in their lands. Hunter - Those who ensure the clan is feed. All learn to hunt, but it is only the hunters who are allowed to hunt on their lands. Trainer - The cheetahs who work with the waterbucks and teach them what they need to know to do their jobs well. Sweet Nanny - The highest ranked nanny. She cares for the Head's cubs. Herd Heads - The waterbuck pair leading the rest of the waterbucks. Works closely with the trainers.
'Lower Class' Nanny - The ones who insure the cubs of those who work are taken care of. Bard - One who makes music or tells tales for a living. Apprentice - The juveniles/adolescents that are being trained to do a job. Clanling - The general populace. They often do smaller jobs around the clan. Arranged marriages Middle class and above usually arrange mates for their cubs at a young age. Some parents try to make sure the cubs get along well, others don't care, as long as it furthers their family or business.
Names Most names of those born into the clan have something to do with wind, air, song, clouds, or the weather.
Religion The clan follows no 'god' except Mkodi. To them, She is the One True Way, and the 'gods' are viewed as 'Saints'. The 'gods' are the Saints of their particular domain, while other creatures long past are considered Saints of Mortality, mortals who embodied devotion to Mkodi. If given the chance, the more...militant followers will try to convince others of their 'One True Way'.
Laws
Hybrid children are forbidden in the clan. In fact, few members of the clan even know that hybrids are possible. Any member found with hybrid cubs WILL be exiled. One is not allowed to marry out of their station. Love is rarely a factor in marriage and mating within the clan. The only ones who may marry below their station are the Sweet Lords and Ladies, and they can marry no lower than Upper Class...to avoid the insanity that comes with too much inbreeding. They also tend to marry higher ranking cheetahs from other clans and groups. Flings are not allowed. If they happen, and the male or female is found out, they are stripped of all titles and demoted to Clanling. (OOCly, flings happen more among straight clanlings, but the mother of the fling -and father if he's found out- is still looked down upon.) Respect to one's betters. Even an old Clanling MUST give respect to the bratty little son of a Trader. To kill another clan member is grounds for death or exile. Waterbucks are members of the clan. Lesser members, but still members. To kill them is to bring severe punishment. Outsiders are to be treated cautiously, but with hospitality. The clan refuses to be known for being inhospitable...so even though they are wary of outsiders, they treat them with a cautious kindness and the hospitality due their station. Permits are required to go beyond clan borders. One MUST be painted with the Mark of the Head Trader in order to travel beyond the borders of the clan. Only Hunters and students may hunt on clan lands. Though all learn to hunt, it is mainly so they do not starve during their Travel. Nighttime is a time to stay inside the home. To go outside in the presence of the Moon is to risk damnation.

Rites/Rituals
NEED SUGGESTIONS! ;-; Help?
Summer Solstice - A day of great rejoicing and celebration, for they believe that Mkodi's son, the Sun, was born on this day, and it is the Sun who will one day bring them up to Mkodi's realm. Winter Solstice - A day spent completely inside the den-caves. As the longest night, it is the time of greatest evil. The clan believes this was the day when the Moon seduced the Sun into giving her some of his Light.
